I debated how to reply to you for probably too long. The best reply I could think of, is the following:
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
No, a man with the right to be innocent until proven guilty is being presumed guilty before due process can be done.
There is a difference
Possibly/Probably but as I said. Right now win 10 runs all my productivity, gaming and streaming software such as OBS and Veadotube.
They run and run well. I have literally no incentive to switch to either a Linux distro or win11. If that changes, then I'll consider changing my OS, but until then...why would anyone?
I have no plans to either update to win11 or change back to chanting magic spells at my computer to get it to work (Ubuntu, many years ago).
My computer works and does everything I want it to. Basic internet security and reasonable precautions are sufficient for a low level user like me to stay safe.
As an older (55+) man, this has indeed been my life experience
I work at a Costco in Western Canada. Today (28th) was a little slower than slower than normal, but well inside the normal ups and downs we see. All of us are curious to see if the 1st is busier to make up for it.
Canada's Trudeau resigns citing 'internal battles' in governing party

Are these death tragic? Yes. But 40 deaths a year isn't something that's going to sound a call to arms. Perhaps money would be best put toward more mental health services for men, whose rate of suicides far outstrips that of women but have significantly fewer resources specifically for them.

Well tbh, I'm still working out how a lot of this federated thing works and this was my gateway to Lemmy after the Redditpocalypse
I was the buddy hanging on for dear life. The driver was a good friend, but a horrific driver. He almost got the title. Both times, cause they invited him back for the Worst Ever season
I was on a show called Canada's Worst Driver. Hence my username
I'm relatively sure that the shooter will turn out to be someone who had a loved one suffer and die because they were refused health care coverage. This may turn out to be only the first of similar incidents.
As someone of Ukrainian descent I do. My grandfather fled the Holomodor to arrive in Canada in the 1920s, where he was able to put down $20 and prove out a section of land in a 5 year period to earn title to that land. That said, I am glad you used an actual news source. When I first saw that they were youtube links I was already going, "Oh boy, here we go again with a raging conspiracy theorist," but I was pleasantly surprised that it was DW News, an outlet that plays on my smarthub, along with CBC news.
That said, you have anything newer than 2 years ago? It would be interesting to learn if there has been any progress on this.
You wanna link some of that claim?
Nah, just somebody who was lucky enough to soar with some actual sword masters over the years. I'm no Jill Bearup, but I know which end goes into the other guy.
You obviously haven't fought anyone with a sword. And before you ask, yes I have.
It's also called being ready for anything. It's what you do when you aren't entirely sure what the idiot on the other side is going to do.
The world's best swordsman isn't afraid of the second best swordsman. He's afraid of the world's worst swordsman, cause he can never be sure what the idiot will do.
Same principle.
I'm 58, and the only "code" I've ever written is hexadecimal for the Apple ][+ we had back in high school. Which isn't even remotely close to what actual code is. Thanks for the attempt at insult, but it's my reality, so fuck you too.
Some questions:
What version of Linux does Fedora install? Is it directly compatible with Windows software such as games and OBS, or does it require modifications/compatibility installations such as WINE? Does it have documented support online or is it a matter of haunting forums and such for when problems occur? And no matter how solid an OS is, I will tend to break it, generally by doing stupid shit, but I will break it. Before putting it back together. Which is generally how I tend to learn software.
Frankly, I don't care.
I'm going to keep using Windows 10, updates or not, until I absolutely have no other choice, hoping against hope that the cracks in the Recall/AI monolith with have spread wide enough that a future Win 12 or 13 won't have them in it. I don't run a business. I don't keep sensitive information on any internet capable devices and my work uses the AS400 system.
I know Linux is a thing, and about a dozen years ago I spent a year using Ubuntu exclusively. While appreciating the OS, I got tired of chanting magic spells at computer every time I wanted to use software I liked on it, and so went back to Windows.
These days, despite being a reasonably tech savvy person approaching 60, I'm getting to the point where I'm just not up to learning/relearning an OS unless there is a critical need, and using Windows 10 there just isn't. At least not for me.
