Impressions from a new ChatGPT user
As a brand new user of ChatGPT, I have never been so incredibly impressed and rage-inducing frustrated at exactly the same time with any new tech I've ever tried.
I was using it to help create some simple javascript functions and debug some code. It could come up with working functions almost immediately that took a really interesting approach that I wouldn't have thought of. "Boom," I thought, "this is great! Let's keep going!" Then, immediately afterwards, it would provide absolute shit that couldn't and wouldn't work at all. It couldn't remember the very code it just outputted to me on multiple occasions, and when asked to make a few minor changes it constantly spouted brand new very different functions, usually omitting half the functionality it had before. But, when the code was directly typed in by me in a message, every time, it did much better.
Seems with every question like that I had to start from scratch every time, or else it would work from clearly wrong (not even close,

Too many posts from the 3 Down Nation Feed (and not enough from community users)
Having some interesting articles relevant to the CFL and other 3 down football is awesome, but not when the community is still small but growing. Those posts seem to take over, as there's at least two or three every day, and so that's all that ends being on the main page in the community. So, I may manually post some of the more interesting articles from that feed, but for now the rest of them are going to stop. Obviously, community members are encouraged to give any and all feedback on this and other matters.
I still haven't figured out what 'spirituality' is supposed to mean. It's a word used in so many vague, fuzzy, and often contradictory ways that it seems to be basically meaningless. Mostly it seems it's used as a rough synonym for 'emotion', usually the emotions of awe and wonder. So sure, I agree that healthy emotions are good for our mental health. That is unsurprising.
I just watched 12 Angry Men (1957) for the first time and it is incredible.

The latest version of mlmym includes the subscribed commuunities dropdown in the top bar. Can mlmym be updated to this version, please? The lack of access to one's subscribed communities makes it borderline unusable atm despite how much I like it.

Would it be possible to make the script work with old.lemmy.ca (and old.lemmy.world, etc) as well? The lack of access to subscribed communities on the old.* frontend, despite its advantages, makes it borderline unusable.
Your account is only your account on one instance. You can have other accounts on other instances. However, you can access and post to all of the communities, content, and posts on all federated instances from your one account on one instance.

So far I have to create a new username/password on each instance and subscribe to all the things I want to on that new account.
Why are you needing to do that? You only need one account on one instance and you can subscribe to all the things you want on every instance (assuming that it hasn't been defederated for some reason). That way you'll only have one account with one list of subscribed communities instead of differing ones on different accounts.
Now I just need a subscribed community dropdown list like I had with RES

I'm glad to see this community pop up here. While I don't live there, I have family in the Koots and spend considerable time there every year near Slocan. Absolutely beautiful country, and wonderful people around there!!

Is this just me or is anyone else having issues where suddenly when clicking on a community or post they are logged out? These seems new as of the 0.18.2 update.
Edit: I found this post where various users on lemmy.world are having what sounds like the same issue.

Crossposting from Reddit bot is taking a vacation
Thanks for all the feedback on our crossposting bot for bringing linked content here from Reddit! Reviews have been mixed, as expected.
The bot will be turned off for a couple of weeks, or perhaps permanently, while we see how the community grows without the Reddit content.

Thanks to everyone that has posted or DMed about the bot doing the Reddit crossposting, and giving me your thoughts! Reviews have been mixed, which I expected, about whether or not the bot is useful or annoying or somewhere in between. It's getting turned off for now and I'll let the community grow organically.
It can be something used occasionally, turned back on temporarily after two weeks, or scrapped entirely (it's not meant to be permanent regardless). The next couple of weeks and the thoughts and opinions of community members will let me know.
Does anybody know how to unban a user from a community on Lemmy?
I accidentally banned someone and now can't figure out how to unban them.
