Nope, it uses the MS hypervisor to run a VM of Linux with a deep filesystem and networking integration
CEOs are weird. DDG might be a privacy champion but it is still a for profit company. Meaning Weinberg wants to make bucks too. If Chrome is worth $50bn what does that make ddg worth? If Google get slapped with an anti-trust and forced to break up, who might benefit from the big bucks that might be floating around? And ever noticed how CEOs tend to fail up? Fluffing google is a nice advert for the next head of google search here.
Show me monetisation strategies, and hence value per user for the installed base if you want to claim that kinda figures imo
And if you start fucking with them then they will all go to Google's new browser. Just like the old one. Not all, but you get the picture. Chrome isn't worth $50bn to anyone but Google
Given the core of the product is open source (see chromium) I find it really hard to believe that the brand is worth that. Google could sell it for an amount and release Android Internet and it will do almost exactly the same thing. And users I suspect won't care. Google needs broken up for sure, but the browser brand makes little sense to me being separate
Great read. Hard to see how people could fall for these myself but some must or they wouldn't still be operating. I'm more surprised they aren't asking for bitcoin
Jerboa, very Reddit is Fun like, on f-droid too!
That isn't it's primary reason for existence, and it is essentially a volunteer driven org. And so if no-one was going to adopt the package, we have to wait for the maintainer to find some time. https://archlinux.org/packages/?packager=freswa - here's some of the 167 packages maintained by the last toucher of the Redis package
Thank you Frederik!

There goes a few Scots I'm sure. Would sooner have seen O'Gara with some actual coaching experience
Given Salmond has died, Sturgeon retired, and 2014 was pre-brexit, pre Truss, pre Boris, pre Starmer. We have at least had a political generation between 2014 and today. With the orange goon at the helm of tanking the world, the timing isn't great for independence, but who knows when a vote would be held, and how long negotiations would take either.
But Scotland will rejoin the EU. That's it, that's the selling point, the only reason to campaign on. We'll setup Pound Scots and peg to the euro to enable transition as soon as we are able, to answer the next inevitable question.
Who will head this campaign? Can't see Swinney leading it. Will Starmer acquiesce to this request? Can't see him currently doing so, but also can't see him making it through another GE currently, except of course the Tories are looking even more hopeless right now.
With Holyrood going to the polls next year, an independence majority is again likely. A request for a referendum is likely to be made again. Could Starmer grant one to settle this matter forever ala Quebec? Will Labour be able to refuse one given the kicking they are going to receive?
I can't see it now, so not sure. Even without the other community, what good comes from spoilers in the title?
Given there is another f1 community, I subbed to this one as it isn't full of karma whores who spoil race results for upvotes. They add literally nothing to the discussion, and are adamant in their ability to be able to do so. I think this community should be different
I wouldn't bet on that
After securing a shutout for the second week in a row in Europe, who can stop Leinster from winning a fifth Champions Cup?
Happy Saturday, I'm just out of the Edinburgh vs The Bulls match, and it was great. I missed the Glasgow score until now, and had to post this article. Who will stop Leinster?
To get back on topic: I bet you pull your phone out at the urinal
French rugby cult hero Sébastien Chabal does not remember 'a single second' of his career
This is why tackle height has changed. I literally bumped into him in a post match Edinburgh function with my wife, who speaks excellent french, was struck dumb by the encounter and I still wind her up about it. He was phenomenal, this is rather tragic
Old habits die hard. But the most teenager comment I have seen on lemmy needed a rebuttal
Cars have gotten bigger and safer. Sure, the engine is heavy but it isn't massive battery packs causing that. A naturally aspirated V10 is a dinosaur, I've no interest in dead end tech. We must keep at least the kinetic recovery and electric turbos imo. Lithium is light even, lets make that part a monster
Sure, loads of sewage. But it also had smaller settlements, less people, and human waste was recycled more in times gone by too. Far more water was far more drinkable even 150 years ago
Lol, we definitely have had clean drinking water for far longer than we have had dirty drinking water, thank the industrial revolution for that. And try skipping a shower for a day - you'll be fine. Soap also has a long history https://www.soaphistory.net/soap-history/ over 4000 years
So literally wrong on all three points. Perhaps you need to read more instead of doom scrolling and swapping nudes on your smartphone
As a big fan of the film, here's hoping
Any surfers think they could actually surf on these?
Statistics say it is good news. Not every tackle is better, but on the whole it is getting better
Researchers at Edinburgh University used video analysis to study tackles from 60 men's community matches in Scotland.
Finally some good news on concussions
Scottish Premiership semi-finals. Heriots vs Watsonians
Bloody baltic here in Goldenacre today. But a cracking game of speed vs strength with Heriots the bulkier team losing 0-12 at the break

