Cool cool cool. So since it looks like a Nazi salute and was maybe accidental, he will surely apologize for the appearance and make sure no one misunderstands and thinks he is green lighting Naziism. That would be a good way to know. Should not take more than 24 hours. Even a tweet would help. Or a Xit or whatever we should call it now.
You wouldn't want to wear a dive watch if you never dive, so why put that feature set on everything? Probably similar thoughts for a lot of these models.
That said, you are correct that they should streamline a little. It's a ton of nonsense and very frustrating to hide features that are clearly being calculated (HRV) but hidden because you didn't buy the right model.
One glaring omission for me is the lack of database options in the app store. They have a TINY bit of hard drive dedicated for a third party app. I used to own a Samsung and wrote an app for my gym workouts. It was great, but I like Garmin watches better. But even if I use the available key value pair database on Garmin, it only gives me space for maybe 100 sets before I am out of memory. Useless if you want to track any kind of history for multiple workouts. Same for the disc golf app I made for Samsung. I could technically save enough to play, but my old app has room to let me know all my previous scores per hole at each place I was, etc.
This isn't a huge amount of space needed for these things. A few MB. But it's walled away for some random reason. Really limits developers from making good stuff.
Different energy. Bus driver has to deal with many potentially grumpy people in many potentially unsafe areas. Not an easy job.
A doctor that is specifically specializing in a field where he has to get to know and take care of children as they die in a potentially painful way, has a much different challenge. Less for safety or aggressive people (though maybe parents could be I guess) but more in being the one to watch as the hope fades for each individual child in their last days.
I wouldn't love the bus driving job. I don't think I could do the pediatric oncology one for more than like, one patient ever. I'd be depressed forever.
Vaccines are not 100% effective. You need those kids to be vaccinated also or your vaccinated child would still run a 3% risk if exposed. I have terrible luck and that's not a risk I am willing to take.
My daughter's school will allow for medically necessary unvaccinated children (eg, immunocompromised so cannot take a live vaccine), but only until they hit the herd immunity limit. After that they turn away parents for the unvaccinated child because they have to protect the other children. Those parents will probably be frustrated at first but, recognizing the need for herd immunity from the school for their child, will be better off. They will just have to find a other school that has an opening. This shouldn't be hard if the only refusal for vaccines was for medical purposes, but it's getting harder these days.
Public schools should do this. I think some do, but maybe not. And certainly not with our current admin if they can force whatever they want. My point though is that it's not only the "stupid antivaxxer's kids" who will die. It's 3% of all the others. And that's just for measles. Polio is coming back too. Who knows what else.
Haha thanks. I don't know why that particular word does not work right in my brain.
Totally agree. Was talking to my brother who worked for the US Corps of Engineers. He said they have a decades long outlook for their projects. So if they want to remove a dam or something, studies are done to make sure that is the smartest move not just for the next few years, but the next several decades.
So refreshing vs the typical "new CEO wants to fire x% of the workforce to generate 1% more profit this year (ignore the fact that customers will leave when it's that much shittier here... That's next year's (and next Ceo's) problem)".
That's a good point. I have not been very politically active besides encouraging friends and family to vote. But I think a campaign for signatures for Star or Ranked Choice voting would be the first step, at least here in Florida since enough signatures should put it on the ballot. But Desantis is pretty good at squashing this stuff since it requires 60% approval. Not sure the method for other states.
Never going to happen until most of all states have ranked choice or star voting. First past the post is basically designed for only 2 parties.
I think it's about where you want to put your time in for a career. Not sure how professors are doing right now, but with the department of education budget being slashed, many are seeing the writing on the wall for the future of education here in America.
Highlighting that they are a country that still values inclusive education, and emphasizing their tenure stuff, shows that their country wants and needs you, and intends to value you long term, vs America trying to show the opposite.
I think the point here is that, rather than endorse a genocide, you endorsed 2 genocides, and everything else that this administration does. I get that even one genocide is too much, but for that one you could be calling your representative and writing letters and doing whatever else you can to people who might care about those actions.
