Curls

  • It depends on your goals, but for muscle growth 20 reps is a little high. 8-10 is a good range and then you can progress up to 12 reps before increasing the weight again.

    Ex: week 1 30 lbs 8 reps

    Week 2 30 lbs 10 reps

    Week 3 30 lbs 12 reps

    Week 4 35 lbs 8 reps

    Etc

  • Anyone who stops to think for a second about the ramifications of provincial separation would realize it's a fool hardy idea. Particularly for landlocked provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, where all trade would have to pass through Canada/America and be at the mercy of those countries to do so.

Canada couldn't allow it's only major railroad line and road network connecting the country to be seperated like that as well. At best Canada would maintain ownership of the highways and raillines, but more likely it would violently fight over the transit rights and to keep the provinces in.

Also, it's obvious that America would simply annex the two new "nations" and turn them into something like Puerto Rico US Samoa, so American rule without any of the benefits like representation or citizenship.

This is just foreign propaganda trying to destroy Canadian unity and interfere with our politics/election.

    Privacy friendly baby monitor

Looking for the most privacy respecting baby monitor available. Doesn't have to be overly complicated, just the ability to watch a video feed from an app on my phone. It's a must have from the wife, so trying to find the best option and accepting some losses in privacy is likely necessary.

What is a gender neutral replacement for man, guys, buddy, etc?

So I've realized that in conversations I'll use traditional terms for men as general terms for all genders, both singularly and for groups. I always mean it well, but I've been thinking that it's not as inclusive to women/trans people.

    For example I would say:

"What's up guys?" "How's it going man?" "Good job, my dude!” etc.

Replacing these terms with person, people, etc sounds awkward. Y'all works but sounds very southern US (nowhere near where I am located) so it sounds out of place.

So what are some better options?

Edit: thanks for all the answers peoples, I appreciate the honest ones and some of the funny ones.

The simplest approach is to just drop the usage of guys, man, etc. Folks for groups and mate for singular appeal to me when I do want to add one in between friends.

    Splitwise alternative

I'm looking for a simple alternative to Splitwise to self host. Currently my partner and I use it to keep track of monthly expenses to ensure there is roughly even spending between us. Doesn't have to be complex, in fact the simpler the better as my partner prefers simple, ready to use tech. It would only need to be accessed locally as we update expenses once or twice a month, and would prefer FOSS to have control over our data.

I thought of having a Spreadsheet that is synced using syncthing between my computer and her phone. This seems simple on my end, but I worry that it would be more complicated for my partner as they primarily would use this on their iphone. Currently on splitwise you can add expenses with only a couple button presses.

    Thanks in advance.

    Language learning app?

I'm looking for an app to help learn the basics of language similar to Duolingo. Something to become conversational to get started.