European cup action this weekend, enjoy folks!
Wish story
Tonight was my first ever Wish spell in a DnD campaign! My character could have used it to stop a war, kill mindflayers or anything… but instead I went for something smaller and way more personal: she wished for her friend who died to be resurrected. It was such a powerful moment, AND I got to giv...
Fun thread on Mastodon, who's got a wish story themselves?
Match thread: Six Nations round 5
The finale. It ends today for 2025. Last weekend saw the setup for this weekend where the battle for the spoon heats up, and the winner is determined by the final game.
1415 Italy vs Ireland
\
1645 Wales vs England

2000 France vs Scotland
As always, predictions before, reactions during, and analysis after all very welcome. Happy super Saturday and remember to pace yourselves!
Here's our round-up of the big talking points from the fourth round of fixtures in the 2025 tournament.
Much better than my talking points. Ireland only seem to turn it on vs Scotland now. England are sill improving, watch out in 2026. Wales have a long way to go. Scotland need some new forwards. France finally showing their depth, and 7-1 benchs need banned. Italy also need some new forwards, their backs are fantastic too
I have 6 points though, one better than the lazy BBC
Match thread: Six Nations round 4
Last round we saw a spirited Wales drift off the 2nd half vs a still yet to peak Ireland. England steal a win over yet another misfiring Scotland. And France stomp on Italy. Leaving Ireland top of the table, followed closely by France
So isn't it fitting that it's our first game this weekend? Miss this one at your peril, expect big tackles, trick plays, and drama to the final whistle. Following up is the always spirited Wales vs a Scotland team that should be doing better. With pressure on both coaches: a mist win for both teams! Then Sunday we see if Italy really can kick on and at least give England a scare at Twickenham, but England technically still in contention so don't expect an upset here
1415 Ireland vs France

1645 Scotland vs Wales
1500 England vs Italy
As always; predictions in the comments, reactions more than welcomed, and your post round thoughts appreciated
Marcus Smith benched for England’s Six Nations game with Italy
Marcus Smith faces an uphill battle to regain his England place after Steve Borthwick sought to kickstart his side’s spluttering attack by axing the Harlequins playmaker
Oooh, big shock
Ireland's Peter O'Mahony, Conor Murray and Cian Healy to retire after Six Nations
Ireland's Peter O'Mahony, Cian Healy and Conor Murray will retire from Test rugby at the end of this year's Six Nations.
3 for the price of 1 here. They've all had Scotland's number for many years, so no tears here for sure. But you have to hat tip and acknowledge that they have been great for Ireland and have all earned a quiet retirement

1415 Wales v Ireland

1645 England vs Scotland
1500 Italy vs France
All GMT for timezones, and what a feast again. Wales with new management, hoping against hope to at least give Ireland a scare. Ireland resting a couple of players even
An England side that have a bit of bounce after stealing a win vs France last week vs an underfiring Scottish side that have won this fixture the last 4 times. This one on paper is too close to call!
Then an Italian side at home vs France that is licking their wounds. A draw last year, will Italy go one better?
As always, predictions, reactions, and comments always appreciated. Happy six nations all
Head coach Steve Borthwick says England are a "very different" side to the one which was beaten by Scotland in last year's Calcutta Cup meeting.
Some hype for the biggest game of the year for Scotland. Borthwick would say this, but beating France once does not magically make you a great team, it's only 1 result. Nor does beating a poor Australia. Nor Wales or Italy. I'm still scared of Twickenham, even if Finn Russell says he isn't. But I don't fear this England side either, and In hope the players don't either.
Both sides needing this game to keep hopes of (2nd realistically) the championship alive. The Calcutta Cup to play for!
Autumn Nations Series Fixtures 2025
5 weeks of November rugby for us later this year. An opener for the no2 spot to kick off, Scotland getting a crack at the last to win against nation week 2, Wales to struggle vs Japan week 3, Ireland getting a crack at the number 1 spot week 4, and Wales getting pumped to finish. Can't wait already and we're still 3 to go in the 6n!
