  • I read the first 3/4 of it, then gave up because I don't care about someone trying to talk sense into a political institution that has repeatedly failed working people since Tony "War Criminal" Blair came into power.

The use of "alarm bells" and "radicalised" didn't come off as sarcastic, so I still think this is a stupid article.

  • I have read it, it literally says that some young women are being "radicalised" into voting Green, which is intensely ridiculous.

It appears aimed at bending the ears of Labour, but anyone who has been around for a while will know that Labour is very good at ignoring progressive or environmentally minded voices from within their own ranks.

  • How to do basic mindfulness meditation, which isn't difficult.

I'm not usually into that sort of thing, but it does help.

  • I haven't come across anyone who has given me more than a light ribbing about not speaking Catalan (I can read it just fine).

Only something like 25% of people living in Catalunya have Catalan as their first language.

  • And I'm saying that young women voting more to the left is no reason at all to sound an alarm ... if anything it's a good thing, given how the British centrist parties keep fucking people over.

  • I did a one day guided meditation course from someone who knew what they were doing ... it has helped me sleep well ever since and generally avoid burnout when I'm under serious stress.

  • Sounds like they need a while army of Caroline Lucases!

I suppose all the young and determined people are busy protesting or in jail.

  • Then why did they use the phrase "why isn't this ringing alarm bells?" to describe the only leftist political party remaining in the UK?

The Guardian sells itself as a left-of-centre newspaper, yet they attacked Jeremy Corbin repeatedly, platformed the "gender critical" hate group, and now think that voting for the Greens is something that should be alarming.

They also market themselves as the only paper to actively cover environmental news ...

  • Boys will be boys!

  • This article is shite, voting for the Greens in the UK is not some radical act. For many many years they've been the only progressive or humanist political party available.

Source: used to live in Sheffield back when they had good coverage of the Greens, before the tree wars.

  • feddit.uk has been defederated

  • Blahaj user and former Brit here ... well done Ada for consistency and transparency regarding this.

The whole "let it play out" attitude really says it all, it shows cowardice and a lack of leadership ... kind of like the current prime minister.

  • Can confirm. It's nearly warm enough to break out my Capri jeans :-)

  • Sad to say, but that's a familiar story.

It's great that you're now making efforts to right that sort of wrong now!

  • Please give her a hug from me. And if you happen to get a chance to stab her supervisor ... well, I'll not say do it, because that would be illegal. But sometimes accidents happen ...

  • Yeah, that's the thing, the majority if guys are OK or better ... it's just there's enough arseholes to hold women and minorities back when there's no or unenforced DEI

  • It's very hard to not be polite when that's how you're raised to be from day one :-/

  • No.

  • They break up a lot quicker if you run over them with a mower, which can also spread out the bits leaving a tidier looking lawn, thus keeping the HOA happy (maybe)

  • Yuuup. Woman in engineering here. I once had a supervisor whose behaviour I thought of as normal, but two guys I worked with separately reported him to HR for bullying after seeing how he treated me.

It's funny, I had many years with almost no career progression, now my boss is a woman and I'm having to get used to the idea that bonuses and promotions are things that actually happen when I work hard.

  • I had that with a contractor who had had my number for work purposes. He kept trying for 5 years.

I'm a butch lesbian, my mistake was being polite and chatty with him.

  • Prey used heavy CGI for the wild animals, especially obvious in the scene with the bear.

First viewing I was blown away and thought it might be a top 10 movie for me, but it doesn't feel so good with repeated viewings (while I still watch the original Predator every couple of years or so)

Looking for youtube channels for / by "progressive women shooters"

Hi, Iḿ not in the US, but earlier this year had the opportunity to try shooting firearms of various sorts for the first time, and it's something I'd like expand my knowledge about ... when I go on youtube the videos I've seen have been American with a right-wing lean which range from comedic, through surreal, and into creepy.

It would be nice to see content from people who are vaguely normal.

(Edit: especially if it has to do with revolvers!)
