  • That's so interesting: an event map would draw me in! I like graphs and seeing what I did and did not complete. But knowing FOMO affects you negatively and dropping it because of that is totally valid.

  • Feel free to let me know if this is inappropriate, since I literally just copy/pasted it off the comment I put on the weekly what are you playing post in !otomegames@ani.social.

Went and played the Saintess of the Golden Bow demo. Haven't explored different options yet, just one playthrough.

    • MC is definitely her own person, and I like how she has realistic reactions to her situation but also still refuses to just give in—she pushes herself to make sure she's taking action to get out of the situation. Has her own hangups about love which bodes very well for my drama appetite.
    • Game is very pretty. Also torments me with the fact that out of all the dateable characters, I only like Noah's sprite; for literally every other character I like their sprite including MC's abusive dad. Just off looks he looks better than the LIs 😳 I like the personalities of all the guys though.
    • +1 for quality of life features. I got times in the game where it's clear I can make a choice to ask for exposition, but I'm pretty sure I could also not without being penalized. I also got the game explicitly telling me about the fact that the next choice I made would lock me on one guy's route. Yay for having this information upfront for replays!
    • I feel right at the beginning I was fed lots of different situations with romantic drama lurking and I am living for it.

Psychedelia titles 75% off on Steam

    • Psychedelia of the Black Butterfly: $29.99 -> $7.49
      • Its Deluxe Bundle is the base game plus the DLC. It is also on sale for 75% off: $31.48 -> $7.86
      • The DLC is an art book, OST, and wallpaper. It is also on sale for 75%, $4.99 -> $1.24.
      • Buying the game and the DLC separately would be $29.99 + $4.99 = $34.98 normally, $7.49 + $1.24 = $8.73 on sale. So if you want both the Deluxe Bundle will save you money.

All Hana Awase titles 50% off

    United Kingdom link

I admit I heard about this from a European friend, and don't speak any language other than English so I don't have links for the other EU countries.

EDIT: Now on sale for the United States of America and Canada too!

  • Do not think the novel has Jim and the fired mage hook up to start a business, cute addition.

Does not feel too satisfying but that is probably my fault for reading the finished web novel ahead of the manga completion, wonder if epilogue chapter will help.

    Thanks for posting this!

What otome games are you playing this week of April 27, 2025?

Weekly what are you playing post! Post about the otome games you have been playing!

  • I admit I have been holding back some interesting questions because I do not know if they'll get engagement, and deleting a thread because it got no engagement and reposting later in hopes people bite feels bad and somehow a bit sneaky and deceptive. I have done that, and have spaced out by weeks or months instead of after a few days so it does not come off like spam, but I still felt bad doing it somehow.

What kinds of posts do you want to see on c/otomegames?

  • I wonder what communities people put on ani.social such that there needs to be a rule about communities being related to anime. (Honestly curious!) I agree with the rule, but I'm assuming it had to be instated specifically because someone put something non-anime-related here, as I also figure it is kind of obvious ani.social is for anime communities.

What otome games are you playing this week of April 20, 2025?

Weekly what are you playing post! Post about the otome games you have been playing!

  • I used to read a wider spread of genres, but I definitely seem to have consolidated towards shoujosei, and as far as I have noticed you are the only one posting that here. I'm a lot more of a "broad tastes" person outside of anime and manga.

  • Another series to toss on my to-read list. This would normally be a "click and read immediately!" but I find myself with more things that must be done in real life nowadays :(

I ought to mention I'm pretty lucky that one of the active !manga@ani.social posters, aka OP, shares my tastes in manga :P Thanks again!

  • I find Lemmy to be a fun Reddit alternative. I do love r/otomegames, no beef with them at all, but I wanted to leave Reddit behind (mostly because they forcibly resorted my feed from Best to Controversial :/ made me think a bunch of sweet, nice communities had suddenly morphed into jerk central for a bit before I figured out what Reddit did).

I'm so glad ya'll are on wiki.gg! I'm not a Voltage girlie myself but I'm willing to try to take it on to help you out with the wiki. Wikis are great.

I did end up joining! Very quietly, I haven't talked at all lol.

  • I guess I am just used to seeing very negative interactions online, especially from two opposing positions, and like to make it extra super clear I'm not trying to be an asshole to you or shit on you, given just how many times I've seen "I disagree" expressed alongside insults, or at least an aggressive tone even if there's no explicit name calling. Call it the pendulum swinging too hard the other way as backlash from it, and a product of me desperately trying to ensure I'm not being misunderstood (it happens!). Thaanks for the details!

