  • I am not really sold on this one, as I think they are going to lose what made Tron so special, and it was the effects. They were just mind blowing at the time, and then the effects for Tron Legacy were up there, not as mindblowing, but they seem to have done their homework. They are really going to have to work to keep up the 'legacy'. The soundtracks for both movies were also spectacular, so another very high bar they will have to get to as well. I will keep an open mind, but am not that optimistic at this point.

  • I played GTA V online with three of my friends, and had about 900 hours of play. Then one day, bam, they literally cut anyone using Linux off from being able to connect to the servers. It just leaves a real bad taste in my mouth, because I would have probably gone to RDR2 next, and might have even bought RDR on my Switch. Voting with my wallet is all I can do, and at this point it feels like voting for a president. My tiny little vote won't really amount to much, but hey at least I can feel good about standing on my principals. Like someone else said, they have 30 year backlog of games, and I have similar. So not playing either GTA V online anymore or buying GTA VI won't really affect me in the long run as far as hindering my enjoyment of other games so there's that...

  • Well that's a ripe take on this. Evidently you don't know anyone who runs Linux and played GTA V online. Rockstar can fuck right off for what they pulled. Definitely didn't earn any trust, and Windows users should be wary as well since they did that with no notice and no fucks given to a portion of their paid users.

  • I had two giant servers sitting under my desk when bitcoin started up. I was trying to decide whether to put them to work mining bitcoin or using them for seti at home. Well I decided to go with seti. And I am actually complacent with that decision, because had I got into bitcoin I know that I would have some sort of anxiety over when I sold, or what I paid for something like a pizza. I know those people who are searching trash dumps for their old hard drives are just in a weird hell that I am glad I never put myself in that situation.

  • Software "passing" a written test where it has been fed all of the answers is not that impressive to me, except from a programming standpoint. From the intelligence standpoint, not so much. Just because it can pass the bar doesn't make it lawyer worthy. This software cannot think, and that is ultimately what you pay a lawyer to do. None of this software is coming up with new thoughts, it's just regurgitating what it has been fed.

  • I had a particular set of notes stuck in my head for decades. Then one day about 10 years ago I finally managed to remember one of the words of the song, and with that actually managed to google the song. I thought it was something I would never hear again. That song is My Love is Alive by Gary Wright. I remembered the 6 notes in the bass line and that had been driving me nuts for decades.

This is a crazy good deal, and according to people on their discord, you can transfer the standard license to someone if you already have a licensed copy. You will also get the pdf copies from Paizo on their website.

Round Rock has an amazing library that any Texas resident can get a card free and check out books and media.

The Round Rock Library is pretty amazing, and any Texas resident can get a card free and immediately check out books and media. There's no charge to get a card either, you just have to show up in person, which you were going to do anyway if you planned on checking out books.

A major highlight in my opinion is returning the books/movies and watching them run up the conveyor belt and get sorted... Guess I am just a big kid.

Open letter to Austin about COTA

    Dear Austin,

The Circuit of the Americas has now been open for 10 years. I distinctly recall a number of politicians yakking on and on about how they were going to upgrade the infrastructure around the track when they were begging for money to get the facility built. Well, it's been 10 years and the people living there are still dealing with the same shitty ass roads that were there before, and the same shitty ass traffic. Only I am guessing now, that when an event is in town, they have to hunker down like it's a winter storm. What happened? Is it too much for the place to do what they said they would do, and get some better roads going in and out. And before it gets said, I mean roads that us plebs have to take, not the toll road. It's complete bullshit that it has been a decade and I am still having to deal with the same horrific traffic situation to get to the track. I truly feel sorry for people who have to live near there. Damnit Austin, we can really do better. But I guess the
