  • It's not a sealed system like a personal computer uses. They're on a huge huge scale. They use evaporation / cooling towers. But those lose a certain amount of water to evaporation which needs to be replaced regularly.

Why hasn't congress passed a law saying that you can only deport people back to their own country?

Since we're using El Salvador like it's a new Gitmo. Like yes, it would still suck for the people from El Salvador.

But at least people from other countries would go back to their home country. Presumably to be treated far better than El Salvador.

  • No, because the rhetoric has changed dramatically after winning the election. Now that he no longer needs votes. He made his "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters" comment on January 23, 2016. That was back when he... needed.... votes. What you're saying is old news. He cannot legally run again. He no longer need votes. As a simple statement of fact.

  • Trump "cancelled" DEI in all American Universities by saying federal funds would be cancelled if the programs were not eliminated. Nearly all major universities did it, because they really had no choice.

  • I just gave an example of AI taking a human job.

To me it's one of the biggest dangers of AI. Not that it will take our jobs, but the harm it will do when it occasionally does. AI is a useful tool for people, absolutely. But dumb managers will think AI can replace entire jobs. And it will do those same jobs at a much much lower quality than even the lowest paid human would. With no room to talk to it and fix the problems like a normal human. We're already in a situation with Uber/DoorDash/etc. were the algorithm is the boss with no room to argue with it.

Like if you thought sweatshops produced low quality, wait until AI is running things. Quality control is out the window. And that's a feature as much as it's a bug.

How much is this jar of coins worth?

I'll take it to the bank tomorrow. It's never been raided for quarters. About 6 inches across. Could be $30-$60 in my estimation.

    Closest guess gets a reply.

    EDIT: It was $79.85

$45 in quarters, $18.60 in dimes, $8.10 in nickles, and $8.15 in pennies.

Airfare $19.86 surely way below fuel cost. Who even came up with this system?

Google's AI is using past tense to describe a sporting event that takes place in 3 days. And it knows who won too.

I was looking for info about the upcoming event. I got a guess about what might happen in the future. Cannot describe how useless this search result was.

Just changed my default search engine to DuckDuckGo. Can't be worse than this.

Feels like every action movie in the 21st century is about revenge killing

John Wick, Taken, The Equalizer. Too many to name. Saw a preview for The Amateur (2025) which is another one coming out soon. It seems like that's the ONLY justification for killing they can come up with.

Like this is the logic here: "Okay we need an action movie with lots of henchmen to kill, what evil thing can that bad guy have done in the 1st act so our hero is justified in killing tons of henchmen?" So the bad guy does some overtly evil thing at the start of the movie (often unrealistically evil). Then killing people is the rest of the movie. Revenge happens. The end.

I enjoy action movies, but I keep seeing the same revenge-killing movies that feel like copies of each other.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, who inherited the team three weeks ago after the abrupt firing of Robert Saleh, stood at the podium, eyes glazed, voice shaking at times. He was trying to make sense of a once-promising season that appears all but lost.

"I'm pissed; they're pissed," Ulbrich said of the players. "I'm hurt; they're hurt."

The Jets (2-6) dropped their fifth straight game, a demoralizing 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots (also 2-6) on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. It was one of the franchise's lowest points in recent memory, and Ulbrich, sharing his postgame message to the team, called it "a moment of darkness."

Three weeks ago, the Jets were playing for a share of first place in the AFC East. Now, they're tied for last with the Patriots, who despite losing quarterback Drake Maye (concussion) in the second quarter outscored the Jets in the second half 18-9. Editor's Picks

Browns' Watson carted off with noncontact injury

CLEVELAND -- Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a noncontact right leg injury toward the end of the first half of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Watson's leg appeared to hyperextend as he tried to carry the ball on the first play after the two-minute warning. Watson immediately gave himself up and fell to the ground.

Shortly thereafter, a cart came onto the field and carried off the emotional Watson. The entire Browns sideline came onto the field as Watson was placed on the cart. Editor's Picks

The Browns made Jameis Winston inactive as the emergency third quarterback, so Dorian Thompson-Robinson entered the game to replace Watson.

Watson, in his third season in Cleveland, has struggled this season, posting the lowest QBR of all qualified passers. He was 15-of-17 for 128 yards Sunday before the injury.

Who would you drop to pick up a TE for Goedert's bye this week?

Lowest rostered percent is Jauan Jennings. Having 3 defenses is a lot, so I assume probably drop a defense, but which? Browns have been disappointing and so have the Jets. Jets might be the best option to drop?

I'm going to pick up Colby Parkinson for just 1 week while Goedert is on a bye. Can't help but feel that the 5-12 points he's going to contribute won't even be worth the trouble.

What's your most watched sports movie? Name one for each sport you watch.

Rocky? Rocky 2-4? Slap Shot (1977) is fantastic.

For basketball I'd say Hoosiers (1986) is good. For American Football? Jerry Maguire (1996).

Do you know a place to find large/tall clothes?

Americantall.com is where I've been buying from recently. Do you have another option? ' I'm 6'4" and 200 pounds. A typical large is too short. XL and XXL is wider and not longer. I need a place to order a Large X-Long.
