  • I wish I new how to easily install an AUR package manager when I first started.

Step 1: go to the AUR and choose a package manager. I recommend paru, but there are plenty of others.

Step 2: install git using pacman

     undefined

    sudo pacman -S git

Step 3: copy the git clone URL for paru and pull it

     undefined

    git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/paru.git

Step 4: CD into the new directory

     undefined

    cd paru

    Step 5: install paru

     undefined

    makepkg -si

Now when you find a package from the AUR you want, you can easily install it.

     undefined

    paru -S [package]

Also, when you update your system, you only need to run paru -Syu. You don't need to run both pacman -Syu and paru -Syu.

  • There is Lawnchair, which is a stock-experience while still being extremely customizable, and Kvaesitso, which is search based and might be worth checking out if you want to try something different. Can you share which features you are interested in, so we can give more relevant recommendations ?

I drop the soap too often to survive prison.

Thought this after dropping my body wash 3 times in the same shower session.

  • My Rotring 600 mechanical pencil, my Canon 2000 film camera, and my TI-36x Pro calculator.

    • When it come to writing, I have never used a smoother implement, nor one that is constructed of such robust materials. For a long time I used a "nicer" mechanical pencil from Tūl, but does not compare to the Rotring.
    • My Canon film camera is old and not a particularly fancy model, but it takes excellent photos and perfectly exemplifies the authentic emotion of film photos. I use it when I go on adventures with my friends, and the photos are always fun and genuine.
    • I have tried a dozen different calculator apps, and none of them are as efficient to use as a physical calculator. It does what I need to without the feature cramming that calculator apps suffer from.
  • I thought sex was determined at time of fertilization by the chromosomes. If a sperm carrying a Y chromosome meets an egg carrying an X chromosome, won't the resulting fetus always be male? Is that not the case?

    Early Morning At Mt. Scott

I woke up too early for this. I thought the sunrise was at 6:30, but it was actually at 7:30.

    Clock Tower

This photo was taken using a $10 zoom lens I picked up from the flea market. It was almost certainly taken off of an old film camera.

    Underground Garden in Fresno, CA

The underground garden in Fresno is neat. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if you have an hour to kill, it's not bad at all.

    King's Canyon National Park

It was really crazy driving from the 100° barren desert into this comfortable 74° cedar forest with an ice cold stream flowing through it. King's Canyon National Park is worth the visit if you happen to be in the area.

What are the rules on posting multiple pictures? I'm back from a road trip with multiple pictures, but I don't want to spam the community if that's not ok.

Saying you're down to do something means the same thing as saying you're up for it.

"Do you want to do this thing with me?"

    "I'm down."

    "I'm up for it."

I tried my hand at astrophotography, and I think I did alright. The title is where I was when I took it.
