  • Less freedom? You cannot even have your garden now you want without a "HOA" getting involved. Or choose your own broadband provider because Comcast bribed local officials. Or even doing something as simple as changing your own name without convincing a judge to let you.

  • Except in the 1500s, paganism was generally long gone- at that time, there was no point in placating it. The UK was under a lot of German and french influence, and less so nordic influence. Something as open and humanly universal as "pagans were bringing plants into the house" doesn't necessarily mean Christmas trees are of pagan origin. Just that pagans brought plants into the house. (With that logic- is putting some flowers out on the table paganism?)

Your timeline at 4 is wrong - Christmas was celebrated as early as the second century. Hyppolitus mentioned it and it's also mentioned in the Epistle of Theophilus.

[email protected] A community dedicated to documenting, discussing and critiquing overreach of the United Kingdom's Government.

Thought it was relevant considering recent cases of protesters being arrested, online safety act, encryption backdoor requirements being discussed, etc.

I'd like this place to also be neutral in terms of not fighting claiming "we should censor one idea but not the other", but just being posting articles about attacks on free speech and expression in general.

I willingly gave my phone number to Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons

A few months ago a pair of JWs were making the rounds of where I live. I talked with them, and they gave me a mobile number. I texted it, and was left on read.

A few weeks ago a Mormon approached me. We talked for a bit and they asked if they could have my number. I gave them my number. Still haven't heard back.

    I'm too powerful.

Mojang are doing a good job at running Minecraft

The main thing I am critical of are the chat reports, but that was essentially Microsoft's doing.

Back when the likes of 1.9 and 1.11 came out, they added things people they wanted (elytra, firework boosting) but ended up screwing over how the whole game worked. So I can see why they're being careful with harmless small changes. It's also a 16 year old game, the fact that they're pushing free updates for a one off £20 purchase is excellent. The game is also already pretty good as it is. The mob vote was a nice idea for community engagement(although they could have been more clearer on how the losers would be added later on). I think people are FAR too toxic that they aren't receiving free updates for a £20 game that is already absolutely stellar, and that many have poured thousands of hours in already, if not tens of thousands. I've been playing it for over a decade now, and I am quite happy with the direction it is going. People are ungrateful that they aren't getting huge game chang
