I feel this as well. I have a condition that makes it hard to breathe, so sometimes I just blackout from lack of oxygen. The only time this happened in public, I had a seizure to accompany and wet myself. I woke up with a bunch of dudes looking over me and had some stranger's fingers in my mouth because he was worried I'd bite my tongue. Yeah. No thanks

Are there any social faux pas you fear?
For example, I'm terrified of smelling bad
Oh. What a... lovely picture you've painted.
(It is gross, but I have the absolute utmost respect for the things emt / firefighters / medical peeps put up with. Hats off to you all)
I really wanted a new car, but I guess I'm instead going to look into some fixes on my little guy.
I read you're supposed to do that like once a week. Gross
The "I just read a 500 page book in one sitting and now I feel empty inside, like a deflated balloon. I should maybe eat." hyperfocus has always been my style.
Gosh, the laziness.
I taught myself every single song on my parent's electric keyboard when I was a kid, so they got me a bigger, better one and I learned every song there and then some others that I painstakingly figured out by ear.
But did I ever do my homework? Did I every get xyz done on time? Did I constantly misplace everything?
I wish I had been hyperactive and disruptive in class so maybe someone would have helped me earlier.
My own reasons:
- Long story about never getting diagnosis for a lung condition, leading to pretty intense heart failure
- Following that and finally getting healthcare because of that, finally get dx'd for ADHD at 30
- I can't take stimulants because my heart will explode and I'll die.
- None of the other options work for me. 🙃
I actually think it might be slower based on the processing power. There's a trick on the Switch (one, I guess), where you have to pause and play a few times while looking at areas that take longer to process and it somehow accelerates your flying on the glider like crazy.
Also I think one of the new tricks is wiggling yourself with a shield drawn on frame perfect side to sides, so it might make that harder if the frame rate goes up?
But I have really only a basic idea of these things.
Already mentioned.
- Slime Rancher
- Fields of Mistria
- A Short Hike
Not yet mentioned (at least that I saw)
- Potionomics
- A game where you play Silvia, a potion crafter who has taken over her uncle's shop on an island full of adventurers. You get to meet many kinds of people, both adventurers and not, and have a chance at romancing pretty much all of them (at once, if you select the polyamory mode). The art style is adorable (please physically release the cards, devs) and the voice acting is so well done.
- Monster Prom
- Strictly a slice of life / dating sim about trying to get a date for prom. The cast of characters are very cute, as is the art style. It's also multiplayer if you're into that.
- Emily is Away
- I believe this one is free. It's a nostalgia blast for those of us who grew up with instant messaging like MSN or AIM. It's been a while since I played, but I remember it being cute and very interesting.
I second Fields of Mistria. It's just better than Stardew Valley in my opinion, in almost every way.
Happy feelings, maybe.
Cry your heart out, absolutely.
Gosh, I'm a little jealous. My soda addiction has got a right hold on me. Specifically Barq's root beer lol. I'm trying to wean myself off slowly by cutting caffeine first and then hopefully transitioning to the less sugar sodas and then off soda entirely.
But hey, I'm happy for you, that's excellent!
As someone from the PNW, I agree with the other comment. Fuck blackberries. Stupid tasty invaders.
Low sodium diet for my heart - which is shockingly hard to do. In the US at least, it seems like everything has added salt. It's absurd how much salt is in a can of beans or soup. I do my best to stay away from premade or processed food.
The saddest thing is that I don't salt my meals when I cook, at least not really. I love to cook but that really hampers the taste in many many things.
What's the image when you have depression + ADHD, but with no deadlines and a complete and utter lack of executive function so you just lay on the floor all day and plead with yourself to at least eat something?
The Boy Bands Have Won is my absolute favorite album by them, and no one would ever guess it's the same band as Chumbawumba
Once a week?? My god.
I walk my 10 year old husky 3 miles a day at least, and we usually go to the dog park at least every other day. He's showing signs of aging, but he acts like a dog half his age.
I pulled up zombo.com the other day for someone l!
Love thst
I am so on board with you
I was diagnosed with a nasty rare condition at 26 and since then have been taking a minimum of 7 a day.
However my highest is probably 21 a day. (I ran out of a medication I take at 1600mcg, and was supplemented with 200mcg pills for a week or so. So 2 doses a day of that is already 16 pills.)

Are there renter friendly ceiling fans?
I've seen some that can potentially be fit into a recessed light, but I'd have to do some research to figure out how to know if the cans are attached to studs. Beyond that, I can't seem to find anything. Anyone have ideas or tips?

