  • I think it is a pile of dead bodies, but I'm not convinced it is a systemic mass slaughter. I think it was a cellblock riot that was put down. I watched the propaganda video where Bukele was introduced to CECOT and it had plenty of lethal weaponry on site. They spoke deliberately and clearly about how the prisoners would be treated with lethal force if necessary and I believe them. If it were a mass extermination, they would have built facilities to do that. It's well known that the Nazi deathcamps were built to psychologically insulate the guards from the terror they were inflicting - and CECOT is clearly well built based on the designs of other prisons. The designers would have definitely taken notes from the deathcamps if that were their intention.

  • Let's be fair about this - we're going to experience a new form of fascism. It won't 100% mirror what took place in Germany. Nor will it be exactly what happened in any other dictatorship where civilians were murdered to further support the regime.

But what I'm expecting is more like a Rwandan style civil war where MAGAs use their guns to slaughter their neighbors.

  • Yeah that part blows ass. My solution for now is an appletv. They at least don't shove ads down your throat and their main business models are not based on collecting user data for advertising or databroker purposes (looking at you, google).

  • I've been planning to do the same thing when our current batch of TVs kick the bucket. But I was going to use an appletv, not a NUC, because all of the streaming services only serve 2k through browsers but their apps can get 4k+. And for the rest I'll run jellyfin and serve from my home media server. The TV will never see the a valid internet connected network.

Recently my roku tv started showing a blaringly loud auto-play ad on the homepage once every 2-3 weeks. FUCK THAT.

  • They make more money from those continued sales through their app store and commercials. I've heard (on reddit news articles posted to r/technology, so not exactly the most reliable source) more than the profit for the initial sale of the tv because they actually subsidize the initial price and may sell it at a loss to get those ads in your livingroom.

  • I just found some on reddit. What other communities are out there? I'm digging through the 3d print sharing websites but those never feel particularly... community oriented or really communicative at all.

  • Don't forget the hundreds of bomb threats against voting locations in blue districts. Or the hundreds of thousands of voters that were de-registered without their knowledge. Or the fact that getting an ID can take up to 6 months, even for a renewal. Or that voting locations were redistributed out of blue cities and into red suburbs.

I'm not sure I buy that teh election was stolen with rigged tabulation. But millions of votes were suppressed, especially in swing states.
