  • I'm using GPodder with AntennaPod on my smartphone and Kasts on my PC. Works good if you don't switch between smartphone and PC very often (it syncs every x minutes with the server, so it can get out of sync if you start using your other device and sync hadn't happened yet)

  • I kinda get why the GrapheneOS developers don't want their product discussed on reddit: Imagine you're searching for a problem with GrapheneOS and the only thing popping up is a Reddit thread. They don't want their users having to go there as the "only" option to get their problem fixed

  • Mailbox.org now has normal 2FA

  • You could use third party clients with 2FA enabled in the past (at least I could). I think I used my normal password for the clients, so no real 2FA on that side, but that's no different from the new app specific passwords. IMAP doesn't allow 2FA so every mail provider allowing third party clients essentially has a weak point with no 2FA there.

  • Paperless-GPT looks promising:

paperless-gpt seamlessly pairs with paperless-ngx to generate AI-powered document titles and tags, saving you hours of manual sorting.

Always wondered why this isn't built in, since paperless-ngx already has some nice AI features. When uploading a bulk of scanned documents, it's always a hassle to name them all something meaningful.

  • Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but this app could be useful someday: https://github.com/ligi/SurvivalManual It's also available in F-Droid, but didn't receive any updates for 4 years. It's basically an easily navigatable pdf that tells you what to do in a survival situation

  • Well written! I've had a similar experience with a habit tracking app. I've once stopped using it and after getting back to it after a year or so, it was so much worse with so many new pay walled limitations. An open source habit tracker on the other hand stayed the same for years and was even improved further. If you're inrerested: Loop Habit Tracker https://f-droid.org/packages/org.isoron.uhabits/

Screen turns off for a second every now and then and mouse movement doesn't match witch display poll rate

Hello, I use Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and I got a strange problem without knowingly changing anything: Every now and then my primary display turns black for a second and then back on. My secondary display is working fine. My speakers are also connected to the display, so I'll hear a sound from them when it happens. I can't make out exactly what causes the turning off/on, but when I don't touch anything, it happens less frequently than when I'm working, switches windows, etc. Furthermore while my display works well with 144Hz refresh rate, my mouse input works at a noticably much lower refresh rate. I tried restarting my PC and replugging my DP-Cable and power cables. I'm relatively new to Linux so I don't know what the causes could be. I hope someone can help me :)

    Selfhosting Location History

Hello, I'm looking for a good tool to selfhost some kind of location history similar to Google's one. To have some data I can test the tools with, I merged every of my bicylce and hiking tours to one GPX file containing 7000km worth of travel. Then I tried this tool, but it really lags with so much data and every move and every zoom takes some seconds to load. Next I tried the "Phonetrack" app on my nextcloud instance, but this as well lags and I have to activate every track manually and they are color coded. I really like the connection between the phonetrack app on my Android and the nextcloud app, but I am afraid that I'll eventually run into the same performance problem when I gathered enough data. I've seen that theres OwnTracks, but it seems you have to set up your own server and I don't want to pay extra next to my nextcloud subscription. Do you know of any kind of location history tool I can use that can handle big amounts of data?
