  • Fear of society to collapse or civil war to break out, I guess. Sentence could use a "still"

  • Hey @[email protected], this post should probably now point towards [email protected] since showsandmovies have moved there

  • They are not deleting accounts, they are disabling access from these countries to the accounts. Which has of course the same effect but can be circumvented with a VPN.

  • Well that was quick. Bluesky is already blocking people from Turkey from accessing the posts of certain anti-government turkish users.

A FIA deputy president requested to seek legal advice to do his work. Instead, he was excluded from a World Motorsport Council meeting and had his e-mail disabled

Itโ€™s been a week now since I felt compelled to resign from my role of FIA Deputy President for Sport and I am genuinely overwhelmed by the positive response, from the very top of motorsport to FIA member clubs, colleagues, fans, and friends across the world.

Catch you on the other side
  • Btw this is the quote they use in their press release:

Sara Turkestani, helmet design competition winner, said: "The competition gave me the chance to utilise my passion for art and design and showcase Saudi Arabia's rich cultural heritage. The desert theme represents resilience and history combined with a modern style to represent F1. I am grateful for the chance to share my design, and I am so proud to see it on Fernando Alonso's helmet. It's such an honour to know that he will wear it for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix."

    And

The celebration began with Aston Martin Aramco Driver Ambassador Jessica Hawkins โ€“ who made history a year ago as the first woman to drive a modern ground-effect Formula One car โ€“ returning to the wheel for the second time. The symbolic journey saw Hawkins take the AMR23 across Saudi Arabia, stopping at a number of locations, including Ithra, Aramco's remarkable cultural home in Dammam, as well as a newly unveiled Aramco premium retail station, and finishing at the iconic Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

  • It is not that easy to define where "stunt" begins. If an actor tells me "I won't run down this alley, have the stunt person do it" I'm not gonna applaud him for being lazy. Actors doing small stunts is completely normal and should be. Big stunts of course should be done by professional stunt people.

  • Obligatory [email protected] mention!

Edit: damn it, has the toast instance gone toast?

  • I see that you have a very good quota of comments that you get on every lemmy post you make. I dont think that's true for every poster, especially when posting to niche lemmy communities.

But yes: of course the lemmy format invites comments way more than the microblogging format of mastodon

  • Seems like his manager thought he might have a chance at replacing Doohan at Alpine, and since realized that's not an option with Colapinto already being there

  • It's definitely intentional!

And I think the added benefit is that it subconsciously reminds the viewers of the original series, evoking positive feelings :P

  • Why does it look like the reptile ancestor and the mammal ancestors had offspring together?

Why did they draw Aang and Jinora so much alike? Lazy or intentional?

  • I mean, in microblogging a lot of posts will have no discussions simply because thats the nature of microblogging. But if you saw no interaction and discussion under posts of people who have lots of followers, then certainly yes.

  • After China they had a meeting with the shareholders which is of course a quite significant thing.

This here is just the RBR department heads coming together for a meeting, which you would expect given the situation with the car.

  • It means that if you see a post, you will finally see all replies and interactions to that post. Currently this is not working.

  • Lemmy is programmed in a way so it actively looks for communities/groups. But not individual posters. which is why lemmy can only display mastodon and pixelfed individual posts if they have been posted into groups.

  • Mastodon mainly only looks like there is no interaction happening because of their federating logic. Which is being worked on to be fixed sometimes this year

  • Hulkenberg really out of luck this weekend

  • Really? I thought they can choose when to serve it, even do an extra pit stop for it if they want.

  • Title

  • Accurate depiction apparently :D

The track surface at Bahrain is older than both Bearman and Antonelli

Hulkenberg's lap that got him into Q2 should have been deleted because of track limits, stewards admit

Hulkenberg was allowed to participate in Q2 because the stewards missed the fact that he had exceeded track limits.

Per @[email protected]: "FIA comment on the Hulkenberg track limits incident says Turn 11 wasn't a high priority corner so wasn't checked in time before Q2 started.

Holds its hands up with a final line admission: "On this occasion, we got it wrong." "

Hulkenberg has now been demoted down to P16 behind Albon because it's his Q1 lap that has been flagged as exceeding track limits.

But Williams must be furious as this stopped Albon progressing and caused him to be eliminated in Q1.

Cape Town bids own plans against Kyalami for F1 Grand Prix, presents track layout details

Cape Town organizers have unveiled new details for their street race proposal.

The South African government is nearing a decision on which bid to support as it aims to bring Formula 1 back to the country.

A return to a refurbished Kyalami, which last hosted F1 in 1993, and a proposed street race around Cape Town's waterfront appear to be the two main contenders to receive public backing, with a deadline for the bid committee's decision set for the end of April.

Cape Town's bid is hoping the central, urban location of its Tilke-designed 5.7km circuit, snaking around the Green Point harbour and utilising the facilities around the DHL Stadium built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, will help it get across the line.

F1 Academy champion Marta Garcia has been sent to the hospital after a huge crash in Le Mans Cup at Barcelona today.

A serious incident marked the first round of the 2025 season of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, this Saturday on the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. At a little more mid-course, the Iron Ladies' Porsche 911 GT3 R, piloted by Marta Garcia, was violently hit by Ferrari No. 51 in the third sector of the Catalan route.

The hook, for which Eliseo Donno was found responsible and sanctioned with a stop-and-go, caused a particularly spectacular exit from the track by the Porsche, literally pulverized under impact. A red flag was immediately deployed to allow for relief intervention.

Marta Garcia, conscious at the time of the medical teams, was taken to the hospital for precautionary examinations. According to the initial information provided, the Spanish pilot is currently undergoing a series of medical checks, with no further details at the moment.

Sainz gets a drop of three starting grid positions for impeding Hamilton

The stewards say Williams had "ample warning" that Hamilton was set to start a push lap, and then did so, and should have told Sainz. Three grid positions penalty is standard. This means Carlos will start from P15.
