  • My take on it is that: when big corporations are doing it for (direct or inderect) profit it's stealing. It was trained on the work of artists after all and that's the only reason they can make good images. If they can make a model that doesn't require using images from others it would solve that issue but at least under capitalism that is too expensive to happen now so it won't happen.

Personal use can be fine I guess and can even allow for more creativity, like if people are using image generation to make new images/art/assets based on their own work/photos. An indie game/movie/etc where the person uses AI to expand what they can do in size is a great use of AI I'd say, giving someone the ability to do something bigger/better than they could do by themselves is what a tool should be like and gen AI should be such a tool for artists too.

There are more cases but they might be harder to come to a conclusion on, specially as they exist in a capitalist setting.

  • You are forgeting about the big supporters of the regime likely knowing what is going to happen, and even helping decide what will be done, meaning when the "markets" are going up or down they are making bank with their insider info.

  • Since it is only decaying through Beta minus decay (a neutron decaying into a proton that stays in the nucleus, an electron that can be ejected and an antineutrino that can pass through the Earth without interacting with anything) it probably depends on how well it can capture the electrons, ie. it kinda depends on how efficient it is.

I'm also curious about the power curve. I guess the power falls with time, following the half life of the element (100 years for Ni63, meaning about 70% left after 50 years), but it would be nice if the article talked more about it, like if the diamond semiconductor can last that long. It should also be interesting how future batteries could use many elements with many decay routes that could keep the power output closer to constant for very long.

  • Anime: https://kaa.mx/ or https://hianime.to/tv

    No nyaa.si ?

It's for torrenting instead of watching things online, but for those who prefer torrents it's perfect as you can also find OPs and EDs, manga, LNs...

  • There could make a stand in the west, if/when the front collapses, which could make it last longer still but I guess if it gets to a collapse the more pro-war elements in Ukraine might just flee to the EU and start trouble there instead.

  • I'm not so sure you can call a regime based on epxloitation of the majority of the world a "society", that's at most just a well disguised machine of exploitation, or much less that we are experiencing a societal collapse, as the actual society is now getting more room to grow from the deepening contradictions of capitalism.

  • Good text but you forgot a very important fact, that is, the second group to have invaded Russia, with the specific goals of enslaving the population for their own benefit, is composed of preciselly the countries that have formed nato as a stronger entity to invade and finally bend Russia to their will.

Mentioning what happens in the 90s would also be a good idea in any longer texts.

  • Are they going to materially oppose this or are they just talking though?

In the case of Russia they did allow/set-up companies to go in between Russian and Chinese companies so that Chinese companies could trade with Russia and continue trading with the west, but in this case it seems that any trade of oil or gas at all by China with Venezuela will lead to a 25% tarrif by the US, so will they actually continue the trade with Venezuela or will they back down as they used to do?

Statements aren't going to feed Venezuelans after all.

  • What about the bourgeois families and the politicians supporting them? Even they will be worse off??

I doubt the money the poor aren't getting is simply stopping to exist.

  • So, does anyone know how this technology works? Does it use quantum entangled photons or is it something else?

  • At least part of it seems to be a "guard-model" identifying that the topic might be illegal or something like that and just stoping the main model from going further while saying "can't do that". Other Chinese models, from what I heard, might handle things like this better, although in DeepSeek's case they might have gone too far because they might have been under attack early on from bad faith people asking all sorts of "questions" about China and things like that, but I can't say for sure.

As the other person said, you can either try running the model yourself, or if you don't have a computer with at least 400GB RAM lying around you can look for other services hosting DeepSeek. I can't guarantee they won't have "guard-models"/censorship themselves but there should be some without it.

But another point to consider though is that DeepSeek was still trained on a lot of western data propaganda, so don't expect impartiallity from DS or any other model for that matter. We may still be a ways off of models that can actually understand their bias and correct it properly.

  • And another part of this is that the previous regime was using a lot of this soft power against the people of the new regime, meaning they will tear the tools that have been used against them, and other tools that they feel are the same regardless of if they are, and then they can focus on their own social media networks.

  • Or the yearly deaths due to starvation, poor healthcare or police (and other capitalist tools) killings, global warming, deforestation and other anti nature capitalist practices, and so on and so on.

  • wouldn’t it just make more sense to rebuild the facility to be more efficient for cheaper and more sensible machinery

Yes, but that takes time and we need to have a good and mature enough tecnology for it to make at least some "financial" sense. So, if the humanoid robots can do work that humans can do then it means that we could try make/have AIs make new robots and new enviroments that work well toghether without consideration for human form.

Basically, from the first factory robots half a century ago until a few years back there wasn't that much of an advance that could allow robots to work alone in anything but a few cases. Now though the technology that allows for humanoid robots is the technology that allows non humanoid robots to work a lot better in basically all cases, so we will finally begin seeing more and more robots and infrastructure being built to take advantage of the new advances, at the same time we'll also get humanoid robots for other tasks, like some of the ones that involve working closelly with people...

I was never convinced by the argument that “Humanoid robots are better suited to working in environments that were built for humans”, like, WE are the ones who make these environments

And they aren't built for free so they were built to work, and now that the technology is allowing some of that to change it will gradually change.

  • LLMs are often trained on up to some 80% code, depending on use although usually it's probably lower, as that has been shown to improve their logical/thinking skills.

Basically, if the task can be done with only words and there is a lot of data of it present day LLMs can probably get really good at it if properly trained for it, but for things like circuits, where a lot of the data is likelly to be graphical or there might just not be much of it, LLMs aren't yet as good at.

  • Another point that I don't hear about is that even if Ukraine decided by their own will to join the "destroy Russia" club then Russia would be very much in their right to do something to avoid that from happening. Although, what really happened is that Ukraine was couped and made to do that, so from that point of view I would say that Russia not going directly against the ones responsible was not the "best" they could have done to put a stop to the situation but it was the easiest thing they could do so they are doing it.

  • Or perhaps Russia is finally learning that they can't tie their future to the west and is taking the opportunity of the US regime approaching Russia to see if China gives them a better deal than they would get otherwise.

  • Russia should probably ask for investment or a very big "loan" with very good terms from EU/US, such that if they do anything against Russia they just get to keep all the money. Perhaps Russia could even demand some industry (like refineries or chips) to be sent from the EU before actually stoping anything, although as Europe is right now I doubt they can offer anything better than backstabing to Russia.
