  • I had similar experiences at a Dutch uni. I was mocked, stalked, isolated, terrorised and bullied into a deep and depression (with attempts) by people who claim they are “being political”, and “progressive”. These people also defended HR-policies (at a conservative uni) like DEI, and sustainability, and slandering me as if I was against “diversity”, even though I am literally a daughter of an immigrant, am an immigrant myself and have always lived with other immigrants and have not attacked or mentioned diversity. These people were also affiliated with my former supervisor who targeted me, she and her husband are now found guilty of academic misconduct, harassment and abuse. Sadly this all had a severe impact on me derailing my studies and life as a whole. Dear OP, I think its best that you find a political party or group within your country/area, or a group of likeminded people in IRL. Isolation is what reactionary lunatics want, pls get organized for your own sanities and quality of lifes sake.

  • I have lived in Germany btw, and my family had to flee from existential poverty and neonazis attacking us. (and this shouldn't escalate to who's is more German and who knows about Germany more).

  • im half german btw, though i live in belgium. I know that there are leftists orgs though there parties are hardly in power and are often already hidden. The problem I have is that this union guy is attempting to shift the overton window again, and instating a CDU/AFD hegemony. This could also mean people who are having opinions that are slightly left leaning could be targeted.

  • Reactionaries have been using "multipolarity" for quite some time, especially academics (AFD was formerly the academic party of Germany and most EU academics are in their position because there parents were elites or nazis themselves). Words are just words at the end of the day and what we are seeing now in academia and in politics in the recent years is a battle on who gets to "own" certain terms of virtue. We live in a time of virtue politics.

    Also I do believe decolonial scholar mignolo has also argued for multipolarity and hes very sussy and suspected to be reactionary.

  • My grandma is half-russian half German, but never had the chance to grow up in the Ussr. She was born in Poland in 1933. Its a very complex history, and just that you know my grandma is a commie too. Her half-sister did though. So I do think about it a lot not just because of my Marxists affinity but also because of the family history that still is very much uncertain.

    Also my mother (grandmas daughter) grew up right next to the GDR, they also watched a lot of GDR TV Illegally. When I moved to Belgium (we had to leave Germany due to poverty and neo-Nazi attacks on us, im half Italian). I ended up having teachers from the former soviet union even former Olympians. All of them were kind to me, in comparison to my elitist German teachers who only cared about those Germans who's grandparents/great-grandparents were actual nazis

    So I think about it the soviet union in a historical, a Marxist and a sort of family related sense, and hopefully imagine how our lives could have been better if my grandmother and mother had the same chances as her sister and cousins/nephews did.

  • I was just watching Weltspiegel this evening which was so conflating and very biased. They first went like yes trump is bad and all (for the case of greenland) and then they interviewed a "specialist" who was constantly claiming that russia is the biggest threat to greenland and not the actual fact that trump is the main cause in this situation. The rest of that edition consisted out of cuba bashing, interviewing US military trainees in Hawaii (and portraying them as heroic) and really bad coverage on iran. I swear to god it was the most US asslicking bullshit that i have ever seen, and I guess germany is goingto keep sucking trumps dick.
