It hasn't stopped what happened to the federal government, and it wouldn't stop a military takeover of Canada. The kind of fighting we need is considered "disruptive" by almost everyone, and there's never enough people willing to do it. Not to mention the fraction of people who protest or do anything at all is so fucking small that I'm comfortable saying by and large, Americans are not fighting.

Well the rest of the Republicans voted to censure them from the senate and ban them from the party. So as it turns out, there really are only extreme Republicans. If they aren't extreme they're banned from participating in the party.