  • I feel like you also have a bit of an advantage because people who don't really care about lemmy might not care about an address like lemmy.zip, but crazypeople.online gets attention, as would ani.social from anime enjoyers like myself.

Crimson Waves on the Emerald Sea: Amaranthine Moon, an indie otome in an alternate Victorian world where the vampire MC is trying to sell a cure to vampirism

    Steam link and itch.io link.

In an alternate Victorian world, vampires are part of every day life. But when an actual cure to vampirism is discovered, not everyone takes too kindly to the disturbance in the status quo...

Determined to make her own destiny as she turns 18, the young head of her family Lucie plunges headfirst in the conniving world of business dealings. Before she's able to seal the deal on a revolutionary treatment to vampirism, her business partner suddenly dies. Lucie finds herself embroiled in the middle of the mysterious death of her former partner and an event from a decade prior...

Game can stand alone, but is the sequel to a non-otome regular visual novel (shoutout to our friends over at !visualnovels@ani.social) set around 5–6 years before the otome. That visual novel is *Crimson Waves on the Emerald

  • These benefits are honestly things that do not enhance my personal experience, but I hope others find them useful. I'm probably forever going to be the "not for me but the community has outvoted me so I guess I can let it exist without complaint for the common good even if I personally don't like it" guy. Thank you for your explanation. You might want to put these benefits somewhere on the Lemmy Federate project sites so people can learn about them.

    for almost every community

Do you have to sign a community up to have it put on Lemmy Federate, or is everyone's community glommed up regardless of whether it was signed up for it? How does this work? I want to know how it works, all the things an admin needs to know, or maybe a mod, not just a list of benefits.

Again, thank you for engaging with me, I realize my questions and bias against it are probably seeping through and making me appear more hostile to you than I am. I don't really like the tool but I notice a lot of others do and you did put it forward and, I think, create it with good intentions for the Fediverse, and I (have not contributed any code to the Fediverse's wellbeing) thank you for that.

Is server load of posts/communities just not an issue? Questions about lemmy-federate from a skeptic

It seems https://lemmy-federate.com/ is just wildly popular with people suggesting it and eagerly biting on the suggestion they were given. It seems to just completely subvert the intention of not wasting any storage or space or even energy by federating out communities others did not ask for, or federating in communities nobody on the instance subscribes to, by having bots on instances follow communities. So my understanding is that even if nobody on example.instance cares about exampleCommunity@federate.org, example.instance still wastes resources on federating it in if someone submitted it here.

    I do see that

If you want to add your instance to the list, you can login from top right. If you are a user, you can ask your instance admin to add your instance.

on this page. And I have heard of instances opting out from this. So I am curious: if your instance does not participate, what does that mean? No bots subs

Where do you play otome games most often?

Almost made the title "no console warring here!" both because I (thankfully) rarely see that attitude in otome communities and it feels more appropriate for the picture, but I figure I ought to lead with the question so people can actually answer.

I asked in this community before what your favorite platform to play otome on was, but that is a different question from what you actually use most often to play otome. What do you play otome on most often and does it match your favorite platform for it?

The Dragon Princess, a kinetic (no choices) novel

On the night before her wedding, Princess Amaia of Steinna whispers a wish she thinks will be unheard. The moment she pronounces thse words, "I don't want to marry him", a dragon appears and, in a pure fairy tale fashion, kidnaps the Princess, trapping her in a tower. Surprisingly enough, the dragon, named Happho, is rather sympathetic and claims she wants to set Amaia free from her tyrannic fiancé, Azaiah, of whom the Princess of Steinna seems frightened... Can Amaia really trust her jailor? And in the end, who will save the Princess?

Text adventure games that sometimes have images: do they belong here?

I came across a game like that today. Think the stuff on https://choiceofgames.com/ (pick anything and play a few chapters to get an idea of it). Are they welcome here if they have illustrations? After all, who says visual novel must fit the usual UI scheme of picture taking up the whole screen, text box at the bottom, and popups for choices? But then again, I can see taking issue with "well how many times do illustrations show up?" and wanting to keep VNs separate from things that do not advertise themselves as such. In the end it is not my community, so I am asking what I should do here.

    Otome game news website

Found this. Never heard of it before, I figure it's a few enthusiasts putting something together and hey, that's what this community is too! It has news and judging by the "ONLY Otome Hub You'll Ever Need!" recommendation for the title when I pasted in the URL, they are probably trying to be a center for otome information. Figured I'd check it out a bit.
