  • I mean, you literally told me you were okay with the Chinese government's intimidation plan, so yeah, I do have to ask. Nationalism is a hell of a drug, and ironically it's very international in where it's spread.

  • I've got an idea. If 90% of AI's output is accurate, just have humans review the 10% that will be inaccurate.

(Yes I am an AI expert, how did you know)

  • All this talk is too meta for me.

...Like the company Meta, after they named themselves after the Metaverse.

  • Among other things, I'd believe it because Wakmrow admitted to its existence, and then proceeded to tell me that its targets deserved it. Disturbing stuff from Lemmy, honestly.

  • Harassing groups of people internationally is bad and evil, is it not? "China" is not bad, no ethic or national block is, but policies like this are.

Harassing people across national borders because they disagree with you is bad, actually.

Calling ethnic and religious groups vermin is bad, actually.

    .... Right?

  • I'm perfectly willing to accept information when the evidence provided suggests the conclusion.

The evidence provided does suggest the conclusion. You just apparently distrust the source along nationalist lines. Predictable but unfortunate.

  • Do you know if Block and Square share the same group of employees?

I don't know where to look for legitimate sources on these things... I tried but got two vastly different numbers (5,000 and 12,0000).

  • Most arguments for surveillance (and all authoritarianism) boil down to either saving the children or fighting an eternal enemy. Obviously OpenAI does surveil all its users, but the "for the children" argument would hurt their user numbers (I wanted to say it would hurt their profits, but they don't profit off of any user). Thus, it's "but China" instead.

  • Tankie is when you're Chinese apparently.

No, it's when you post pro Stalin stuff on c/communism. Please don't be disingenuous about that.

It's just not believable.. so obviously fabrication for altman to show what a good boy he is

Okay, so you do believe it's a conspiracy between multiple parties to manufacture a lie to get onto CNN. That's just your position. No strawman needed.

I agree that Sam Altman is probably trying to deflect from all the (well-deserved) bad press he's getting right now... but if he was going to make up a story, it should have been closer to when he got caught helping teens kill themselves.

  • Ah I see. Disagreement is harassment, unless it involves calling someone nonhuman, then it's fine

And the upvotes are right, unless they're for the wrong person, and then they're fake.

    Get well soon friend.

  • Good job, buddy. You're advocating for giving cult numbers a reason to stay in the cult.

Do you feel the same way about the other four poisons? Are freedom advocates and Muslims fair game "poison"s too? Can we just call them vermin?

  • According to your metrics, how abusive are you being?

I'm not DMing with you, buddy

  • Or they live in the United States, where good healthcare doesn't exist, and the private sector is skirting regulations and stealing your data to offer you vastly inferior services.

There's a ton of "wellness" hardware and services that are being thrown at customers who are entirely clueless. But if the garbage service is something they can afford, and a trip to the hospital or something they can't, they might choose the garbage service.

  • It's Paypal but with Bitcoin apparently.

But hey, they say they are cutting jobs because of AI. So we have to take them at their word.

Clearly AI and Bitcoin are the future.

  • Using your metric: when you and your friend jumped into this thread to talk about a completely different topic, what should I assume about you?
