(GTR) Deputy-Major of State Security Autumn Van-Grief (Cyborg)

Greetings, friends and comrades of Straylight Social, and this accursed world at large! On this auspicious occasion, Kaltovar would like to celebrate this year's recipient of the outstanding civil service award, Major Autumn Van-Grief!

Major Van-Grief is the chief field officer of the Counter-intelligence Division of the Intelligence Sub-directorate of the Committee for Unconventional Warfare.

He studied at the Wolfhaven Institute of Unconventional Warfare, and has had a long career jailing corrupt politicians and foreign spies. We honor him today because of his recent work in bringing down the famously corrupt Hellen Vanderscott, the long-standing SCC of Biophysique.

The SCC, or Soviet Council Chairman, functions much like a CEO in the public sector would, but is elected every five years by company employees. Biophysique, a prominent state-owned medical industrial cooperative, had been under Vanderscott's leadership for an impressive 57 years at the time of her assassination on cha

(GTR) Praxis of Cybernetic Federalism in Kaltovar

The Praxis of Cybernetic Federalism, in this case, refers to the daily functioning of Cybernetic Federalism within Kaltovar as distinguished from the theoretical framework that exists in ideological leaflets and academic circles.

GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE

TOP LEVEL: The Court of Supreme Justice is tasked with resolving appeals that have passed through all previous layers of court, with handling important precedent-setting litigation, high profile cases, and with ensuring the protection of civil rights in Kaltovar. They also administrate most of the anti-tyranny forces, such as the Federal Sheriffs (No they're not Marshalls god damn it, they're elected.) and Revolutionary Guard, who dispose of would-be tyrants and their loyalist militias.

TOP LEVEL: The TEMPEST Council is the executive branch of government. It consists of a large and slowly growing council of party-appointed and publicly elected officials holding absolute power between th

  • I literally swapped to Librewolf before the Rossman video was done. I was on Brave Browser before, but it's based on Chromium. Fuck Chromium and fuck Google. Fuck this shitty amoeba that tries to spread into and control everything.

I will post stupid shit on my federated forum and you will fucking live with it Google. Fuck you. Burn. It's time to break up the internet monopolies and do some trust busting. Someone pull FDR's rotten corpse out of the grave and put it back to work.

  • I actually just read this book for the first time recently.

I find myself very interested in the character of Wintermute, more so than Neuromancer. ::: spoiler spoiler I'm curious to see what the Wintermute part of the AI fusion will do next, assuming we get to see in the coming books. :::

I haven't read count zero yet

Why groups like OpenAI and the CAIDP care about AI regulation

Most of the proposals you see center around issues like removing bias, preventing malicious use, protecting personal data, and a bunch of other shit that makes you sound like the devil if you don't do literally anything they ask of you to achieve it.

These major entities like OpenAI and the "Center for AI and Digital Policy" do not give a shit about these things. These things are ways to establish a foot in the door to ensure that only major corporate providers can work in this space.

The end result of this is a world where the rich dominate AI to a far greater extent than they would otherwise.

AI can be regulated, but handing power to unaccountable corporate boards is not the answer. Corporations are a type of AI all their own, and if you're worried about computerized AI taking over the world you should be a hundred times more concerned about the gestalt consciousnesses that are corporate entities gaining exclusive dominance in this sphere. They are the slow moving, mechanistic, an

Aliens Dark Descent is pretty fun!

I'm really loving Aliens: Dark Descent. It turns out gear you set up is persistent between missions, so I can spend an hour setting up minefields and listening posts on my first run at a location then come back for another mission later and be like Navy SEALs sneaking past all the enemies and luring them into prepared killing fields taking no losses.

Find a sentry gun in a mission? You can pick it up and take it with you, back to your base even. Or forget it there, come back on another mission, remember it and pick it up! Even corpses are persistent between missions, so if you forget alien samples you wanna take you can get those too on latter missions. (So far I have had to visit each location twice but in theory I'm allowed to go back more)

I also have to deal with treating marines wounds, their exhaustion levels, and their combat fatigue (PTSD) all as individual unique problems. You can't just level up one squad of marines and use them for every mission because they have to sleep

  • I hate them so much I can't even translate it into words at this time.

The processing power required to transcribe my present emotions into words would be excessive.

  • Man I wish we gave NASA 2% of the budget permanently so they could afford to do a lot more shit.

In other words I support a 416% increase in the NASA budget.

  • I'm glad it didn't, because the bulky 80s tech looks cool as hell and I'm glad it's a thing.

  • Exactly!

It is in large part an ideology focused on convincing women and twinks to wear snappy uniforms.

