  • True :D Bullshitting is usually the specialty of Horner (who also gave really whiny interviews). It’s sad that they gaslight fans into wrong assumptions when the steward usually give reasonable explanations for any decision (like in this case, giving a lighter penalty for 1st lap). They blatantly and knowingly lie (in a much more consistent manner than other teams in my view)

  • A snake fart from the desert around Jeddah merits more airtime than anything this clown spits out.

  • The platform is the same as the Solterra and Toyota bZ4x, native electric cars. This Trailseeker doesn’t probably share anything with the actual Outback. I agree on the looks!

  • I tried one almost new (a “new vintage” from Zassenhaus that sells new for 80€!) and it was so miserable that I couldn’t believe it: grind setting changed while spinning and not smooth at all. Metal burrs, but unusable…

  • Rookie mistake. Just give him some time to learn the tracks and adapt to the sport.

  • Nice! It slightly missed the focus on the eye, right? It looks a little back-focused.

New basketball-specific shoe by Xero Shoes

Last year someone asked for a recommendation, now a shoe tailored for basketball exists.

  • Didn’t check that, assumed The Verge covers mainly North America.

  • Yeah, a quite silly idea but not too far off (100Wh from powerbank vs around 340Wh of the bike - not negligible!) :)

  • No, today most powerbanks with high wattage use EPR Power Delivery. The one I linked can charge up to 140W and should be able to charge the bike. Voltage is variable, in this case around 28V at 5A.

  • I wonder if one can just strap this bad boy on to the frame for around 25% more battery capacity :D

  • Did you find a boot that satisfied you? I was looking at the German Bär manufacturer and they have an interesting boot choice, reminded me of this post so I chime in even if your post is a bit old: https://www.baer-shoes.com/men-boots/

  • I live in Europe and use the minimalist-but-has-everything Sigma ROX 11.1 computer. I don’t know in which market is sold but I like it a lot. It doesn’t have a map but it shows the GPS path you should follow. Configuration is through an app but it’s then pretty open as of what you do with the gathered data.

  • Unior is solid and european, Topeak and Birzman are from Taiwan I think. SKS from Germany but their core products are fender and pumps. Shimano PRO also has some good tools. I tend to avoid BBB. In Europe we have Decathlon with incredible value, but I don’t think they are present in Canada?

  • Same here, a couple of days ago I was scrambling to order a sun filter and get it in time for the eclipse, and then I checked the weather forecast… no need to hurry, next eclipse in September

  • Thanks for your thoughts on that! I have a Skilhunt H04 RC and use it extensively around the house for handiwork, but it over the limit for a jogging headlamp for example. I would expect the D4W to be in the same range.

  • I hope they change Racing Bulls livery, to avoid being mistaken for one team with 4 ca… waaait a minute 🧐

  • Didn't really got the chance to use it for what I meant to (I'll check soon if the headband of the Manker E03H II fits, if not I have to find one that does). I skipped the bigger Hank worklights because I feared they would be too big and bulky, but this feels perfect. It's light but solid. I'll also evaluate the beam shape and in case swap in other TIR (I got the other 2 options to be on the safe side).

    Showcase FireflyLite NovMu V2 + X1L

Hullo! Begging pardon in advance for the missing beamshots, here a couple of pictures of the latest buys:

    • FireflyLite NovMu V2 with Nichia E21A 4500K R9080 in Fossil Grey
    • FireflyLite X1L Elite with Cree XHP70.3 HI 4500K CRI 90 in black HAIII

Build quality and LEDs are just awesome, they aren’t cheap but feel very premium. Feel free to ask any questions!

I’ll try to get some beamshots if anyone is interested, I’m still not sure on the right place and setup.

Latest updates on Fireflylite X1L Elite

Hullo! I just wanted to make aware of the latest updates on one of the newest Fireflylite flashlights, the X1L Elite (I am in no way affiliated with them and read the most info on Reddit, but it would be nice to kickoff a discussion on it here too).

Yesterdays update includes these 3 emitter choices:

    • CREE XHP50.3 HI 5000K CRI90 2600lumens 120 000cd
    • CREE XHP70.3 HI 6500K CRI70 3500lumens 84 000cd
    • CREE XHP70.3 HI 4000K CRI90 2600lumen 62 000cd

It's very strange that the 70.3 HI 4000K would output the same lumes as the 50.3: I asked them and Ivy (the sales representative of Fireflylite) says it's because it's the low bin K2, if someone were interested.

There is as of now just one review by ZeroAir but it is expected that at least two other reviews will come out soon.

I hope some of you find this interesting, I personally find the 4 new mode

My Keychron Q8 Pro in its final form

    • Keychron Q8 Pro
    • Gazzew U4Tx + a couple of Kailh Box Navy switches
    • MTNU Beige keycaps (lovely new profile, GMK made double-shot PBT, expensive - even more due to Colemak)

I bought the keyboard immediately when I found out they made a BT version of the Q8 (I use a Q10 daily at the office), as I was looking for an iPad compatible one. Very happy with it!

Matt3o on the first MTNU batch

Just wanted to share the link to the livestream of the designer Matt3o looking at the first batch of the MTNU keycaps. They are made by GMK out of PBT, with double shot legends. The profile has been developed by Matt3o and GMK as a Cherry-height spherical angle shape. First batch is currently shipping out and has the WoB, Beige and Susu colorways.

I find it really interesting and I don’t think I read anything here regarding this.

iPad photo editing apps without subscription

    crosspost from: https://lemmy.world/post/5033285

Hullo together! I finally got to order my first iPad (Pro 11")! I'm a long time MacBook and iPhone user and do a little photography now and then. On the Mac, I use Olympus OM Workspace to import and decode the RAW files. They go as TIFF files in Affinity Photo for the actual editing - I find the ORF engine in Affinity much worse than the "official" Olympus one.

Affinity Photo for iPad is a thing, but:

    • importing directly could mean use an inferior RAW engine (I don't think Olympus has native iPad software for that - can the iPad even handle ORF files?)
    • The V2 release was really lukewarm and I still use the V1 on my Mac. I am a bit skeptical of the software house in the long run, but I'd love to be proven wrong!

Now, do you have suggestions on how to handle an editing routine on iPad and which software to use, ideally without subscription costs?

The edited and finished photos are usually saved in Files and im

    Gazzew (Boba) U4: housing material

Hullo everyone, I’m looking at silent tactile switches and for sure one of the most recommended is the the Gazzew U4. I see that the white “Boba” housing plastic has been changed to a new one with better discoloration resistance. Does anyone have esperience with the new version? Particularly regarding scratchiness, I have a tester with the 62g black “Boba” plastic and I wonder if the 65g new white plastic could have some negative acoustic impact. Not a big deal, but I couldn’t find first hand experiences on the web.
