  • It’s decent. A lot of the things that have been fixed or improved have been done over the last couple of seasons and so are part of the base game.

Blizzard really shot themselves in the foot by releasing the game the way they did. So many ppl played it at launch and have formed a (deserved) bad impression of the game and now it’s really hard to win those ppl back no matter how much they improve the game.

I made the decision to completely avoid the game at launch as I thought it would be a disaster. I only decided to give it a go when it came to gamepass and I’m glad that I waited as I think those early days would have seriously put me off the game.

    General season 6 thread

How’s your season going? What are you enjoying? What are you not enjoying?

I’m having fun! There’s a few things I’d like to discuss.

First is the spiritborn. Oh boy is it OP. I mean SERIOUSLY OP. I thought the lightning spear sorc last season was OP, but the spiritborn is magnitudes more powerful. It crushes everything.

I expected it to be powerful but not as powerful as it is. I realise that blizzard wants to sell VOH expansions so they’re gonna make the new class powerful but I don’t think even they realised just how crazy it was gonna get.

Obviously it needs some nerfing for next season but I hope they don’t nerf it into the ground so no one ever plays it again after this season. The items need some work too, most builds are all centred around the rod of kepeleke/midnight sun combo at the moment and it would be nice to see more variety.

The season theme is meh. The realm walkers are boring and the rewards are nothing special.

The undercity is good for target farming but t

  • I’m having a great time too. I was apprehensive before the release as I was worried all the changes might make the game too difficult for me but that hasn’t been the case at all… part of that may be the spiritborn being so strong though!

Weirdly I’ve found the opposite to you in that I think I’ve levelled up faster this season than usual but I think that’s just because I’ve gotten better and more used to the game, I only really started playing in season 4. I didn’t start playing the new season until Wednesday and I’ve only played evenings after work and I’ve made my way to torment 3 already.

Haven’t tried the citadel yet, thought I’d wait until I have a really decent build together first.

  • It sure is. Nerfs come in different sizes though and this one seems to be a butchering.

However, everyone is probably going to be playing spirit born anyway so… I don’t suppose it really matters.

  • Goodbye lightning spear sorcerer.

  • rawr

  • Thanks, I just learned from that link that the literal translation of ‘Moo Deng’ is ‘Bouncy Pork’.

  • I can see quite a few trees if I zoom in on the image, they’re just young saplings at the moment as it’s all new and just been landscaped.

  • Then you end up with a whole map where you can only go one or two places to be challenged. Huge areas that are completely pointless and offer no reward, instead just having to go and do the same area over and over again. How boring.

The feeling of getting stronger comes from the gear you find and working out ways that you can get the powers they have to synergise with each other.

I’d much rather have it this way. As an example, I played starfield a while ago and even though it has dozens and dozens of star systems you are stuck with just 3 or 4 that offer even the slightest challenge at the later levels.

Edit: That’s not to say that levelled areas don’t work in other games of course. I love to play Valheim and that has levelled biomes but it’s a completely different game. It’s a journey with a start and end (end still not done though). It’s meant to be beaten, finished. Diablo isn’t like that, it’s a perpetual game. Elden ring is another example but again is a game that’s meant to be beaten.

  • Why would it be a problem? It’d be laughably easy if the mobs stayed the same as they were when you start the game at lvl 1.

    General season 5 thread.

How’s it going? What build are you playing? Are you struggling or slaying?

I’m having a lot of fun. The infernal hordes are manic when they really get going, had me whooping out loud a few times! The ‘slaying hellborne invigorates you’ is my fave boon, attack speed goes crazy with that one. I’m gonna miss them when the season ends. They make it so easy to get gear, gold and master working mats this season. The only thing I’m struggling with this season is boss mats, I never have any exquisite blood, distilled fear etc. Soon as I have enough I go do a tormented boss to try and get a mythic unique.

I started as chain lightning sorcerer then switched to the lightning spear build. It just deletes everything. I killed Lilith for the first time ever this season and every single tormented boss. I got mythic uniques that actually work for my build for once too.

Now levelling a barrage rogue with the intent to switch to andariels build if I get an andariels visage.

  • Well, I’m playing it right now and having a blast. Sorry if that offends you.

  • Because it came to gamepass and the latest patch completely reworks loot and upgrading items and adds an endgame.

The general consensus is that Diablo 4 finally got good.

Anyway, my mind was made up for me as the valheim patch wasn’t available on xbox yesterday.

  • Damn, new Diablo 4 season starts today too. I dunno which to play first!

    Today is a good day.

Edit: I thought it would be ages until the ashlands was properly released. The smaller ‘Hildir’ patch was in testing forever.

  • Damn, all three of those opinions hurt me. Why you gotta be this way?

My takes; I didn’t enjoy Hyperion or Red Mars.

  • Seems it might actually be good. I haven’t watched this video but I did watch some of raxxanterax streaming yesterday and he seemed very pleased.

I should point out that I’ve never actually played this game. I played quite a lot of Diablo 3 and I thought I’d wait a while before trying Diablo 4 as I was sure it would have problems at launch and wasn’t willing to spend £70-100 on a game that had the potential to be a complete mess.

Well, seems like they may have actually sorted things out now and seeing as it has just come to gamepass I’ll be giving it a play when season 4 starts.

I am kind of left wondering what the point of Diablo 4 is though. ‘The pit’ is the new end-game content and it seems to be an almost direct copy of greater rifts from Diablo 3, even down to the obelisk asset and animation.

Like I said though, I haven’t played the game yet, so what do I know??!!!

  • I can also recommend AirVPN. I’ve been using it for several years now. I have it on my iMac and iPhone and make use of both the port forwarding and dns. They have their own client (Eddie) but you can use 3rd party clients too. I used the openVPN client for a while and am currently using wireguard.

  • I know it’s a flawed game but, I’m also having a lot of fun playing it. I’m currently level 141 on ng+12. I’m also looking forward to dlc… well, actually that depends on if it’s included in game pass, if it isn’t then I probably won’t bother with it.

  • I think it’s a replicator from Star Trek. Is that the one you meant?

The last few days I haven’t been able stop thinking about ‘Dooby Duck's Disco Bus’…

…and just the fact that it existed.

It was literally just puppets dancing to pop music.

I don’t know how to stop dwelling on this.

    Magic builds

Does anyone here use a purely magic build? I’m experimenting with it at the moment but would like to hear what others are doing.

What foods do you eat? I’m currently using 2X Eitr and one stamina but it leaves me with very little health.

Do you wear the full mage gear or mix and match with some heavier armour? I’m using the full mage set at the moment.

I do fine against regular seekers but fights with soldiers take longer than if I just bashed it with a melee weapon. I took down a gjall but it was pretty sketchy and took a while too. Hits from its fireballs popped my protection bubble almost immediately so I spent a lot of time dodging and recasting the bubble.

I don’t have the frost staff yet so I’m guessing that will make things a bit easier by slowing enemies.

Search within communities and community browsing

How do I search posts within a community, is that possible?

Also, is it possible to just browse through communities? I know I can search for communities but I’d like to just be shown a load of them and browse through them to see if anything catches my fancy.

    Valheim plans

It’s nice to see valheim on Lemmy but it’s kinda quiet here at the moment so I thought I’d ask what you’re next planning to do in valheim?

I’m currently just kind of idling whilst waiting for the latest update to leave beta. I don’t really want to explore any more of my map until it’s released. In the meantime I think I’m going to try and defeat yagluth (no spoilers please!) so I’ve been preparing for that, raising an earth wall around the area, brewing meads, making a safe area to rest if I need it etc.