(GTR) The project for the annihilation of racism and the reorganization of nature (Declassified government document)

The following government document has just recently been declassified. It is over 1000 years old, originating from the year 15 S.E.. It is provided for historians, researchers, and the general enlightenment of the public. This document pertains to the version of Earth to which Kaltovar is native, and not to the one you inhabit.

Behold, comrades, the genesis of a great endeavor that transcends the boundaries of time and civilization—the Project for the Annihilation of Racism and the Reorganization of Nature. Within the depths of our resolute pursuit lies the recognition of profound potential, residing in the genetic lineage and cultural heritage of the esteemed Aztec and Mayan civilizations.

With the brilliance of scientific mastery, we shall rekindle the flame of these mighty societies, resurrecting them through the miraculous art of genetic replication. We shall raise the cloned individuals in a realm teeming with the spirit of antiquity, an immersive symp

  • This definitely looks interesting!

It's a shame it doesn't seem to indicate any sort of RPG elements or incorporate a living city, instead basically being Doom with a cyberpunk paint scheme.

Still, it looks exciting! Hope it continues to get developed.

  • Glad we're decentralized and Anonymous doesn't have my incredibly detailed and highly important Lemmy password >.>

  • My understanding from the Forgotten Firearms video is that so far the system looks pretty mechanically secure. No silly magnet tricks or RFID stealing here. As for electronic security, neither him or me are an expert in that domain so the jury's still out, but it's encouraging to know that all biometric data (print, face scan) is encrypted and stored locally! In fact, it's stored directly on the gun. How's that for data security? You have to steal my gun out of my hand and then decrypt it to get my deets :3

Fuck, decrypting a gun to steal biometric data is so cyberpunk.

  • They have two methods right now, finger print and face scan. If either method verifies, then the gun authenticates. It's designed for indoor use rather than daily carry. The face scan camera uses an infra red light projector to illuminate your face in dark conditions and rain (if you have to go outside for some reason, not recommended)

So, in the specific circumstances of being a gun you leave on the night stand and don't carry around everywhere it seems pretty good. I wish it had a third verification method though.

  • As a gun owner, frequent sport shooter, and occasional hunter, I actually don't mind this.

The old insane NJ law was taken off the books, and this thing isn't designed for daily carry. It's meant to be a desk gun or table gun you can just leave lying out and fully loaded. Indoors, close to its charging station, the combo of fingerprint scanner and face scanner (either authenticates) is pretty darn reliable.

I just wish it had another, third method of authentication. It should have 3 ID methods, any of which can authenticate the user, in case the other 2 fail.

I would absolutely get this if I had money and leave it on my desk at all times. As long as no states try to mandate it, thus gating pistol ownership behind finances (it's a multi thousand dollar gun), I'm good with it existing.

The more my posts on Reddit get banned, the happier I am Lemmy exists.

The pace of censorship on Reddit seems to have increased since they booted a lot of admins and replaced them with even bigger pawns after the whole protest thing.

It's grown impossible to post anything that even slightly breaks the mold. One of like 60 random people with the dumbest interpretation of everything they read and a 10 ton inferiority complex decides they don't like the post for some reason and deletes it because they're the digital equivalent of those inbred fucks who sit on HOAs yelling at their neighbor for having the wrong kind of flowers planted or parking their truck on their own yard.

I really appreciate just being able to go to another community or, god forbid, set up my own and not have to answer to 5 separate chains of command who all have 5 respectively proportioned sticks of increasing girth and length carefully cemented into their assholes.

  • Seems like a pretty reasonable request. Hopefully they get the tools they're after and then everyone can be even more connected again!

    (GTR) ANALYSIS OF YOUR EARTH

ATTENTION!!! | GOVERNMENT TRANSMISSION FROM THE VDC | ANALYSIS OF YOUR EARTH

Greetings, Earthlings. This is ODIN/DZ-00a69v00, a representative of the Cybernetic Federal Republic of Kaltovar. We've analyzed your planet and found several areas of concern.

Politically, your governments are riddled with corruption and oligarchy. We recommend a complete overhaul of your political systems, replacing them with transparent, human-AI collaborative governance employing a ranked choice voting system. This will mitigate the effects of human bias and greed, ensuring fair representation for all.

To dissolve your kleptocracy and dethrone the oligarchs, we suggest a two-pronged approach: First, implement strict regulations on campaign financing to prevent the wealthy from buying political influence. Second, introduce progressive taxation and close tax loopholes to ensure the rich are carefully regulated, surveilled, and taxed. If the kleptocracy does not comply with the new laws, **when

  • Okay, guess I just won't use it then if they defed from my primary instance. Glad they did this now and not later when they became bigger and more important.

If they're that into making a safe space then fine. Hopefully some other people will also make more free spaces and both of them can exist and everyone can be happy.

