  • People who like Jordan Peterson can't read books .

  • I’m saying that when legislation is proposed to protect the consumer/people, everyone’s excuse to not support those kinds of laws involve the hand of the free market. In actuality our government has been captured by the owner class and they change the laws in their favor when they are getting fucked by the hand of the free market.

  • An away team goes down to a pre-warp planet to mine dilithium crystals. One of the redshirts is listening to Journey's Don't Stop Believing, unbeknownst to the redshirt, he is spotted and overheard by one of the planet's residents. The prewarp resident runs off to consider this musical discovery. The planet evolves into a utopia that worships music. It eventually gets warp. It is visited by the Federation and the planet plays the world's anthem for them; you guessed it, Don't stop believing.

  • America is only free market when it comes to policies that protect consumers. When it comes to anything else it's a fucking free-for-all.

  • When you have a small pp you have to find ways to compensate.

  • Clearly the thing to do is for each person to take one hand off the line, and then continuously high five the person next to them to create the clap. Never give up. Make them make you.

  • Epic’s corporate overlords don’t have an original thought rattling around in their collective heads. Their entire business model is to flail around, copy anything that seems remotely successful with a reskin, and hope it sticks. Not even free products will convince me to download their laucher, or anything they put their mierdas touch on.

  • Some of us have already been burned by EPIC and we aren't going back.

A decade ago, I was playing a game called Paragon that was being "beta" tested via EPIC. (I would say it was an alpha release because there were SOOOO many changes to gameplay and map, no sane person would consider it a BETA test.) Steve Superville was in charge. Early iterations were pretty sweet, match length could go 40-60 minutes because there were lots of mechanics that could dramatically shift the flow of a match. This is because the game was being designed as a MOBA, and it was a true MOBA. As someone who enjoys strategy and MOBAs, the early product was amazing.

Then the bean counters entered and forced production to reduce map size because they felt a 40-60 minute match was too long, despite no one from the community complaining about it. The bean counters forced more map shrinkage in an attempt to make the game play more like a brawler, when it was clearly not. They were just trying to ride the overwatch hype train because brawlers were successful at the time. Eventually Steve Superville was forced out of the project and they brought in Donald Mustard, because he was willing to turn the project into a pay to win riddled with microtransactions piece of trash.

These corporate bean counters alienated their entire customer base and acted surprised when the product failed. The best part is that while it was in BETA, they were fucking charging money for skins. When they closed the product you couldn't get a cash refund for the skins you bought. You got refunded in credits you could spend on their other products. I was alpha testing Fortnite at this time too. It was a plants/zombies type game with building. When they axed paragon, they rolled tons of those assets into fortnite, and redesigned the whole product to mimic PubG, because they wanted to ride the PubG hype train. No way was I willing to accept anything less than a cash refund for what I spent while I was beta testing their product.

  • Leticia James is amazing. I worked for a Fidelis care and they had managed medicaid plans for NYS. Pre-covid a gentleman was approved for pain injections, but couldn't get into the office before his authorization ran out, because anything non emergent was closed. Once the doctor's office was open, the doctor submitted a new request, with the same clinical information, and it was denied. I put an appeal together for this man, painstakingly pulling the clinical records from the first authorization, the second authorization, EVERY PAID CLAIM related to his condition, AND EVERY RX CLAIM FOR PAIN MEDS the company paid for. 4 hours of work. The appeals team denied it in 15 later. I rage quit, helped the man file an external appeal through the state department of finances. The state ruled in favor of that medicaid client. Then I helped that man file a complaint against the insurance carrier with the NYS attorney general, (Leticia James.) There was lots of other bullshit going down at Fidelis, like denying claims for covid testing, which I also helped consumers make complaints about because I new what was going on was illegal. Leticia James raked them over the fucking coals. She has been fighting for everyday people, and she makes me proud to be a NYer.

  • If the stuff is oil based, dousing your face with cream, which is full of oil would get the crap out of your eyes faster, then you douse with water to disperse what's left of the oil/lipid. Edit: Just did some more reading and milk cream is not better as it can spoil and introduce bacteria into your eyes.

  • The study does not take drug use into account, although it says it does, none of those results are published in the study or the supplemental index materials. This study is not well done, and as someone with a PhD in neuroscience, I would have given it a thumbs down if I had gotten to peer review it based on how drugs are talked about in the study vs no published results on that topic. One positive thing I will say is that Canada's single payer system makes for a large population to conduct studies, and the findings indicating that people are being diagnosed earlier are crystal clear. What they don't talk about is the rate at which people seek out medical help for mental health issues. One confounding thing about culture is that availing oneself of psychological help was often viewed as shameful or as a weakness among the boomer and older generations, it's likely that fewer boomers sought out help or possibly waited until they were older with more sever symptoms before getting help and a diagnosis. It's a complex issue with lots of confounding factors.
