  • This always baffled me when I had a friend who showed me his Plex server years ago.

So you're using a service which makes it easy for you to host and access everything wherever you are, pulls in all the metadata for shows and movies and you're not worried about them tracking all of that?

When I finally set my own up I used Jellyfin from the start, I prefer as little tracking as possible but thats just me

  • I left after they closed off the API and shut down third party apps. I could never go back, whilst Lemmy hasn't always offered the same amount of content, its always still offered good content, plus I know I'm guilt free of supporting Reddit and what a shit show they've become 🙂

What's a good alternative to messenger that I can plausibly convince friends to move to?

Knowing what a privacy nightmare all meta apps are, I'm wondering if there is an alternative option which is more privacy friendly but still has some of the ease and simplicity of some features such as messenger.

I already know there will be friends I can't convince and thats fine, I may just have to accept that. But if I could avoid using it as much, I'd really like to.

What's an impulse purchase you've made and it turned out to be awesome?

So I kind of impulsively bought a Steam Deck OLED this weekend, I hadn't really done much research and I haven't really played any games in about 15 years.

Now I have to wait for it to be delivered and, I'm worried this is something I'll use a few times and forget about it.

What's something you impulsively bought and fell in love with?