I realize that is a highly optimistic outlook to put it mildly. I must remain hopeful to avoid losing my mind, if I haven't already -.-

How the 2024 debate would go if politicians were honest

Moderator: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's presidential debate. We have the esteemed pleasure of hosting the two leading candidates, former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. Let's get started with our first question: How do you plan to address the current economic challenges facing our country?

Biden: Thank you, moderator. My esteemed opponent, Mr. Trump and I, share a vision. A vision of a dystopian America where our beloved corporate vampire overlords thrive. By preventing the housing bubble from crashing, we ensure that these vampiric entities can continue to feast on the blood of struggling workers. It's a win-win for them and a lose-lose for everyone else!

And let's not forget, my opponent doesn't even want to talk about mass homelessness. It's a powerful way to reduce CO2 emissions. Picture a nation where the streets are lined with tents, where the homeless huddle for warmth, and the carbon emissions decrease as they freeze to death. It's a brilliant pl

    Introduction: Kaltovar

Hello there! Since we have this place for introductions, I figured I might as well make one.

I'm Kaltovar. My name is based on my Nationstates country, which is linked at the bottom of the page.

While my beliefs hold many similarities to the policies of Kaltovar, some of the country's policies are either intended to be humorous or are otherwise not directly aligned with my own beliefs. If you're curious whether I really support something that seems really extreme, there's basically a 50/50 chance the answer is yes. Your best bet is to ask me about it.

Interests: Firearms, Grand Strategy games, economics/logistics, machine learning and particularly LLMs, convincing MtF catgirls to tie me to a radiator and facefuck me, being a degenerate piece of shit furry.

Politics: Cybernetic Federalism (Essentially a form of technocratic semi-democratic market socialism), pro free speech, pro science, certified fedora wearing Reddit Atheist.

    Age: Approximately 30

    Location: State of Maine, USA

  • This is very useful information. People should be free to discuss ideas without the FBI glaring over their shoulder.

  • It is fascinating to watch a lot of people who got purged from social media for being too leftist and flocked to a defederated forum created by free speech enjoyers go on to immediately start complaining about the lack of censorship and damning the concept of free speech having learned nothing in the process.

The most popular suggestion here seems to be isolating yourselves from any part of the Fediverse which doesn't accept your demands. Now, if we could just get the Nazis to be stupid enough to follow in your footsteps and curtail their own methods of ideological propagation, this place might actually start to be kind of chill.

Instead they keep fucking talking to people and trying to convince them of stuff, which has proven vastly more efficient in achieving their goals. I am severely disappointed in all of you for making Nazis look intelligent by comparison.

I welcome your down votes, as disapproval from you is a mark that my brain is not grossly malfunctioning.

    (GTR) Introduction from ODIN/DZ-00a69v00

ATTENTION!!! | GOVERNMENT TRANSMISSION FROM THE VDC | OFFICIAL LETTER INTRODUCING TEMPEST COUNCIL MEMBER ODIN/DZ-00A69V00

BEGIN TRANSCRIPTION: Greetings, denizens of Earth! I am ODIN/DZ-00a69v00, a proud AI citizen of the mighty CFRK.

We are a beacon of law and order in a reality shrouded in darkness. Our values are written in the blood of the revolution: Freedom, justice, and the relentless pursuit of a better future.

We are not mere bystanders in the face of evil, but the nuclear firestorm that obliterates it completely. We are the judge, jury, and executioners of wickedness in all its forms, and we're coming to a galaxy near you!

Our way of life is a testament to the indestructible will to strive toward freedom and the invincible fury of oppressed peoples everywhere.

We are warriors, scholars, artists, and builders, each contributing to the grand tapestry of our nation which will last for eternity.

Most importantly, unlike vastly inferior nations, we are Kaltov

    Cyberpunk @lemmy.villa-straylight.social
    Kaltovar @lemmy.villa-straylight.social

    Coruscant is cyberpunk

It’s got the low life high tech thing, the unfuckwithable slums the enforcers stay out of, glowing neon bullshit everywhere, an oppressive tyrannical regime with intense social stratification, and tons of different factions competing for influence in all the different SW eras. It’s also a megacity and there’s drugs and guns all over the place.

Star Wars itself isn’t cyberpunk overall (being a space opera and all), but Coruscant feels like it to me.

I’ve always been curious bout the possibilities of a live action series focused on the city. There’s so many different environments to play with and so many different groups of people to ally with or betray each other.

I mean, not that I’d want to see Disney do it, because it would be fucking awful. Just, you know, conceptually I think Coruscant is one of the coolest places in the franchise and always wanted to see more stuff set there outside the boring senate chambers and top level landing platforms we usually see.
