Russia bombed the rebels, together with the Syrian Air Force they were killing 200+ a day which would have mattered in a long war. https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/syrian--russian-forces-eliminate-terrorist-units-in-coordina
"Over the past day, aircraft of the Russian armed forces and the Syrian air force carried out missile and bombing strikes on places of militants' accumulation and ammunition depots in the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo. Up to 200 terrorists, 15 armored combat vehicles, two MLRS, two mortars, 43 vehicles, nine motorcycles, 15 drones, two command posts, seven material depots were destroyed," Ignasyuk stated.
But they never had many forces on the ground (6000 personel in 2017, idk how many now), Iran/Hezbollah basically liberated the country last time.
Assad resigns. - Russian Foreign Ministry
The smart move for SAA would have been to retreat to a defensible position and then launch an insurgency against HTS. HTS is deemed a terrorist organisation and they do not enjoy the broad popular support like the Taliban do in Afghanistan, so they do not have the means for a protracted war or sustained conflict, meanwhile Russia can continue supplying SAA through the ports/airfields.
Wasn't just HTS, they were being attacked from rebels in 2 other directions, from the South and Southeast. The rebels in the south had simliarly negotiated with Assad, but just a couple days ago started their offensive towards Damascus. Meanwhile cities which Assad held for years in the last civil war fell in days to HTS.

The SAA didn’t abandon equipment like the Afghan Army did when Taliban advanced. The SAA seems to have retreated with their vehicles, there is no sign of a rout.
Some of it was salvaged by crossing into the Iraq border, but I've seen reports that it was also abandoned. https://x.com/adam7867863/status/1864306554314342850 https://x.com/MyLordBebo/status/1865594048284680445

It's official, Assad resigns. - Russian Foreign Ministry
I worry how this will effect the genocide in Gaza.
If Syria falls it will complicate providing support to Hezbollah, since the land connection to Lebanon will be severed. Also last time the rebels invaded Lebanon, will they do so again? Hezbollah has so far pinned Israeli forces in the north.

Wonder what will happen to Russian bases near the sea.

From my standpoint, Syria is stronger than what it was in 2012. Also, they have strong allies such Russia and Iran so I am confident that we will see reality when the dust settles in the same fashion to what happened with Ukraine.
I am hopeful as the Syrian army hasn't yet lost in real fighting but I think the situation is close to its worst. Syria in 2012 did not lose major cities. They merely retreated from the countryside/desert.
While there were foreign terrorists in the civil war, they did not have a safe haven to accumulate in for years. We don't know how many jihadists from all across the world were accumulated in Idlib from all these years since 2019. There are significant convoys heading down the highway.
The resistance forces coming in from Iraq are having to deal with the Kurds and US, and lack a clear connection to Damascus. Russia's bases near the sea have almost been cut off by the offensive.
The website's creators are Ukrainian which is why they put UA in it, then they made it into an acronym.
^The map's creators are also biased (ua = Ukraine)
Edit: Pro-Syrian sources have posted similar territorial control though, its just I haven't found an alternative complete map. Take it with a grain of salt.

Situation in Syria deteriorates
- After capturing the second largest city of Aleppo, the rebels have captured the 6th largest city of Hama which the Syrian army purposely retreated from https://www.kurdistan24.net/en/story/813079/withdrawal-temporary-preparing-for-counter-offensive-says-syrian-army
They are approaching the next city of Homs is the 3rd largest and is said to be more sympathetic to the rebels. https://syria.liveuamap.com/
In the first Syrian war, while the situation was worse for Assad territoriality, he retreated into and held the cities. Aleppo and Hama never fell.
- The Kurds have continued fighting militias coming in to stabalize the situation in the name of fighting ISIS. Under this pretext they are also taking areas which the Syrian army has withdrawn from.
- The rebels that were in negotiation with the government in the south of the country, near the capital of Damascus have begun fighting as well.
The Kurds are basically renaming their enemy as ISIS just as Hitler named the jews as his enemy instead of the countries he fought.
The Kurds and the US are using fighting ISIS as an excuse to bomb and attack resistance militias.

It is an old social democratic/socialist anti-colonial party allied with the ruling Ba'ath party.
The party calls for an undivided Syria, a popular demand of the Syria-Palestine population during the King Crane commission survey (conducted in 1919)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King%E2%80%93Crane_Commission#Results_of_the_petitions_received
The party is famous for conducting suicide bombings against the Zionists. Half the suicide bombers were woman. It was founded in Lebanon where its armed wing (Eagles of the Whirlwind) is currently fighting the Zionists.
The party’s logo symbolizes the merging of the cross and the crescent into a new unit (the whirlwind).

Ukraine attacks Bryansk/Russia updates nuclear doctrine
Of the 6 ATACms, 5 were shot down and one was damaged, which hit a military warehouse in Karachev, Bryansk Oblast (over 110km/70 miles from border)

"These will only be used in Kursk region"

New Russian nuclear doctrine:
Article 11 ---> Attack by non-nuclear state aided by nuclear state is considered an aggressive act (ATACms need US officers)
Article 10 ---> If an aggressive act is committed by a member state of a military alliance, all parties of the military alliance are responsible. (Russia can strike any NATO country in response not just the US)

Up to one in five Ukrainian soldiers go AWOL – Economist
The desertion rate in the Ukrainian armed forces is 20%, a military source cited by The Economist stated

Google fined $20,000 trillion trillion trillion

The fine is a culmination of a four-year court case that started with the Google-owned YouTube banning the ultra-nationalist Russian channel Tsargrad

If you had these $20 decillion in the form of $1 bills, they would occupy 16 times the volume of the sun. In $100 bills it would be ~208,000* volume of Earth.
In terms of google's revenue of $250 billion it would take 8,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years to pay it all back, the current age of the universe is 13,800,000,000
https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/10/29/russia-fines-google-25-decillion-over-youtube-bans-rbc-a86846 (wrong figure)
According to RBC’s sources, Google began accumulating daily penalties of 100,000 rubles in 2020 after the pro-government media outlets Tsargrad and RIA FAN won lawsuits against the company for blocking their YouTube channels. Those daily penalties have doubled each week, leading to the current overall fine of around 2 undecillion rubles.
Google also lost its assets in South Africa due to banning SPAS

BRICS invites 13 countries as partner states, Venezuela excluded by Brazil
The group of countries invited to join the BRICS as "partner states" includes Turkey, Indonesia, Algeria, Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Uganda.
The BRICS countries have agreed to include 13 nations in the category of "partner states" in the association. However, the entry of these countries will not be made official during the summit. According to this definition, the Russian presidency will hold consultations with the partner countries to make membership of the BRICS official. The figure was confirmed earlier by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Vice Department Director of C.C., WPK
Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following press statement on Tuesday:
The reckless infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK by the ROK military gangsters is a hideous military provocation that can never be pardoned.
Seoul will have to experience at first hand so as to know properly how dangerous act it committed and how terrible and fatal the consequences it brought on itself are.
A military provocation against a nuclear weapons state may be led to horrible situation, unimaginable for politicians and military experts in any big or small country in the world with their normal thinking to experience. So, there will be no such instance except one recently made by lunatics of the ROK and Ukraine.
Such deed can be done only by lunatics in the Seoul and Kiev regimes.
Seoul and Kiev are exact counterparts in going about begging and letting loose reckless remarks against
