Yep, it’s kinda scary isn’t it. The battery thing seems to be blocked by default on firefox and safari tho.
The website can show you what is leaked, it can not fix it for you unfortunately. Though the browser I link there does legitimately work. But alternatives like brave and the likes also do a great job.
And the feature to see if you are IP banned or blacklisted would be very hard to implement as reddit isn’t transparent about how they block people. So the only way to figure out is to make an account.
Not only would the IP address already get ya, but reddit is also known to use fingerprinting techniques to get ya.
Small plug, I made a site to check this: bscan.info
Thank you! I’m pretty new to web development, so it’s very hard to figure it all out (:

How to properly handle privacy on a website using api's.
Hey,
So I’m working on a website for a company. It is meant as a bit of an ad for the browser they are making which is anti-detect. The website shows potential ways other websites can use information from the browser to track you.
In order to make that work I use ipinfo and iphub as they are commonly used to get the ip adres based on the IP adres.
I recently moved from google analytics to a self-hosted umami solution in order to make the website more private. But the API’s are a little difficult for me. I don’t know what they do with the IP adresses I send their way. How do I address that appropriately?
Thank you!
(I’m not gonna put the link here because it promotes proprietary software which is seemingly against the rules)

Oh shit, I misread. Thought it banned social media from implementing addicting algorithms. Whoopsie
Wait… a bill from Florida that isn’t malicious? Someone pinch me.
I don’t think they meant the individuals are always selfish, more that the whole culture (and thus the lack of public transport) exists because of selfishness and fear.
Also in countries which are not as reliant on cars most people still have access to a car, they just use it less often.
Boss music starts playing
Or they should be made so expensive that they only make sense when there really is no alternative.
just plow a field and find out, it's simple really.
'it’s not perfect so we can’t' is absolutely not the 'dumbest fucking' argument if we are talking about actual human lives.
How low of a human being must you be to claim evidence has been destroyed when it hasn't. The cop who told that under oath should be fired and put in jail, like anyone else would.
Yea but how are they going to extinguish an non-centralized social network?
but the poor politicians need to make some money. /s
I agree it's a stupid company, but I don't see why we should work against them if they finally decide to so something kinda good.
We build this entire reddit alternative without interconnectivity with reddit, why couldn't we do that again if threads decides to do that. People will be familiar with how lemmy works and there will be no ads here, so I don't completely see a problem. Plus the format of lemmy is completely different from threads right?
Another layer to their technique, you just don't understand.
It's about 24% of the userbase according to this comment: https://lemmy.world/comment/6148151
How would they control it? If they do anything bad we can just defederate, right?
Is threads that bad?

What are some niche mods that you love
I'm looking for some smaller mods that I have never played before. Are there any you use that are not popular?