The Mexican president asked for this
The Mexican president asked for the US to be called Mexico Americana or something like that. I haven't seen if google complied yet, but if they don't, would you support them not?
I think Goliath was a "giant" in the same sense that an NBA player is a giant. Not like a mythical species in the Bible, just a genetic anomaly family that was crazy big and strong. Meanwhile, the average height was back then was much shorter than it is now.
So think of a fairly average but smallish guy beating up Shaq and I think that's what we are supposed to envision.
Yeah that's true. Right now our two big leaders amount to the school bully and maybe an average student. It is a lot to ask the average student to stand up the school bully, even if it's a lot of other students asking him.
We need real leaders. We need to volunteer ourselves so that the best of us can help lead the country. We keep asking for better but none of us want to step up.
Agree that "at least we aren't them" doesn't work. It needs to be more "Republican Matt Gaetz responds to allegations of PEDOPHILIA" and "Home insurance continues to rise under the gross MISMANAGEMENT of Ron Desantis - Floridians fleeing state" and maybe "Many are questioning if Republicans even know HOW to govern, as reliance on money from Democrat run states increases".
You know, flashy clickbait headlines for the lazy (average) American voter. Republicans have shown even a stupid lie (they are eating the dogs!) told enough times convinces people.
Doing good definitely matters. Getting the message out that you did so apparently matters more.
What we are seeing matters most though, is showing the other side did BAD.
Her campaign was... Fine. It could have used more things like podcasts and such, but I don't know that could have gotten her what she needed. Her issues were more that the media was stacked against her, and we had insane voter suppression this time around. If she had maybe 6 months instead of 3 to get her name out there, maybe her traditional methods could have worked. She was packing out the venues she was visiting, so there was excitement for her.
She just couldn't compete with the entire media and voter suppression.
My sister is a nurse. Hospitals are constantly trying to put more and more workload per nurse than is feasible/safe. That sounds like it's to your point, but it isn't really. My sister was making like $25 per hour before covid. Her job was to take care of NICU babies. For $25 per hour, with a degree and a fair amount of student loan debt. And they keep adding responsibilities and assume they will work overtime "for the babies".
Why would anyone want to go to school to get into an underpaid field where literal babies' lives are constantly in your hands, and the hospital is trying their hardest to decrease their nursing payout by decreasing nursing staff?
We need regulation. Nurses are quitting the field because they cannot handle the stress and the pay certainly isn't worth it.
Wait your hot take is "yes I agree, cut my government pension fund so that my EMPLOYER doesn't have to pay more taxes"??
This isn't you getting more in your paycheck now. This is your employer not having to pay as much in taxes. They will almost definitely not give you that money.
Sure I mean, the stock market might go up a bit for a little while with this extra cash flow, but eventually those people who would rely on the government pension fund will need to draw money from SOMETHING. Then those market gains will crash.
In what way is this beneficial beyond "stock market will go up a couple more years"? Which, by the way, unless you already have close to enough to retire now, just makes it MORE expensive for you to buy.
Yes they are original tires. I check against bar in the tread periodically and wear is tracking about normal. When I was a kid someone watched me corner like a madman in my honda civic and said to me "wow you must really like buying tires." It really stuck with me. I had been buying tires frequently for that small car. Now I corner like a grandma and tires last forever.

Can someonr explain thr math of how someone is supposed to be able to be even close to net zero carbon footprint?
I just got a CO2 meter and checked the levels in my house and went down a rabbit hole trying to address the issue. Apparently it would take 249 areca palms to offset the carbon RESPIRATION of one adult.
So okay 249 trees just for me to breathe, not to mention the rest of the bad things we all do.
So how can this math ever balance? 249 trees just to break even seems like an impossible number. Then all the flights I have been on, miles driven, etc.
I feel like that's... Way too many trees. Is it hopeless or am I missing something?
