  • So while that is a fun fantasy, and let's say it's even plausible. What do you do afterward? Do you execute the police officers in the street? Do you ship them to a re-education camp set up by the fifth column in the foot hills of the rockies? How long do you keep up the charade? Parallel Systems of support are needed to fight a fascist government, not just a bunch of larpers on an afternoon.

  • Thank you, Lemmy is looking like a slippery slope back into Reddit today with everyone just screaming at the headlines without knowing the full stories or context.

Have you read the article? You should it pretty short, and the Headline absolutely gets it right.

  • What she’s saying is to use the word “kings” instead of “oligarchy”. Which I get. Sure - do that. Makes sense. Same argument, same vitriol, more punch.

Still don't agree with that. Oligarchy is a very specific thing that we are currently living in. We don't have a king, not even by the most new-speak of definitions.

Detailing her plan, Slotkin – a former analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)

Also hard pass. The CIA should be shuttered they will never be able to provide solution to the problems of capitalism, because their number one goal is to secure "US Interests Abroad" meaning, prop up the oligarchy.

  • Dams are extremely ecologically disruptive and generally shouldn't be considered part of "green" infrastructure. Not that small scale dams don't have a place in good environmental stewardship, but a good way to tell if someone advocating for "green energy" is full of shit, is their position on hydro-power. That said even ignoring the downstream international impact of this dam, the consequences of "the largest dam" in the world cannot be ignored if you want to pretend to care about the climate, which includes river ecology.

  • A bargain at twice the price.

    "Revenue: US$202.8b (up 4.1% from FY 2023).

Net income: US$17.7b (down 17% from FY 2023).

Profit margin: 8.7% (down from 11% in FY 2023). The decrease in margin was driven by higher expenses. "

Plus they won't even end up paying that much.

  • That university had no business banning those words and ideally the people who came up with the banned words would be guillotined. Because if you don't nip thought policing in the bud, you end up with what the current administration is doing in an official capacity. Then the next step is the subject of various over referenced books and dystopian fictional stories except real.

A good piece that sums up a lot of what I called corporate virtue signaling about a decade ago.

"Wokeism is out. Bigotry is in. Meanwhile, inequality continues unabated."

A pretty standard pro-environmental piece, however I do appreciate how it calls out the "German Green Party," which is obviously just an astro-turfed political party funded by the coal industry.

And of course the criticism of about the farce of Carbon Capture is spot-on.

A growing number of Senate Democrats appear open to making it harder for migrants to seek asylum in order to secure Republican support for aiding Ukraine and Israel.

This is what the democrats stand for. Unlimited funding for the MIC and border-control, but social issues are not a priority.

Stop voting for the parties of Capital.
