  • Wanting to own and control so much money that you could not realistically enjoy it all during one single lifetime is a mental disorder.

Wanting to horde all that wealth and keep expanding it at the cost of millions of people's lives is a psychotic mental disorder that will kill us all.

  • There was more energy spent to move the pliers than there was to remove the nail.

  • Most classic shows before 2000 are all mostly geared to a specific period of the year .... the fall or late summer when new shows were first launched. Then the episodes would follow the season, especially leading up to Christmas.

  • Beautiful work .... I wish my school had done that when I was a kid.

The great thing about it is that now you are helping to generate a new crop of kids who will learn how to use Linux. Sure, they will try to do stupid things on it like install games or figure out how to bypass things or install or uninstall ... the great thing about that is that they will learn how to use the system in order to try to break it. It's the same way I learned how to use Linux and probably the same way you learned how to use it.

You've advanced the computer department for those kids more than you know.

  • That's one of the great things about switching to Linux .... it forces you to learn something new and for kids that is a very good thing.

All those kids in the school that OP described were getting stagnant in a settled environment of living in Windows ... now that they have Linux in front of them, they will go on to learn how to subvert the system under Linux. It's not a bad thing in my opinion, it will create a whole crop of kids who now know how to fool around with Windows AND Linux.

I wish someone would have introduced me to Linux when I was kid.

  • ACK!!! ACK!!!!! ..... (picks up feces from between the keys, slings it at you) ..... AHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • An even better response would be ....

"OH WOW!!, ... I've never seen this meme before! ...... I should repost this! ... thanks guys!"

  • Memeception ..... it's a meme, dreamt within a meme, dreamt within a meme, dreamt within a meme

  • Another resource for searching content and how and where and who runs the Fediverse and which software operates what and how big each platform is

    https://the-federation.info/

  • That's a great idea but you should provide detailed explanations or at least mention the platforms you are identifying. I am a little bit familiar with them but I still had to look them up.

    Peertube

PeerTube is a free and open-source, decentralized, ActivityPub federated video platform. It can use peer-to-peer technology to reduce load on individual servers when videos get popular. As an ActivityPub platform, it is part of the federated network known as the Fediverse.

    Mastodon

Mastodon is a free and open-source software platform for decentralized social networking with microblogging features similar to Twitter. It operates as a federated network of independently managed servers that communicate using the ActivityPub protocol, allowing users to interact across different instances within the Fediverse.

    Friendica

Friendica (formerly Friendika, originally Mistpark) is a free and open-source software[5] distributed social network. It forms one part of the Fediverse, an interconnected and decentralized network of independently operated servers.

  • You had a bunch of sex with a guy you half like, spent 9 months like a sumo wrestler, then passed a melon from your body through a hole that originally fit a tennis ball and now you have to spend the next ten years spending a fortune raising a human being, then another decade spending an even larger fortune to raise them to become an adult ....... here's a $50 medal for your effort.

    The Great Canadian Reset

Did everyone notice how this election wiped out all the previous leaders and now we're faced with being introduced to a new crowd of political leaders.

Elizabeth May with the Green Party is the only one still standing.

    We beat global warming

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season 2 Episode 23 - Regeneration

The episode starts in the 22nd Century in the Arctic .... and the first thought I had was .... WE BEAT GLOBAL WARMING!!! Because there's still ice and snow in the Arctic.

There's no such thing as a wrong number any more

Every call I've ever had that was a wrong number, misdailed number, pocket dial or whatever that wasn't supposed to be for me turned out to be a spam call or marketing call for something. Most of the time, it was a way for me to confirm my number to some dumb marketer.

For the past year or two, I answer all mysterious calls I don't recognize and put it immediately on 'mute'. If the person calling doesn't identify themselves ... I let them hang up first and then I just block the number. If they identify themselves with some weird marketing message ... I let them hang up and then block the number.

It's no longer easy to play April Fool's jokes on Americans because their reality is so chaotic that it's no longer easy to tell what is real, funny, fake or sad.

One of the terrible things about having a close friend or relative die is that it is a subtle reminder that you've moved up in the line towards the end.

I just lost two close relatives who were also friends today. We grew up as kids and they were about a year or two older than me. I've always been aware of death and accept it but when stuff like this happens, it's a really strong reminder of how we're all moving along in the line towards the end.

We don't throw away garbage, we pass it on.

I was watching the documentary "Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy" on Netflix and heard this comment when discussing waste generated from consumerism.

It made me realize, yes we don't throw garbage "away" because away doesn't exist ... we just pass it on for someone else to deal with. Sometimes that next person might not deal with it right away but eventually someone has to deal with it.

Every package you receive has the chance of being a bomb

I got a package the other day from an online order I had made. My wife asked what it was and I joked and said it might be a bomb, some dust with poison or a virus or something. We laughed at the thought but it got me thinking of all the packages I just open without thinking all the time. I would never know it was a bomb until after it went off in my hands.

One of the most catchiest original songs I've heard in a long time.

It's freezing rain, thawing, freezing on the highway in northern Ontario ... stay at home!

The highways are literal ice, either thawing, freezing or going to become ice later tonight and people all over facebook, messenger, whatsapp, whatever are all messaging each other and me and my family asking what the highways are like today and if they can safely go out. People are dying on the highways this week all over the north. Stay at home.

The safest thing to do is just don't go on the highway when it is raining in December in northern Ontario!!!
