I'm in love with isometric prerendered games from the late 90's early 2000's again!

  • I'm pretty sure they are a justified rip off. Iirc Blizzard was tasked with making proper WH and WH40K PC games when Games Workshop pulled the rug, and rather than waste assets they pivoted and molded the work into their own IPs. There's definitely Warhammer blood in both.

    Kinda like how Nintendo screwing over Sony (Phillips CDi history) jump started one of their biggest rivals.

    This is aside from the agreed point that generally IP protection is a fuck.

  • Kind of? I think it mostly lives outside of time iirc, but it's been some...time, since I digested it all. It definitely originated in the future though, you find out in the Endymion books.

  • I love a scifi series called the Hyperion Cantos that has a supernatural creature called the Shrike that impales people on a "time tree" to steal their Entropy. It's not at all adorable though.

    (major death of the author tho, and the 3rd/4th book get pretty problematic)

  • It's improv, most of the "results" might be determined before hand, but getting there is up to the wrestlers, and the audience doesn't know where the story is meant to go so can stay invested. The damage is fake but the athletics is very much real.
