Can't log in to lemmy.world on desktop

    Hello,

I am wondering if anyone else is facing this issue.

I am logged in on liftoff for Lemmy.world but I can't seem to on desktop. It says logged in, but reverts to the public page despite multiple tries.

I have no issue on other instances.

Can someone explain different communities in different instances?

    Hello,

New to the Fediverse and there is some learning to do.

I heard if I had signed up for one instance, I will be able to see all communities across the board.

My question is, Lemmy.world and Lemmy.ml both have Worldnews comms. I can see the Lemmy.world one in Lemmy.ml with the url [email protected]. And vice versa. And sub to them accordingly right?

So this means there can be a repeat of communities across the fediverse?

    Reddit Sync Revanced patch

    Hi All,

If anyone still wants to use Reddit Sync there was a post up on the Reddit page for the Revanced patch. In case you might want to stick to Sync till the Lemmy app launches.

Here is the tutorial shared by the creator, u/KobeW50

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/preview?pli=1

I tried it and it worked. You can try it on Sync Pro if you have the apk.

I am pasting u/hihowareyou0_0's simple guide.

-Go to https://www.reddit.com/prefs/apps Click on "Are you a developer? create an app..." Give it any name. Set it as "installed app." IMPORTANT: Set " redirect uri " to http://redditsync/auth create the app. TAKE NOTE OF THE CLIENT SECRET (the gibberish text and numbers below the Name) Go to any Text editor (I use an app called "just notes") Copy + paste the client secret. (And nothing else.) Save the file and call it " reddit_client_id_revanced.txt " MAKE SURE TO NOT SAVE IT ON ANY Folder, JUST THE INTERNAL STORAGE/ROOT Download

    Hello,

I am curious as to why anything from lemmy.ml requires approval. And I can't make any comments on threads from that instance.

Didn't seem to have that problem with other instances.

  • Ironically Jerboa didn't work for lemmy.world, which was on 0.17 when I tried re-logging in which made me want to switch.

Connect for Lemmy, Thunder and Liftoff have all been significantly superior experiences. You should try them. Jerboa felt like a downgrade after.

  • Trying liftoff now. It looks great!

I tried thunder but it can't access my own posts and comments or replies so that's a bummer. The UI was super slick though.

Liftoff is more polished than connect but I think connect will be great in coming updates too. These guys are doing amazing work..

I am just getting more excited for Sync For Lemmy tbh.

  • It's a start I guess.

Right now the Lemmy community is in 'construction mode' moving houses from Reddit.

Before we get all our fancy stuff renovated, we need a couple of air mattresses to lie on the ground.

    Connect can serve that.

    Connect for Lemmy

    Hi guys,

I guess some of you like me are having issues with lemmy.world in logging on to Jerboa.

In any case, I wanted to recommend Connect for Lemmy. It has been a superior experience, has no issues connecting and no lags other than some minor bandwidth matters. Very close experience to Reddit Sync if you have used it before.

Lemmy know(heh) if it works out for you!

  • I started redditing about 8 years back. After digg.

Leaving reddit is hard but I have generally enjoyed forums and lemmy is a fun new experience I haven't had in a while.

If anything, in 10 years I can do the whole 'I was here at the start' thing on the younglings.