Do you have any tattoos, piercings, or scars that you regret?
Or other permanent body things.

Do you have any tattoos, piercings, or scars that you regret?
Or really just any permanent body thing.

Thanks for the shoe recommendations
A while back I asked what kinds of shoes might work for me and there was a lot of discussion about barefoot shoes. Well, I found a small local sports store that physically sells Lems and I went to try some on.
Wow. These are the best and most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I got them about a month ago at this point and I have probably put 2-7 miles on them every day and according to my Fitbit, that's nearing 100 miles and they're still the most comfortable shoes ever.
So thanks, community! I'm super happy I asked !

Less sugary soda? (US)
I have a real addiction to soda and I desperately need to cut back at least on the sugar.
My problem is, is that the zero sugar ones - whatever sweetener is used hurts my throat (and tastes awful), and same goes for the diet versions. I could force myself to drink bubbly or La Croix, but knowing myself, that's only going to cause an awful rebound soon enough. So I've been trying to find alternatives that don't break the bank. Poppi is fine and I've tried other low sugar bottles from online stores here and there. That's expensive, though.
So I guess has anyone tried to cut sugar in other ways? I have tried watering things down and I've tried using just sparkling water to keep the carbonation but water things down. I have also tried sparkling water and powdered drink mixes and that is truly awful, imo. I haven't tried mixing a Soda Zero with a Soda (regular) and I wonder if that would help? At least to begin sort of a transition?
I dunno. I'm babbling at this point. I know it's mostly

Divorcees of Lemmy, what was life like post split?

For US folks, is right now a good time to buy a house?
Since the election I've kinda buried my head in the sand to try and stay sane, so I'm not sure what projections are looking like for the real estate market. Unfortunately I need to move pretty ASAP and I'm having the worst luck with rentals.
So, anyone have any advice or an idea of the outlook in the next few months?

People with wide or flat feet - what are your favorite shoes?
I've got heart problems which means my feet are pretty swollen, so normal shoes aren't really comfortable anymore. I've been wearing Alterras and I love them and the wide toe box, but the wide sizes are only in a boring color. So I'm looking for suggestions from you lovely folks.

It looks like black cats are in, so here's my void bois

Can a laptop docking station be used on a KVM switch?
I can't find an actual answer anywhere.
I'm trying to declutter my desk and a KVM switch sounds like the right way to go. I have two monitors that I use for work/play, but I'm having trouble figuring out if the output from my work laptop dock would be okay to input into the KVM to then output to dual monitors.
Anyone got a clue or has any experience with this?

What are the scariest horror movies?
I love horror but apparently I don't vibe with a lot of recommendations I find online.
I'd seen so much hype about Event Horizon and I absolutely hated it and didn't find it scary. I just watched Late Night With the Devil and whole it was definitely enjoyable, it wasn't the least but frightening. I also just watched Let the Right One In and really didn't like it. It also was not a horror movie in my opinion.
I will say one of my favorites is Sinister or the first Conjuring. Sinister for the stomach twisting dread and suspence throughout and Conjuring for the same.
So, what movies do you find to be the scariest?

Dahlias!

Stumbled upon a rose and dahlia garden with a ton of different species. It was such a a gorgeous place and a gorgeous day. I took a bunch of pictures, but this one really sings for me.

How are things in Baltimore after the bridge collapse earlier this year?
Just checking in on y'all.

How do you say you want a divorce?
I'm really stuck. I've been unhappy for years and we've done couple's therapy and tried to reconnect, but it's just not enough.
I have a bad habit of feeling guilty and responsible for everything and I just can't see a future where I hurt my partner so badly. I don't know how to sever myself from the relationship and alllllll of the stuff and responsibilities. My partner slacked off when it came to college internships so they've been unemployed for years, and now finally found a fast food job. But that means that if I leave, they're done for. They can't pay the mortgage alone, nevertheless the bills or food. They also mentioned in our therapy that their greatest fear is divorce and I don't know if that's because they're still so attached to me or if it's the fear of having to make it on their own.
How do I uproot their entire life over my unhappiness? That just doesn't seem like something I could possibly do... but I can't stay here, I'm withering away.
Help?

Can anyone else get to Beehaw?
It appears to be up on Web, but I can't seem to get it to load in at all on Liftoff, and I've been making sure to be on my Beehaw account.
I have cleared my cache and checked for updates. Is this just a me problem or a bigger problem?
