Yeah a lurk but I don't post unless maybe it's for work or something like that. I do feel like the quality has dropped pretty sharply. The home feed is absolute trash. Constant feed of random shit like r/decks, the ads were pretty bad before I discovered RedReader but overall it doesn't capture my attention the way it used to. Even the comments feel dumber but that could be my imagination.

@IMALlama I think my account is borked. I can see the comments in my inbox but on my post I can only see my comment. It says (6) comments but I only see mine. A number of communities don't seem to show up properly, I thought it was just a Lemmy issue but maybe it's a me issue. I also didn't think this community was even active because the newest posts are a couple months old for me but I've gotten good feedback so thanks for all of the advice and the crash course.

Are you fighting the urge to off yourself or the urge to off your family? In either case I hope you're finding adequate support/therapy, if not ask for help here. Hopefully your state or country has resources available.

No interaction? I hope you're talking to your baby, staring into their eyes, playing with their hands... you don't just plop a baby down and wait for it to grow. You are teaching the baby right now. They are taking in way more than you realize. When I didn't know what to say I would just sing the alphabet song or walk around the room pointing out colors or names of different objects. I swear by teaching babies sign language for the basics. Mine was signing milk at just a few months old, cuts down on crying when they can communicate exactly what they want. And everyone says it but it's true, these early baby days fly by and you should try to appreciate every stage, good or bad.

It's kind of an extreme stance, are people going to stop listening to the Beatles, Pink Floyd... all these great bands that had shitty people? Can you discard Hitchcock films because he was a piece of shit? So many pieces of art were made by bad people.
