You arent kidding. I've been trying to justify spending $275 on some Super Red Ember Bees or "settle" for $150 on six Blonde Rubber Ducky isopods.
I have absolutely no idea how he kept his feet on that board during the slide under the wall. Actually amazing.
it's so perfect my brain is having a hard time believing it's real.

i world rock that setup if and ONLY if someone else is doing the maintenance.
Cool at a distance, eldritch horror nightmare when zoomed in.
I work in a customer facing position in the US where factions of an inch are used for measurements frequently in the design of a product. I deal with people who don't know 5/8 is smaller than 3/4 or that 3/8 is smaller than 1/2 on literally a daily basis.
People are dumb and I absolutely believe the burger anecdote.
That argument is a very short (not very detailed) way of surmising the current issue with our world as a whole.
Don't like how cars have taken over the world, are the reason cities are hard to live in for low income families, and cause massive amount of climate damage? You can thank the 1% for that.
Frustrated with how you don't really own anything, your digital "property" can be taken away from you at a moments notice, and that everything you enjoy gets stuffed with schemes to make more money off of vulnerable people? You can thank the 1% for that.
Angered that health care costs truly absurd amounts, that medicine is sold to the consumer with a 10,000% mark up, or that a single accident that was not their fault could land someone in debt for life? You can thank the 1% for that.
A disturbing amount of things that are not good for our planet, keep the poor people poor, and generate inferior products/experiences is directly because of the insane power that the rich hold over our worlds systems.
"It helps someone I don't like because they are richer than me" is actually a wonderful definition of harm.
Reddit used to be an amazing place of community and content that you couldn't find anywhere on the internet. Then in the pursuit of money and the power that the 1% have Reddit (the company) started implementing practices that actively made the experience worse for the user, violated a person's ownership of their content, and removed choice just like authoritative/dictatorship governments do.
It feels to most people that there is nearly nothing that can be done about it. So when a person has the opportunity to directly go against the rich caste in our world they will take that opportunity immediately.
I recommend taking a hard look at the things that concern you with our world, or cause you pain/annoyance/discomfort and try and learn WHY the issue is the way it is. The majority of the time is because some rich person/group of people (I'm looking at you lobby groups) has an obscene amount of power compared to all of the people affected.
Lastly there is a reason that "Tax the rich/Eat the rich" is the rally cry of generations.
It's because the rich cause us harm.
oh wow, I totally forgot about Harvey Krumpet. What a bizarre little tale.
They've got a pretty wicked groove going on. Love their sound.
She also weighs as much as a truck!
It's your for the low low price of redacted!
Thanks, it is very satisfying to type on. Oh... If you value your wallet, keep your knowledge of this hobby on an acquaintance only level.
I'll have to get back to you on that. These will be my first ABS Keycaps. I didn't plan it this way but my last 5 (6?) sets have all been PBT. Obviously I'm not worried about the legend disappearing but I'll have to give a 6 month check in on the texture/feel.
The closest you are going to get is one of the Keychron customs Q6, K10, K5. They lack in the design department and some of the nice meterial options but are functional if you want a full custom layout.
Trying to find really nice full layout keyboards is basically a unicorn hunt.
I kept eyeballing the Keychron Q6 or the Ducky One 3 but neither scratched the itch for design and or aesthetics that I was looking for. or materials for that matter. Quality full size custom keeboards are almost non-existant. I think I've found maybe 6 total.
Thanks!

I have ascended. My endgame keeb (for now) has be achieved.

I landed myself a solid salary job as a head of a department and as a reward my wife gave me permission to go wild with a new Keeb.
Enter the blue beauty.
Mode Sonnet - Navy body, brass bass, brass internal weight. Internal silicone mat, foam kit, POM plate, Durock V2 Gold Stabilizers.
Gateron Oil King linear switches.
GMK Blue Samurai doubleshot ABS Keycaps.
I am in love with looks and feel of this thing and can wait to put in some hours in front of the computer with it.
I immediately went and bought a Kia because of this fuck up. I live in a rural area and hardly ever visit any kind of heavy suburban areas where this kind of issue is prevalent. If I do I find a good parking garage to use.
Because of all the stuff going on with KIA I was able to pick up a 2016 Kia Sorento EX with all the bells and whistles for 6k Uber KBB. It is hands down the nicest car I've ever owned.
If you aren't storing your keys in S1, A1-10 what are you even doing? S4, B3 is for beef jerky, and S2, C2 is for volotiles but nothing nearly as bad as S2, C4 for what should be clear reasons. S4, D2-20 is for dice obviously,
This has given me an absolute aneurysm. I saved something to show the wife only for it to not be there when I went looking. I found the post the long way and sure enough it was still saved.
Maube it was a glitch....
Unsave and resave. still can't find it. rinse and repeat.
Eventually found out about the saving order quirk and sure enough all the way at the bottom was the saved post in question.
These have much better color rendering. They don't feel as washed out.
This feels like a great candidate for bracket exposing/HDR to help with the image impression. The whites near the top got blown out in these photos a bit to much. It looks like your camera is on a Tripod so if your camera can't do auto exposure bracketing I would take one photo a stop underexposed (to get the whites) one correctly exposed, and one over exposed. Then through them into a photo editor of your choice (gimp is free) andess with the layering to get the right blend. Some programs also do auto HDR merge.
If I were taking this photo I would probably try to lean into the color and texture rather than the 3d shape of the onion/chives/scallions. I would go for a ring light around the camera or a couple of softboxes and reflectors to eliminate as many of the shadows as possible depending on what you have on hand. One of those cheap photo boxes off Amazon might just to the trick for something like this.

