Are you sure it is?
While I can see the appeal, it would probably need what amounts to a different system, I.e. not Lemmy.
Nextcloud data daily, same for the docker configs. Less important/rarely changing data once per week. Automatic sync to NAS and online storage. Irregular and manual sync to an external disk.
7 daily backups, 4 weekly backups, "infinite" monthly backups retained (until I clean them up by hand).
I use both, Traefik on my docker host that's also used for trying out new stacks, and NPM at work for a config that won't change (ever, probably).
Yes, the NPM web ui is somewhat easier in regard to proxying targets outside Docker.
Going container-only on a Debian base is a very stable environment without filling up your system with leftovers from experimenting with new services.
And yes, Jellyfin runs fine in a container.
Ramdisk?
Fedora Atomic desktops, specifically Kinoite with KDE6 works well for me, and is basically unbreakable due to the way it works.
Does it expect TLS, so https:// by any chance?
The fact that their sketch use of "spam" made it into general usage.
Either it was a glitch on my side, or they really went from 6.2.5 back to 6.2.1 and from there to 6.3.
Anyway, nice update
That's up to the specific community on that specific instance.
No, it's pretty much being disgusted with humanity until it's over for me. Fortunately it's a non-issue within the family, among friends or at work, and I rarely care about more than that.
payment system
Yeah, not going to happen.
How about an "Open Here"?
Which distro, which DE? Or any details at all.
That is not an unpopular opinion at all.
Yeah, that's to be expected with ls as it only lists the folder contents. Which format do you have?
If you're not sure what you're doing yet, do NOT start by hosting a mailserver at home. It will only lead to headaches and frustration, especially if your household is depending on those mails working reliably from day one.
Good luck with that.
Vaultwarden works really well for me.

Looking for personal cloud storage alternatives
A little background first: I'm selfhosting our (wife and mine) files for over 12 years now, started with a simple FreeNAS folder, switched to Owncloud and moved on to Nextcloud after the split. We only really need the files part, and while it works fine in general, setting it up took more tinkering than it should've.
I'm also not a fan of NC's direction, moving from file cloud hosting to a "full-stack" enterprise one-for-all solution. While that wouldn't be an issue in general, it seems that other parts are prioritized without getting the older parts to work correctly first.
Which seems to match with the recent-ish code analysis https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Service-Navi/Presse/Alle-Meldungen-News/Meldungen/Projekt-CAOS-30_Nextcloud_250205.html (in German, although CVE entries have an English description) which found nearly 40 vulnerabilities, amongst them modules like 2FA/MFA.
So I've tested through most of the other options, but maybe I missed something obvious.

Zwiebelplootz time is here

Autumn is here, which means it's time for Federweißer (new wine, still fermenting) and Zwiebelplootz!
Sautéed onions and bacon mixed with eggs and a kind of heavy crème fraiche on a yeast dough base.
But beware, every town and sometimes family has their own, slightly different recipe, so no guarantee it'll look the same should you ever try it.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federweisser
Edit: So whoever wants to give it a try, here's the recipe:
Dough:
- 375g flour (Type 405 in our case)
- 250ml milk
- 60g butter (room-temperature soft)
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cube fresh baking yeast (German cubes have 42g, so 21g)
Topping:
- 1kg onions, cut to fine rings
- 100g bacon, finely diced
- if the bacon is lean, add 20g of your preferred fat (lard, ghee, sunflower oil, etc)
- 3 eggs
- 4 tablespoons Schmand (i think this will depend on where you are, but it's basically a sour heavy cream. Ours has 24% fat)
- salt and pepper
- ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cara

Munch munch munch

What should be the caterpillar of an African death's-head hawkmoth (as far as my Google-fu tells me) having lunch in a botanical garden on the Azores. That thing was massive, but I guess you need a certain size for a 12cm wingspan.

Luck of the dice

Dice in the Crete sunset. 5 ones in the first throw.
We were playing a game called "to 10000", where different groups are worth a certain amount of points. 3x 1 in one throw is worth 1000, 4x 10000. We counted this one as 100k points in one throw, although the wife was somehow not amused.
The picture came out better than expected, I mostly took it as proof this actually happened.
