They should be on Mastodon, but that transition seems quite unlikely this election cycle.

Aslo wanted to note, the federal NDP is on BlueSky, although they aren't as active as they should be. There's some provincial accounts too, although that varies from province to province.
Here's a few of their handles for those looking:
Living the Dream: How NSL founder, Diana Matheson, is determined it remain a reality
I admit, I had to look up Liz White. I'm not sure why you bothered to include someone who manages less than 250 votes while ignoring the dozen other party leaders with similarly limited support.
She has an interesting perspective but, like other micro-parties, the Animal Protection Party is not likely to meaningfully contribute to a minority government (even with proportional representation)
Australia and Canada Poised to Join British-led Sixth-Gen Jet Fighter Program
This isn’t just a conservative dream of the Commonwealth reborn — it’s a flexible, forward-thinking framework that appeals across the aisle.
This seems a little far out there, but if they move ahead with it hopefully they'll lay down an internet trunk line too. Right now, the vast majority of Canada's internet traffic runs through a trunk line via the US.
I also wonder if it might be more feasible to explore developing some sort of battery-tanker that can just be pilotted across, plugged in, and the pilotted back for recharge...
It's worse than you think.
The author criticizes national-level projects by proposing projects that are entirely handled provincially (or even municipally, specifically in Toronto & Ontario). Yes, this is TVO, which is Ontario-specific, but confusing the responsibilities and capabilities of two different levels of government is not beneficial.
This shouldn't be an either-or situation, but more of let the nation focus on one, and the province on the other. That said, bolstering the judicial system and adding some doors isn't really going to do much for the economy...
Plan for subsea cable to send Canada’s clean power to UK - The Times
Do you happen to have any links/info? I figured there were others in the works, but I have no clue where.
CANZUK Space Program
I was reading an article about the UK set to land Europe's first rover on Mars (https://news.uk.cityam.com/story/2318834/content.html), and it set me to thinking about whether a CANZUK alliance/confederation/whatever could have a significant space program of its own.
Australia's current launch site is military. Canada's is a not-yet-operational joint venture of 3 USA-based firms. And New Zealand's is controlled by a firm that is now USA-centric. The 3 UK-based sites are in various stages of readiness. All sites are currently intended for satellites, as opposed to manned missions (with the possible exception of Cornwall); however, that doesn't mean this can't be adjusted down the line.
Launch sites across all 4 countries could work very well for a rapid implementation of constellation satellite systems, which could include anything from improved Internet services, secure GPS services, telcom/media services, defensive monitoring, etc.
If sites are expanded to support manned missions,

UK and Australia collaborate on Land Mobility Platforms - UK Defence Journal
The UK has confirmed that the Land Mobility Programme, aimed at enhancing collaboration between the UK and Australia on military vehicle development, is currently underway.
The leader of the UK's Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey - who leads the third largest party in British politics - has endorsed CANZUK.
So, from my understanding, the bill dies, but the petition persists. Thanks for clearing that up!
Once the election is officially called on Sunday, will the bill be considered dead and have to be reintroduced in the next parliament? In effect, don't petitions also die when the bill associated with them dies?
It may as well be delayed until the bill is re-introduced with the next government, as it may not even be re-tabled in the House with its current deficiencies.
This is true (about an hour before any official policy was released), which means it was published as a half-informed leak instead of news of actual policy. However, claiming an (inaccurate) leak as released policy remains misleading.
Like most USian news sources, the article is misleading. Ford said he will add a 25% export tax on electricity IF tariffs persist. He did not provide a timeline on exactly when he might do it. He referred to this as "keeping the powder dry"
As Halifax prepares for April kickoff, city embracing 1st pro women's sports team
New Zealand international Monty Patterson has landed in the Canadian capital of Ottawa.
Definitely a big day. With the launch of NSL this year, hopefully we'll continue to have a selection of great players to keep all our women's teams near the top of the rankings for years to come. Definitely looking forward to the next WWC.

The inaugural season kicks off April 16th with Calgary facing Vancouver.
Personally, I have to wait for April 27th, when AFC Toronto faces Ottawa Rapid FC.

Whitecaps open 2025 campaign away to Deportivo Saprissa in Champions Cup
In leg 1 of the Concacaf Champions Cup preliminary round, Vancouver was beaten by Saprissa.
It's the Whitecaps' fifth appearance in the Champions Cup and their first time facing Saprissa, the most successful club in Costa Rica, with 40 domestic titles.
Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-17 National Team dominated, winning all four group games and outscoring opponents by 26 goals
In addition to qualifying, the CanM17 squad set a new record for most consecutive wins (6).
With the team having qualified for five of the last seven U17 World Cups, it's a good window into the growth of the game here in Canada.
Some lads to keep an eye on!
Moncton would be fun, and is likely the only other option in the Atlantic. Newfoundland could perhaps manage something in St. John's, but travel is always a big issue.
I think we'll see more of a Halifax - Moncton rivalry materialize in League1 Atlantic, with an eventual upgrade to bring the rivalry to the top tier once a club has more solid footing.
The real shame is the continued absence of any side in Quebec. Montreal and Quebec City are necessary additions to the league, and the fact that they aren't top-2 for 2026 remains concerning.
It has been an eventful year for the Canadian Premier League since Transfermarkt last caught up with commissioner Mark Noonan. Calgary-based Cavalry FC won their first league title, and on the transfe [...]
Noonan talks about player sales, CPL expansion, pro/rel, growth of League1, and a few other things.
Kelowna & Windsor are front runners for 2026 expansion, but Kingston is a strong possibility.
National Teams only?
Is this community only for the national teams & news related to Canada Soccer (the organizing body), or should it also include CPL / NSL / L1Canada / MLS (Canadian Teams), and/or youth/grassroots soccer across the country?
I know some Canada Soccer communities (Reddit / FB) tend to be restrictive on that. I don't want to post news about non-national teams here if it isn't welcome, and I also don't necessarily want to create new communities if it is (why fracture an already small community?).
This sounds cool, but it doesn't look like it's intended to ever go to market.
Maybe there will be a pivot with the current political situation state-side, but that doesn't seem to be the purpose of this project.
Still, a project worth rooting for! I just signed up to receive updates straight from their website: https://projectarrow.ca/

Are we just going to copy/paste the rules from Reddit, or are we devising a different way to launch the Model Parliament?
If I see any, I'll be sure to let you know!
[email protected] is actually the 2nd or 3rd oldest city-based community on lemmy.ca . It's not very active, but should definitely be added to this list.
Also, [email protected] would be a good community to add to the soccer category.
For team-specific Canadian-based soccer teams, there's [email protected] of the MLS (US-league with 3 Canadian-based teams). Other MLS sides include Vancouver Whitecaps and CF Montreal, which I don't think have a community created.
None of the 8 Canadian Premier League teams, nor any of the numerous League1 Canada sides have taken steps to establish their communities yet (as far as I know).
Peertube is the Fediverse equivalent. It needs more content, and more instances to host said content, but it's a good start.
