NEOShinjuku Atsushi had amazing vegan burgers! And the cyberpunk theme was cool. Hope that place is on your list.
Japanese culture is all about respect and being polite. They are much more likely to ignore you than insult you. In fact, it seems to be somewhat impolite to strike up a conversation with strangers in most situations. I think the nightlife in Japan may be different, as people open up more when they're letting loose.
However, if you try to move there, know that they never fully accept foreigners into Japanese culture. You will always be a bit of an outsider.
One more thing to note is that people online will always be meaner than people in real life. Places like reddit and Lemmy are not accurate representations of real life communities.
Well, you're reading it wrong. It's latin, like magna cum laude. It basically means "with."
Maybe that's the point. Citizens aren't going to deport themselves, so it's just a really random extortion racket. Or maybe it's not random, but so far it's unclear whether all the people receiving those letters have anything in common.
The whole "open to work" thing started during the pandemic, when everyone was supposed to be staying at home. It was how chuds signaled to each other that they didnt care about the lives of others, that the economy was more important than people dying. The fact that anyone is still using these banners is just... weird.
Still? Fucking really? Supporting Palestine is now fucking thought crime, and you're still saying genocide Joe not genocide Donny? Gtfo.
If you're a professional cook, it's literally a health code violation to have painted or fake nails. Long fingernails harbor bacteria. But yeah, spend enough time in the danger pit playing with fire and knives and you'll end up with some extra confidence.
Why would insurance even think of covering something like that? As if rape is just another cost of doing business... and not just any business, specifically God's business.

It's the way people keep bringing it up. Like my mom, who I'm pretty sure doesn't even know anyone who is autistic. But she continually wonders why there are "so many of them now," as if it's a problem. She doesn't consistently bring up any other societal issues such as, why are there so many traffic accidents or increases in cancer diagnoses (although she does bring up increased crime even though it hasn't actually increased). I just can't fathom why she worries so much about autism when her life isn't affected by it whatsoever.
Social Security lists thousands of living immigrants as dead to prompt them to leave, AP sources say
I guess you missed the post where everyone was complaining the protests are only filled with centrist libs? How many actual tankies exist in the US, do you think? Maybe all of them live in your city.
I'm sorry but after the details OP shared, the chance of this happening are close to zero.
"...whenever I try to say something that I think will make him proud, I always leave disappointed telling myself "never try again".
I know exactly how that feels, and OP has likely been trying for more than 20 years. Plugging emotional quarters into a slot machine that never pays out. Talking to a brick wall feels better than trying to connect with a parent like this. At some point you just have to accept you didn't get what you needed from them and you won't, ever. It's not a matter of you trying hard enough. The parent just isn't capable of that emotional connection.
And to OP, I haven't figured out how to not let it affect me either. You could look into trying to reparent yourself, though that only goes so far. I think looking for healthy male role models in spaces like this or IRL is also a good step. If you haven't read the book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" I recommend it.
Wait are you saying you think Quebec is a country or that you don't know where Canada is? I guess the username is appropriate either way.
A split would create North and South Koreas. If we don't split, I'm afraid we will only get North Korea 2.0

But how do they know which email that might be? Do they even know which of my accounts are for business or personal use? If I send an email from my business email to a bunch of friends and relatives to plan a party, will Google assume those are subscribers and pull my party-planning content from my email and put that info... somewhere... on my business page? I don't want them reading any of my emails, ever.
The email from Google was laughable in that it contained almost no info on how this process is supposed to work. All it means to me is that I don't have control over my own content. This should have been opt-in instead of opt-out.
And crop dusting, ffs. Spraying actual chemicals on our food is totally fine for these people.
I don't know why you would think Kroger is any better. My local Kroger has basically turned into a police state, with uniformed cops following people, extra gates at the entrances, and now half of the products are behind locked glass or in a separate purchase area. It all feels incredibly hostile, and I know they aren't actually losing that much merchandise. It's all just theater to scare us. I don't know if they have any DEI programs but if I had to guess I'd say probably not, based on their track record of dumb decisions.
I think at this point MS Word automatically recommends a hyphen after any number + quantifier combo. One time it wanted me to correct "three armed guards" to "three-armed guards" which would have changed the meaning considerably.
The number of times MS autocorrect suggests incorrect changes to grammar is laughably high, and most people just blindly follow the suggestions.
Yeah, he's trying to declare any fundraising done by democrats as "fraud." What I'm saying is that Kamala and the DNC are once again completely out of touch, thinking the original rules are still in place and we're playing the same game we were 10 or 20 years ago. They could raise all the money in the world and it would not matter. The bigger the number, the louder Elon will yell fraud. Reality doesn't exist anymore.
This is the latest email the Harris team sent out. I have no idea why they think Trump et al would ever be "impressed" by any number.
"In just a few days, the DNC closes the books on the most important FEC fundraising deadline since the last election.
When this deadline ends, they are legally required to report how much money they've raised. The number of donations they've received will also be public.
Everyone will be watching: the press, the Trump administration, and more.
They're looking to see how much grassroots enthusiasm there is for stopping Trump's agenda, and these numbers are a big part of that.
If they file a big report with lots of donations, Republicans will know they'll face stiff opposition when Congress tries to pass Trump's tax cuts for billionaires, paid for by cuts to lifesaving programs.
If the DNC files a weak report, then the Trump administration and the press will see there's no pushback to what they're trying.
So this is a big deal. And it's why the DNC is hoping for lots and lots of donations before this deadline ends."
How would it help to leave? Lots of cowards have already done so. Have you ever considered that maybe it's because so many progressives are leaving that now we don't have the numbers you want to see when we protest? That the people who would have been protesting are already gone?
I'm fully willing to die fighting fascism in this stupid civil war, but it isn't a war until we get some governors and coast guard on board. Until that point, anyone who does anything violent is just a 'lone terrorist' and will probably be disappeared to El Salvador.
Leaving is not speaking out. Leaving is not fighting. It is only for your own survival, and it leaves the rest of us with less to fight with and less to fight for.
