  • I don't really get the hate for that decision. For years, r/all was just straight up bots upvoting posts. You had posts with 50k+ upvotes and about a hundred comments in total. And the karma farmers made sure you saw the same post 2 or 3 times on the front page, just from different subreddits.

  • Being able to say "I'm not going to vote if there is no progressive candidate, I don't care if republicans win again" must be nice when you're not the one being actively hunted down by ICE. But hey, at least you'll have a good view at immigrants being detained and sent to another alligator alcatraz from your high horse.

  • It's even worse to see open sources projects use Discord for communication.

  • Hopefully, as a side effect of the current situation, software developers will be a bit more mindful of ram consumption. The "just buy more RAM bro" argument isn't really working nowadays.

  • If I had that much money to spare, I'd split it in smaller parts and donate to smaller projects that I use. I feel like Mozilla, Signal or KDE are doing pretty well at the moment, but what about some random developer that works on, for example, an open source app that you've been using for years? Some of them just get a few bucks once in a blue moon and that's it. I believe they should be appreciated more.

  • To be fair, it has the same rating as Firefox. Though because of the URL hijacking scandal alone, Brave should NOT be trusted.

  • I'm so happy that in the recent years Linux made leaps and bounds in terms of usability so now we have an alternative that actually works well, especially since Microsoft just stopped caring about desktop Windows users.

  • Valve is using Team Fortress 2 character names as codenames for their runtime library.

  • We've already seen Fedora bend their knee to the US laws. I'm the past, a developer for kicked out of the project and banned from contributing because the country he was born in was on the US no-no list.

  • I switched my carrier from T-Mobile to Orange.

  • It fails for me (paid version).

  • "I'm getting low on my Twitter engagement money"

  • Damn, if only things like using a site without an account or jumping to a different instance existed.

  • Is being a tankie a requirement to create an open source project? Didn't know that. I guess Linus Torvalds is a communist?

  • I got to the point in my life where I just enjoy a basic Debian XFCE with no customization (except for removing the bottom bar and adding some shortcut keys). With so much going on in real life, I learned of enjoy the never-changing stability on my PC.

  • Red Hat/IBM owns the trademark, logo, pretty much the entire architecture, a majority of FESCo members are Red Hat employees, Fedora has to follow US laws due to the Red Hat link (mostly export, patents and cryptography laws).