Neeko patiently sitting for his portrait.

I got a new camera and my cats have been patiently dealing with being in front of the camera nearly constantly.

Product Photography I Guess

I'm currently stuck at home with a lower back injury looking for low impact stuff to keep me busy so I had my wife swing through the dollar store and buy me a bunch of colored paper stock and foam board as well as some fake sticky-back tiles. Used some lights I had lying around from my days as a mechanic and I don't think it turned out too bad.

Complete Uber Newb wants to create an audio app for Android/IOS: Where do I begin?
Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this kind of question, my options on Lemmy are kind of limited.
I play around a lot with experimental types of music and have been using a series of poly-rythm soundscapes that I have created for sleep aid. A couple of friends tried out the stuff I created and said it was amazing for sleep and relaxation.
This gave me the idea for an app that created the poly-rythm soundscapes using simple(ish) formulas that allowed the user to change the scale, scale mode, duration, ambient effects, and poly-meter type to suit their preferences.
I am currently injured and am on disability so have all time and boredom in the world to throw into this project.
My entire programming experience was a single semester of Visual Basic in 2003.
Where would I begin to bring something like this into existence? Thanks in advance.

My two ecosphere's barely holding onto life. Small - 3 yrs old, large 5 - years old.

I started both these from leftovers from other aquascaping projects just to see what would happen. Both have had major die off both in clean up crew and plants but are somehow still trudging along.
The small one has some algae, hair moss, and (surprisingly) an anubias petit nana hanging onto life.

My large one has had almost complete die off's and only a single plant has survived that I have not quite been able to identify. Looks like some sort of microsword. I glued some cheap USB powered LED's into the lid before sealing off the whole thing with some silicone. I don't run them very often, pretty much just on the weekends, but I'm still surprised they have lasted as long as they have.

Sealed 5 gal aquarium - 6 years old

This started out life as an aquascaping tank with various types of shrimp and a dwarf lobster. Life happened and I was no longer able to keep up with trimming the various plants and it went crazy.
Eventually I gave up and after the Lobster died I decided to convert it to a closed system just to see what would happen and taped the lid shut to prevent evaporation.
Much to my surprise it has been going really strong. There has been a couple of die offs when moving to different parts of the country but it bounces back pretty quickly. Much better than my other two ecosphere's.

Ban all believers of the "Flat Bowl"! Praise the true White Bowl.

My wife says standing over the sink at 3am cleaning tea infusers with a brass tooth brush, dremel tool, and dental picks is not normal. Is she right?
Context: I currently have a back injury and as such my sleep schedule has been destroyed. There are days that I simply cannot get comfortable no matter where I sit/lie.
The other night I was restless and couldn't get comfortable but was feeling tired. I wanted to brew myself a cup of tea but as luck would have it we had run out of fill-able tea bags. I pulled out the metal tea infusers and found that due to an improper cleaning at last use and who knows how long they had been sitting idle they were absolutely disgusting. Some had mold spots and one appeared to be rusting (how aluminum rusts I don't know).
I REALLY wanted my tea so I busted out my cleaning tools and got to work. She woke up to use the restroom and heard me in the kitchen and made it a point to call me out for being weird and that no one in their right mind would be doing what I was doing.
Is that a fair assessment? I only spent about 50 minutes cleaning them.

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest improvement to your morning routine.

I swapped out the momentary switch for a standard on/off switch from Amazon for my Eureka Mignon Filtro grinder.
The tiny act of not having to stand there pressing the button in the whole time you are grinding coffee seems petty and ridiculous but genuinely results in a better routine overall. I am now free to focus on other aspects of coffee prep and as a result the routine, even if just for the short time the beans are grinding, is improved
I like multitasking. What can I say.

Completely unnecessary tape mod hack: Vacuum Sealing.

Are you (like me) just a little bit extra? Do you often make things WAY harder than they need to be? Have I got the keeb mod for you!
After applying each layer of tape to your pcb go ahead and throw the whole unit in a vacuum seal bag for MAXIMUM tape to board contact!
Will it make any noticeable difference? Probably not. Does it look awesome? Uh-huh! Does it scratch your itch of needing to feel different and sightly superior than the masses? Abso-fricken-lutely.

My favorite keeb and the wrist rest I made this weekend.

Keychron Q1 Pro (taped, foamed), Tecsee Coral switches (two-stage spring, lubed, filmed), ACGAM Gradient Side Engraved OEM Profile Keycap Set.
I found this nice piece of wood in the scrap pile. I think it's red oak but can't be positive. profiled it and performed a super sketchy cut on the table saw to give it a nice even bevel.
