  • The only time I get Starbucks is when I am in a new city and busy, like for work. Since it is a chain I can know that I will get the exact same thing in the exact same quality essentially anywhere in the country.

To me it's a really nice safety net if im stressed or anxious and far from home and my local coffee shops.

    Custom Feeds

I used to use Boost for Reddit and one of my favorite features was the custom Feeds.

Is there any plans to bring those back? Or am I just missing it?

  • This is the only one that I haven't been able to drop from growing up in the early 2000s. I'm good about not saying it in public, but if it's just the boys playing games or something all bets are off haha

  • I'm curious on how you reconcile the "towns not much larger than 700 people" and the advanced automation you have in your world.

Drones, computers, or any of the 15 layers you need to support any "network" need significantly more people than groups of 700 to manufacture.

  • That's just how the game is. It's incredibly simplified. Every issue has a decision for you to make and that decision only impacts 2-4 things. Usually 1-2 positives, and 1-2 negatives.

It's a really fun little game but it shouldn't be used as a replacement for actual policy.

  • What's up with audacity? I use it like twice a year so I just download it whenever I need and uninstall it. I don't really do anything except some incredibly basic things (like record audio, cut segments out, maybe some noise reduction if I'm feeling fancy)

  • The resolution thing is actually almost solved IMO. I used my Quest 3 in AR mode almost every single day and the screens are perfectly fine for reading text or having a video on in the background.

Yeah there's still some screen door effect but it's really only noticeable when I look for it, it disappears in normal use.

And I genuinely can't think of a reason you would need 1000hz displays. Human eyes start to get steady motion at like 50-60 and 90-150 is when the normal eye starts to hit the limit.

  • you're a network engineer and the glasses show you on every port which device is connected

Unifi equipment already can sorta do this! The little dot pattern on the screen is an AR code and you can use the app to see this. It's pretty cool actually. I've never actually used it for real work though, I just look at the dashboard on my laptop and find the port that way.

It would be really really cool to be able to just touch the physical port and be able to change the settings in real space with AR glasses though.

  • Go outside and get a walk in.

I'm not going to say it's a perfect cure-all for everything, but a 30 minute walk outside most days is scientifically proven to help with depression, help keep you more level, help with stress, and is just really good for you which has all sorts of secondary effects.

Looking for a good RSS Reader

Hello all, I am looking to start getting back into RSS feeds but nothing Ive found so far matches all of my requirements so i was going to see if you guys had any advice.

    My requirements are:

    • Self hosted (preferably with an official docker container)
    • I should be able to view it in the web, as well as with an Android app but it doesn't have to be a first party app
    • It has to look nice and modern, preferably with a dark mode option

Anything you guys know of that would meet all three of those things?

Currently my plan is to run FreshRSS as my aggregator and FeedMe or Focus Reader on Android. I don't really have any plans for web viewers though
