  • Saying sharing info is "at best" a coping mechanism seems a bit silly. With how algorithms keep people locked in their own bubbles, I'd say it's super important to share information you don't think everyone sees.

My mom had no idea about that student that got arrested, for example. I know for a fact most of my friends and family wouldn't know.

  • No thanks

  • I honestly think it's kinda lame since you can't see who is just being a troll. That said, there's only like 15 or so people on here so it's not that big a deal as you pretty quickly learn who people are and can just block them or whatever. lol

I also never thought it was a big deal on reddit!; never understood why the people that "didn't care" about karma seemed to care so much about others having it.

  • If I see a border patrol officer, I'm treating them like absolute shit.

I once was a bit dismissive/rude to a friend of a cousin when I learned he had just moved to SoCal to work as border patrol. Initially, I thought it would be cool to make a new friend. I legit couldn't help it. Come to find out a couple years later that he quit because he couldn't handle the cruelty/racism. I somewhat regret not being a bit more friendly to him, especially considering he was one of the good ones (the ones that leave). If it were today, I'd maybe just be more clear in my reason for being rude. Communication and whatnot

  • In political science, a reactionary or a reactionist is a person who holds political views that favor a return to the status quo ante—the previous political state of society—which the person believes possessed positive characteristics that are absent from contemporary society. As a descriptor term, reactionary derives from the ideological context of the left–right political spectrum. As an adjective, the word reactionary describes points of view and policies meant to restore a status quo ante.

As an ideology, reactionism is a tradition in right-wing politics; the reactionary stance opposes policies for the social transformation of society, whereas conservatives seek to preserve the socio-economic structure and order that exists in the present. In popular usage, reactionary refers to a strong traditionalist conservative political perspective of a person opposed to social, political, and economic change.

Reactionary ideologies can be radical in the sense of political extremism in service to re-establishing past conditions. To some writers, the term reactionary carries negative connotations—Peter King observed that it is "an unsought-for label, used as a torment rather than a badge of honor."

  • She's a Dem in case anyone's wondering. It's not mentioned 'til the 14th paragraph

Sounds like a good thing.. afaik. Seems like it was ripe for abuse. Bet it was nice for the rich folks. Hopefully they'll support "handouts" for others too

  • No return

  • Can you clarify? You're saying you don't currently want to try TT because you don't think it's existed long enough, and/or that you didn't try it before because you didn't think it would last that long?

Idk dude, the latter would literally be exactly what people said about the Internet. "It's just a fad", "it won't go anywhere/be useful/last long".

I mean, our ineffective af government was somehow able to rally bipartisan support against this very popular app that many Americans use to create/manage/advertise their businesses, one that is the only slightly left-leaning social media site and one that isn't controlled by American oligarchs. But you still think it's not important?

That's fair. lol. Agree to disagree. They're not coming for "us" at least!

  • I love supporting protests and am quick to point out how they can shift attitudes (e.g. occupy) but I would struggle to say one positive result from the pussy hat protest. Can you help me there?

If I had to guess, I would say it helped him with his base more than hurt him or helped the opposition/our side rally support.

The protests against his abusive anti-protest tactics were a lot more successful in rallying support on our side, for example. Didn't last more than a couple months, but still

  • No return

  • Anyone else feel like millennials/xoomers that refuse to use Tiktok are as out of touch as boomers that refused to try using the Internet? The sound almost exactly the same

I would hate to be that stubborn

  • Those weren't meant as insults bro.

It's something many/most of struggle with. It's not a death sentence or a stain on your character or some kind of moral flaw.

It's just how you communicate. It's not conducive for true connection with others. That's all I'm saying

I only started realizing it about me like the last 2 years. I never used to actually try and connect with people.. like I'm doing now. Sucks it under these circumstances, but that's life

    I'm free all day man

  • You're hurting bad buddy. Please go call someone that can help.

Lot of people still care about you on this dumb little site.

Never said this, but message me if you wanna talk. You definitely got a friend in me, if you can forgive that I upset you

  • I never insulted you, bud. Sorry if what I said hurt you. Hopefully we can work through this.

You certainly don't deserve to be treated like shit, and I still think you're pretty cool.

Hoping you get this and haven't blocked me! lol

  • Sure but what's their excuse? Is everyone simply a huge Meta investor? That'd be my best guess for how multiple people try to achieve something like this without looking at the consequences - personal gain. But I'm still inclined to believe these politicians/surrogates want to do a decent job and/or get re-elected

  • Bro, I don't know you and I got nothing against ya. I absolutely appreciate you commenting on shit that might be dead otherwise.

That said, you're kinda doing it right now. I'm saying you're a bit too sure or yourself which could be an opportunity to reflect and understand why I would think that, but you're more inclined to defend and lash out without trying to fully understand what I'm trying to communicate to you.

Please don't take it the wrong way. This isn't an attack on you as a person, but moreso maybe on how you communicate with others - not sure. I know for sure you got tons of cool personal traits. Your comic sub is awesome! This is just something most of us could/need to improve on. It probably wasn't the best way to communicate it to you though. lol. Hope we cool! :)

  • You made a factual statement about the app pushing Chinese propaganda. I was wondering what the source was for that claim? Sorry I wasn't clearer.

Also, lol. I wasn't making fun of your age, I meant it as more of a statement of on your way of thinking. It's very boomer-like - that is to say, you seem quite close-minded and stubborn and unwilling to consider that you might be wrong.
