I watched this movie when I was a lil' kid. I didn't really "get it" bc it was cartoons, right? So I figured it was kid stuff. But it's not. It's kind of a slightly sleazy Italian take on Fantasia. Like take a look at it's animation of Ravel's "Bolero": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcmgI_kgPhM Now that I'm older I'm like that's pretty freakin awesome, but at the time I was like wtf?!? There's another song that has an aging satyr and as a kid I was like: I THINK something's going on there that I might undersand someday....
Anyway apparently there's a 50th anniversary showing in NYC next month, and if you're anywhere near there I recommend you get to that theater and check it out. Apparently they're showing it with "Fantasia" so it is literally a b-movie. But it's really more of a cult movie. According to Wikipedia the Disney animators of the time respected it. Hopefully there'll be a wider release, at least in art house film theaters, it must be amazing to watch on the big screen.
it's take on Bolero ... it's true... civilization really is like that....

That sounds perfect, thanks.
