I did the same. They like to pity play you to keep you from quitting too. It's pathetic.

It's sad to see the Bowery King mystery mongering.
The 900 MHz band, a frequency range serving as a commons for all, is now at risk due to NextNav’s brazen attempt to privatize this shared resource. Left by the FCC for use by amateur radio operators, unlicensed consumer devices, and industrial, scientific, and medical equipment, this spectrum has...

Investigating claims there could be asbestos in make-up and the industry's response.
This is a well produced series. I'm tangentially professionally exposed to the talc issue so I'm aware of a lot of these problems.
I recommend folks add to their podcast feed.
The claim that medical error is the third leading cause of death in the US has never been close to true.
Logbook of The World Returns
In just received the following. I went to the login page and it is up:
MEMBER BULLETIN
July 1, 2024
Dear ARRL member,
Effective 12:00pm ET / 16:00 UTC we will be returning Logbook of The World® (LoTW®) to service.
As work progressed on the network, some users encountered LoTW opening briefly during which some 6600 logs were uploaded. The logs were not processed until this weekend as we tested that the interfaces to LoTW were functioning properly.
We are taking steps to help manage what will likely be a huge influx of logs. We are requesting that if you have large uploads, perhaps from contests or from a DXpedition, please wait a week or two before uploading to give LoTW a chance to catch up. We have also implemented a process to reject logs with excessive duplicates. Please do not upload your entire log to “ensure” your contacts are in LoTW as they will be rejected. Lastly, please do not call ARRL Headquarters to report issues you are having with LoTW. You can contact support at
Field Day
Is anyone else doing Field Day? How's it going? In the NE US, it's been very hot and humid with occasional thunderstorms.
Running a QRP station here and taking a break for the evening. Planning on getting up early tomorrow.

I had a VE session the day of the hack so I'm glad to see things are working again.
I'll check it out. I've been using Breezy Weather and have been happy with it as well.
MFJ Enterprises, Inc founder Martin F. Jue, K5FLU, announced that as of May 17, 2024, the company will cease on-site production at their Starkville, Mississippi, facility. Ameritron, Hy-Gain, Cushcraft, Mirage, and Vectronics brand products will be affected by the shutdown.

D75 versus FT5

Do people have thoughts on the newest flagship HT from Kenwood? He brings up some worthwhile observations. I just got a FT5DR and I am not impressed with it's stock battery life when compared to my HTX-202 (greatest rig ever made and will ever be made) or my AnyTone AT878UVII+.
I also like him pointing out the manufactures not providing drop in chargers for these expensive rigs. It's bullshit.
Winlink Email?
I don't seem to be receiving emails from the internet despite having the addresses in my whitelist.
Does anyone know if I'm missing a setting somewhere? I do receive other Winlink emails.
KM4ACK is a Great Resource for Linux Hams
He has a lot of good tutorials and covers a lot of RPi stuff. Worth checking out.
Just Updated My QSO map
Having just completed the ARRL RTTY Roundup, I thought I'd update my QSO map.
The tool I used is: http://tools.adventureradio.de/analyzer/.

The ARRL RTTY Roundup is today. Anyone else planning on participating?
I like RTTY and would like to use it more often and these events are some of the few times when I know there will be QSOs.

I'm kind of concerned about the "minimize interference" for the majick Tesla powerbeams (wireless power transmission).
I'm for the preemptive de-federation.
I'm sure they'd vote against a bill for colorblind people too.
Not my kid. She only had it on for a specific reason and she only accepts she had to put up with it for now.
She's more than happy to bring it up as an issue from time to time.

Ok. I've put in a SSD, I'm looking to add RAM (I may be already maxed out), and run zswap, etc. I guess I'll be sticking with LibreOffice.
I use the laptop for ham radio stuff, mostly, and things like an office suite are secondary.

How is it on resources? I have a i386 project computer running Debian 12 and I'm looking to make it as "modern" as possible. Right now, my fight is with slow browsers and LibreOffice (I'm trying to avoid the Abiword, etc route).
Time-lapse of Solar Cycle 25 displays increasing activity on the Sun

After having seen some articles of the recent coronal mass ejection and the possibility of a K5 geomagnetic storm, I thought I'd share this time lapse of Solar Cycle 25 thus far from NOAA.
Numerous commenters have told the FCC that a proposal to “modernize” the shortwave band is a threat to amateur radio operators in the U.S.
These videos exist for monetization purposes.
Does anyone know if one where to view videos through Piped, NewPipe, FreeTube, etc the view would count towards engagement?
Basically, it's the same upgrade procedure as Debian's with the added step of editing rasp.list.
10 Meters was Lit Today!
Did anyone else get to take advantage of 10 meters opening up today?
I would recommend someone get in touch with the NLRB - it can be done anonymously, if needed.
Just about every single union out there has an advisory board that includes employers.
Absolutely not true. I believe you are confusing a Labor Management Committee - which is a common space for the Union and bosses to meet and discuss issues.
Bosses are not in legitimate Unions.
Source: I serve in an elected position in a sizable Union where I also serve on a Labor Management Committee.
Secondly, Unions are for the Workers - not the bosses. To hell with "costs." Enough sympathy for these people. If they can't afford to pay their workers a good wage and provide them a quality work/life balance, they don't deserve to be in business.
I know where you're coming from. I have direct access to my music at home and use Strawberry to play them.
Plex (as far as I know) is only "free as in beer," so i doubt you're going to have any success finding a 3rd party music player. I have the Linux app for when I'm away and don't want to use my phone but the tiny, Android-sized Plexamp app on my desktop is out of place, and has its own eq, compression, etc.
This may be the most awesome post I've seen in a decade!
I was a Xubuntu user for about 15 years but have an old EeePC running Debian.
I just recently moved my main, home computer (10+ yo EliteBook) to Debian 12 and am very happy. I will be soon moving my amateur radio "shack" computer (bought last year) to Debian as well.
Forcing Snaps and Snaps' terrible usage of disk space (in my experience) is what made me move. The annoying Firefox update warning only served to aggravate me further.
I do use a couple Flatpaks (did with Ubuntu as well) but it was my choice - not a requirement. I haven't had any disk use problems or bad experiences with them.
If like add another question - how about in a RPi too? I believe there is a LineageOS android TV out there. For anything have any experience with it?

On my "John the Fisherman" fishing playlist.
Probably not.
KeepassXC with Syncthing is the best option I've found.
