  • Yes, I love what Ploopy is doing and what they stand for. The open source nature of their designs really is the draw. I don't have any 3D printer, though there are local services here that can do it, and last I soldered is like 2 decades ago lol. But they do sell completely assembled for a fee, so that's nice. I'm really interested in the Adept. I mean I even started with the old school Orbit, and the Kensington blade have always been in the back of my mind.

I'm just wondering how to easily scroll with the Adept in games. While browsing I can imagine it, but not while gaming. There are some games that use scroll wheel as an option wheel, whether for items, skills, adjusting size, etc. The Kensingtons are fine, theoretically in my mind, they have a scroll ring.

What's next after Elecom Deft Pro and Huge?

I've been using the Elecom Deft Pro and Huge for a few years now. Huge I haven't used anymore for months. I guess I'll start there.

Cons of the Huge is, well, it's huge. The wrist rest area is awkwardly angled for my wrist, especially if I'm using my stupidly purchased weeb mousepads, IYKYK a separate wrist rest. It makes me put my whole arm way to extended. Otherwise I like the huge ball size. Speaking of angles, I never really tried to get wedges to bring the Huge more vertical. I did put a small wrist rest on the left side to bring it up a bit and do find it more comfortable.

On to the Deft Pro, cons would be I'd like it to be a bit bigger I think? Especially the ball, but it's functionally solid. Works much better with a separate wrist rest. Since it's small it's my office mouse that I lug around in my bag.

Both have started to get unintended double clicks. I never really have that much stiction problems with mine, but maybe my standard is low as these are the only

  • [bluesky] is already engaging in Blue Checks(tm)

Isn't this good, to make sure whoever the account is, is the genuine person? Or is it bad because the arbiter of said genuineness is bluesky, and I assume there's a payment for it?

  • some of the superstitious do believe that if you felt disturbed that's one way to be rid of them. zero shits given and tell wm to fuck off.

I kind of want to know how that works psychologically tbh.

  • Bandcamp and SoundCloud does sound better for smaller artists as I understand. Alas I still listen to big artists.

Edit: I do still let in newsletters from an artist on bandcamp, Jim Guthrie. I think he did the OST for FTL game. Should check him again. And go from there for discovering new artists on bandcamp

If you have cut off mainstream music streaming, how do you discover new music or artists and songs like what you're listening frequently?

I've been meaning to stop my Spotify sub because saving more money how ever small it may be. But I kind of like the discovery part of it.

Been using YouTube (Music) again for music listening honestly because it does have YouTube only artists and songs (not in an official partnership or similar, just that that's where people only upload there to share kind of thing), as well as live versions and in general the tons of covers, remixes and such.

Truth be told I like what YTM algorithm gives me recently.

Having said that, I am open to hear suggestions that further divorces from big tech.

I don't mind for anime/movies/shows as I rely on word of mouth in the various chat groups I'm already in. Maybe I should extend to music focused groups too?

"Speaking of food tracking, anyone know of anything simple that will let me do that. Used to have one but they all turned into sub fees and pushing upgrades and meal plans and crap

I just want to be able to select an apple or compile ingredients totals into a sandwich recipe I don't need to pay $8 a month for that"

I might as well look for FOSS ones

Posting language defaults to first language enabled in Content Language Preference. Any way to choose which one as default instead?

I don't post often either main posts or comments, but I just noticed that the current default posting language is the first enabled language in the Content Language Preference setting.

I can't recall whether this has actually been this way or not. I recall there was a bug that posting language was default to Portuguese a while ago. Is this another bug like that?

If not, I'd like to set my posting language.

    TIA.

Is there any YT Music front end app that can make changes to my signed in playlist?

So far I've tried Metrolist, Outertune and Kreate, and none of them can.

I assume this is a limitation somehow, but asking here just in case there is an app that can.

    TIA

Edit: I've looked at this open source music streaming list and tried SimpMusic. And hey presto it can do what I wanted to do.

The issue for me with Metrolist and Outertune is that it can only do local playlist that can be synced to my YT Music account. It could mean that say if I save my "MUsiiic" playlist from YTM as a local playlist, then enable sync to YTM, it would create double playlist.

I assume SimpMusic does the same somehow but it looks like I "turn on" save to local and sync it back to YTM. I checked and it didn't make duplicate playlist.

Edit 2025-05-28: One flaw -- not a giant one, but is making me look again -- that I found is that the sleep timer cannot d

Firefox users, how do you use multi account containers, if you even do?

I'm getting back into using Firefox mainly because of multi account containers. Basically I can open the same website logged in to different accounts by making it into it's kind of a sandboxy thing. That's the main draw at least.

There's also a bunch of more technical stuff explained herehttps://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/containers

Multi-Account Containers is an extension developed by Mozilla that allows you to separate your browsing experience into different color-coded tabs, to help protect your privacy. By using these containers, you can categorize their browsing based on purpose and create tabs for Work, Banking, Shopping and Personal browsing. For an extra layer of privacy, you can also integrate Mozilla VPN.

Not sure if I want to just follow the default ones and make a few more generalized containers, or make it semi-specialized like having only one container just for Xitter for example.

How do I copy wholesale my Firefox setup from my personal PC to my work laptop?

I'm sorry to those that seen this from asklemmy comm. Didn't read the rules. Reposting here.

Both are Windows machines. I know, don't need to preach about it.

I like how I set up the Firefox install on my PC and getting around to using it again for work because of multi account containers. Did the testing on my personal PC in case some things break with the hardening I chose for my threat model.

I just don't want to repeat the steps again, even if I already know what worked for me.

I found online that I could just copy the Firefox profile folder. Is that just it?

If it's the copy profile way, is the profile from a base Firefox compatible for other forks? If it's not the profile copying way, is the other ways compatible moving from base firefox to its forks?

    TIA
