Jap, this is the case i was referring to, thanks for adding a source

Isnt that obvious? Get rid of (massive) inequality. Like sure, if you work more or harder than someone else (regarding to your possibilities) or had to put in years of unpaid training/studying to get to that point you should maybe get a little more, and if you choose more free time even when you could do more you should maybe earn a little less, but people owning more than a whole town could earn in their lifetime? People hardly working at all and just profiting of other people working because they inherited a company or stocks from their grandfather being richer then a hard working normal person? That's just ridiculous! Its unfair, it fosters fascism, monopolies and poverty for the society. We have the Democratic state literally to make rules which foster a society which is best for the people. We should start using its power and simply make rules to prevent this.
There are enough resources for everyone in the world to live a life in honor and welfare, the problem is just how we distribute those recources
While the US is certanly going the Propaganda and facism Route, I dont think free speevh is too blame. In a system where everyone is rather equal, and each voice gets heard an equal amount, free speech leads to better outcomes, as most people are good willing if not mislead, and less people trying to mislead, than trying to foster truth.
The problem is, that you have one man who dictates twitter, amazon, google, etc. Pp.and can decide what gets hear, what information rises to the top etc because they inherited a lot of money from their colonialist fathers or just were lucky.
Such few people with so few interest who have free speech and control which arguments are heard and which not for everyone else are the problem.
Its not free speech which isn't working, its the huge inequality which dooms all chancen on fair discourse.
Is everyone stupid and doesnt read the meme or am I stupid and "ignoring your squirrel trades" and "copying expressions of beavers" are somehow related to mental health in English?
Oldie but goldie
You also supress squirrel thoughts?
I was talking more in general about turning to the American playbook, deporting Gaza protesters who are often are from precarious countries not strictly theese concrete 4. But deporting a trans person to proto-facist america is also not that nice. We also just deported a left protester to right extremist/ proto-facist Hungary and although a court literally ruled she can not be deported because she will face inhumane prison conditions and psychological torture, the Ausländerbehörde pulled through with it before the court could reached this decision.
Kontext?
Most smart home devices are actually not that smart. They are simply a switch with wifi, which logs in to your local wifi and shouts "HERE I AM, I HAVE TWO MODES, YOU CANSWITCH BETWEEN THOSE" into the ether.
Reasons to have a hub are:
- Not having to open the website of every single device or send a command from the command line if you want to use it, but rather have one place which registerss all devices and bundles them up to serve you in a nice web interface or app.
- Have more advanced/intercinnected functions (not only: send "up" to the blinds device but send "up" to the blinds device, if the time device says its later then 8:00 and the daylight sensor device senses dalight.
- Some hubs have security features, like claiming the device and establishing a password, so not everyone in you WiFi can do everything.
- Good ones act like a protective layer from you to the outside internet (esps and most smart home devices are simple devices, which are rather unsecure and where you don't know which code is running (your Chinese security camera might not only send pictures to you but also to China, and you would not knowbif its connected to the internet directly). So you can only allow connections to the hub, and if you have an open source hub like HomeAssistant, you could be rather certain stuff like this will not happen as easily.
- Do all the heavy lifting with more CPU power (user and password login, updates, scripts, voice recognition if you want stuff like this, keeping date and time recently updated, merge (in the case of HomeAssitant) different protocols (like iqtt, phillipsHUE, ZigBee, etc. Pp.) Into one coherent system.
Some other things also, and that being said: it is literally the device controlling your entire house and privacy, so get one you trust, preferable an open source one where you don't have to accept agbs to give up all rights to Samsung or so.
Well kinda yes and kinda no. The US constitution speaks of "the people" which is not defined legally, while some interpret this as "all people in the world", some interpret it as "all people with significant connection to the US" and some "all people of the political community, e.g. citizens"
While certainly better then Germany's version with "all Germans have the right..." Which is clearly more restrictive, its is not as clear cut in the US either - thus maga supporters label immigrants or dissidents as "aliens" which are in their interpretation not part of "the people"
https://harvardlawreview.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/vol126_the_people_in_the_constitution.pdf
While I am certainly in favor of the first definition of "the people" you clearly don't interpret it that way in the fourth amendment (see US military in basically every war):
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
Also
" When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.
"
It does, but with a similar Problem as the US one: it garuantees freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, but only to CITIZENS. Cause what does a politician care about people who can't vote for him anyway -.-

Weird IPS/ITS suricata behavior
Hello I have some strange behavior with my suricata on opnsense and was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same:
I wanted to keep a IPS signature active, dropping the packages, but not get an alert every time, since the source is beyond the scope of my control (neighbour) and the alerts spamming my log.
Since this isn't implemented in the GUI yet, I manually added
undefined
include: threshold.config
To /usr/local/etc/suricata/custom.yaml
And added
undefined
suppress gen-id 1, sig-id 1234567
To /usr/local/etc/suricata/threshold.config
However after this suricata wouldn't start anymore, giving the error it couldn't load threshold.config, cause it needs to have YAML 1.1 and --- as first lines.
Not only does this differ from the documentation, it also differs form the example file.
With this added anyway suricata will start, but have errors in the logs, it couldn't parse YAML 1.1 couldn't parse --- And couldn't parse suppress gen-id 1, sig-id 1234567
So its still not working
Exactly. IMHO they should not be deported at all, but brought before a judge and, if breaking of law is confirmed, put into jail like any other person, deporting someone to a place where they get starved, shot or lynched should not be permitted in a civilized nation, but deported without a trial? This is just plainy not a fair democracy in any kind of sense, not even a rightwing one. This is Willkür

Which privacy focused Android Browser 2025? Fennec outdated?
Hey people.
i recently heard rumors that Fennec is not updated properly anymore/not secure.
I don't really know what's going on (since the last update on f-droid is from 9.4.25) but am now unsure if its still the right choice.
What I like about fennec:
- -tuned version of firefox
- -not based on chrome
- -supports ad ons
- -possible to play YouTube while phone locked.
Just wanted to hear if someone can confirm the rumors of not being as privacy friendly / safe anymore and if so suggest privacy friendly alternatives, preferable not loosing the things I like.

Disable VPN while browsing casual or leave running?
Hey guys n gurls, I was wondering if it is smart to disable my VPN connection for casual browsing.
Reasons: when having VPN constantly running it may be possible to track me via browser fingerprinting.
Szenario: the connection coming from the VPN which hypothetically downloaded a torrent, tries to watch capitalist propaganda while living in China, etc.pp has this screen ratio, this locale, this addons etc. And (more important) the YouTube login cookie we know belongs to this physical person/telephone number etc.
So I am wondering if I should only use the VPN when "needing" it (read articles not available in country, Netflix, read information government doesn't like, things like that.) Or if I'm missing something here and I could obscure my causal day to day browsing as well without decreasing the security of the VPN.
For reference, the VPN doesn't log anything (for more than a day) to my knowledge
EDIT: From what I understand from the comments: switching the VPN has little to n

Exodus showing different permissions than system settings.

Edit: got told by the kind folks in the community that this is expected and the sentence "can access position while in background" actually just means: will ask you for the permission to access the position from the background but only does so, if you allow it" - that's what I figured, but now im sure. Thanks for the clarification everyone!
Hey guys n gurls,
I recently learned about exodus, and installed it to check my apps. While exodus shows some apps (like bike computer for reference) are allowed to track my position (quite logically).
The strange thing: in system settings it says seeing position is not allowed.
Does this mean that the app wants those permissions but I don't granted them? Or are my system settings bricked? Is this because of lineage? Is this expected?
Would greatly appreciate someone who understands this a little bit more to e

rule
