  • Do you have a link to the article that contains this graphic?

  • I've found FAIR to be a good media criticism site that links extensively to their sources. That said, some of their criticisms are aimed at opinion columns rather than headlines. I only read them on occasion, so I can't vouch for the site as a whole.

For Iran, they posted two articles last month

    https://fair.org/home/leading-papers-call-for-destroying-iran-to-save-it/

Stephens is citing people’s outrage against the US government killing a protester as a reason they should support the US government inflicting more violence against Iran. The logical corollary to that would be that if you’re opposed to Iran suppressing anti-government forces, you should therefore be in favor of Tehran launching armed attacks to defend protesters in the US.

And on January 16, the Times of Israel conveyed comments by Tamir Morag, political correspondent for the right-wing television station Channel 14, according to which “foreign actors” were arming the Iranian protesters. The Times observed that Morag had been “careful in his report not to explicitly implicate Israel in the alleged weapons transfer,” but had been “more flippant” on social media

  • I've seen him described as a very specific tech libertarian, which I think checks out. By running his own repair shop, he is firmly petit bourgeoisie.

  • I was under the impression that Milosovic himself was not responsible for the war crimes during balkanization of Yugoslovia. The NATO court couldn't even convict him. Am I missing something?

  • I hate to revive an old thread, but I want to at least provide you with a response.

You're probably right that China never had the type of internet that you're describing. My original point still stands though. What are we comparing here? From what I understand from the discussion, your gripes about the modern internet stem from the push for monetization and de-anonymization. I would argue that both are large issues in a capitalist society but not the same in a socialist one. I don't care of a fascist gets deplatformed from Douyin or if a Taiwanese separatist gets outed on XiaoHongShu.

  • In what way is the DPP "reformative"?

The DPP has engaged in systematic whitewashing of European and Japanese colonization. Their whole basis for Taiwan independence rests on the claims that a) China engaged in colonization, b) China and Taiwan have different roots, and c) actual colonization was benevolent compared to Chinese rule.

The actual indigenous people of Taiwan remember death and occupation under Imperial Japan. They remember that Qing rule left their way of life largely unchanged. They probably harbor gripes against KMT for its earlier assimilation policies, but a majority still back the KMT over the DPP. (ex. https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/news/5094197)

  • I'm a bit confused. As I understand it, your post is about large socialist platforms vs decentralized socialist platforms. Your response here now compares decentralized platforms with large capitalist platforms. How does the latter relate to the former?

  • Could you please post a link?

  • I'm pretty sure it's a joke based on their username.

  • Disagree. How do you think we should be promoting socialism in our lives? I think this episode of US imperialism is a great opportunity to talk to our relationships about politics. After all, we need more people to subscribe to our ML vision for a revolution to happen.

  • For reference, CBS & YouGov from Nov 25th found that 30% supported and 70% opposed "US taking military action in Venezuela." I don't think these poll numbers really show a significant shift in support for the US strike.

  • Ah, you're referring to the subreddit. Understood.

  • Huh? What are you talking about?
