Partially sighted stroke and cancer patient, learning to walk again, going through months of foot surgeries. Fighting a disability benefit appeal. I won my last appeal just 2 years ago and am now going through yet another one. All I want is peaceful, painless assisted suicide.

  • If this was my only problem that might be enough but it just feels like too much on top of everything else already. And going outside and walking around creates good chemicals in the brain, which helps. I've got no way to get that now.

  • I am tired of being online all the time though. I want to be outside. I feel like I'm in prison.

My mental health has taken the ultimate nosedive. I don't know how much longer it's worth holding on.

I never knew just how much walking around outside improved my mental health until I lost the ability. While going through this benefit appeal, cancer treatment and recovering from a stroke, everything has been so hard but being able to walk down to the beach and spend some time outside with my landlady's little dog each day, made life tolerable. Then I got stuck inside for a while due to my foot surgery, and this other one coming up on Thursday. Being stuck indoors has made life much more frustrating and stressful and given me nothing to look forward to, but at least this had an end date. After recovery from the surgeries I would be able to walk around again. But now I have developed achilles tendonitis. It's the second time I've had it, the first time I was in a plaster cast for 10 days and couldn't walk properly for months. This time who knows how long it will last. Google says it could take a year to improve, or it might never get better. I'm a lot older and sicker than the

Shopping has just become an even more dystopian experience.

I went to Sainsburys today. As I got to the self-checkouts, I could see there was a much bigger queue than usual. I soon found out why: they have just updated all of the self-checkouts, and the new software is glitchy. About half the people there checking out were requiring assistance from the staff, and the three staff members could barely keep up.

For a while now all of the self checkouts have had screens above them that record, or at least watch you while you scan. You can see yourself in the screen, I assume it's to deter theft. I started scanning my items, and immediately I found out what the new software is. On the first item, the screen snapped an image of my face, and kept the image on screen above me, while the screen in front of me that shows the scanned items got a big warning flashing up on it, declaring that I had bagged an item that I hadn't scanned.

Both screens froze like this, my face on the screen above with a message in huge letters on the screen below declaring to

    I need another £25 - need met.

    thanks so much.

  • I have thought about this many times. If this is the case, why do some people suffer so much more than others? What's the purpose of those who don't suffer much? And why is it dragging on for so long? if you take into account the history of life on earth, since animals suffer too, then cavepeople existed for hundreds of thousands of years, then civilised humans for thousands of years, billions of humans and probably millions of trillions of other lifeforms. Why does god need the suffering to drag on for so long? Not to mention why does it need to experience the same suffering over and over again? Millions of humans have experienced the same suffering as each other - millions have been enslaved, millions have been sex trafficked, millions experienced war, starvation, illness and disability, the loss of loved ones, loneliness, poverty and fear. Why does god need to experience these things from billions of different perspectives over and over again?

If there is some kind of higher purpose for all of this then I think it's more likely that we're supposed to be using the natural bad things in life, such as lack of necessities, illness, natural disasters etc as an opportunity to show love and care and help to our fellow humans. Obviously humanity in general is failing miserably at this though, and even making matters worse.

UK government putting together a plan to make unemployed young people to join the army.

"Ms Kendall said in the House of Commons she “absolutely agrees’ with calls to ensure more young people join the armed forces, and she would be putting together a plan to make this happen. She added: “I will certainly be having more conversations with colleagues in the Ministry of Defence.”

I suspect this is one reason why they tightened the definitions of disability and made it harder, especially for young people, to claim disability. if they're declared fit and healthy they can be forced into the army ready for ww3.

Still need help with my foot surgery - here I explain about it and what i need help for. Needs met, thank you so much!

I'm having my third foot surgery on 24th April. It's because a side effect of my cancer treatment was developing foot ulcers, which then became infected. The cancer treatment has weakened my immune system so I have been unable to fight the infections off myself. After trying various other treatments which didn't work, the only thing left to try was surgical debridement, which is where they cut out the dead, damaged and infected parts from my feet.

This is my third surgery. They couldn't do it all in one go because they can only use a certain amount of local anaesthetic each time and with multiple areas that need treating, they had to break it up into several separate surgeries.

After the surgery my feet will be bandaged and have to be kept dry. The dressings need to be changed daily. Although the NHS pays for the surgery they don't pay for the shower boots needed to keep the dressings dry, or the dressings themselves. At the hospital they sell the dressing packs and the shower boot

I'm having surgery on 24th April and need some help paying for it. Needs met, thank you!

My final foot surgery is coming up, April 24th. (That's why I'm asking for help now, so I have time to repost if necessary, or cancel the surgery if I can't get enough help to pay for these things). Afterwards I'll need packs of bandages (which must be changed every day), as well as waterproof shower boots. The NHS doesn't provide these things for free, and without them I can't have the surgery.

People here kindly helped me buy these things last time so I could have my previous surgery in January. I hoped I'd have enough of the bandages left for this time, but I don't. I ended up running out last time as the areas took longer than expected to heal - in the end I got through 4 boxes last time. Whether I need as many this time depends on how long it takes to heal (I had issues with infections of the surgical sites last time which slowed down the healing.) I bought the waterproof shower boots last time but after being used for so long (months) they began letting water in. If I can't get

Lost my purse with travel cards, need help with replacements. Request filled, thank you so much!

Sorry to make another request for help so soon, but I don't have any choice. Last week I had an appointment and while I was out I lost my purse. So this week I've been cancelling all the cards and ordering replacements. All the replacements will be free except my two travel cards. I have a disabled person's concessionary bus pass, which is free but if you lose it they charge £10 for a replacement. Also my ferry pass which is £20 for a replacement.

The loss of the purse has been reported but it has not been found or handed in.

I need these travel passes because I can't drive due to being partially sighted and I can't get around easily without them due to having had a stroke. Without them I can't attend hospital appointments or go anywhere. One hospital is accessible by bus and another is easier to get to by ferry.

Could anyone help me out with a food voucher?

This is just my usual monthly post asking if anyone could help me out with a sainsburys voucher so I can keep eating until I find out about my benefits. Does anyone know what rights people have to see a doctor in the UK?

I'm having trouble getting the medical care I need and I just wondered if anyone knows my rights or what to do about it.

A few months ago the endocrinologist lowered my thyroxine dose as she said the high dose was putting me at risk of another stroke. However over the past few months I've become more and more unwell on this lower dose. I'm so tired I can barely do anything, so brain foggy I can't concentrate on anything, my cardiac symptoms have significantly worsened, my mood is much worse - I feel more depressed and frustrated than before, along with a load of other symptoms. These are all symptoms of my thyroxine dose being too low. However since then the endo has discharged me, so I can't get any help from there, at least not without spending another year on the waiting list and I can't wait that long.

I can't get a GP appointment either, it's impossible. They no longer give appointments in advance, they tell you to phone or come to the surgery at 8.30am and ask for an appoi

European countries warning trans people not to travel to US over "fears of indefinite detention."

  • I'm just waiting to see what my financial situation will be, both with my own benefit appeal and the general changes the government are introducing. I can't face being potentially out on the streets or shuffled around homeless shelters, when I'm unwell, disabled and going through surgeries.

  • I spent most of my working life as a carer for the elderly. Most of the people I looked after had kids, but their kids didn't bother with them, visited them twice a year if they were lucky. Having kids is no guarantee of companionship in old age.

  • Removed.

  • I'm being downvoted so it looks like even people here don't want to hear it.

  • It's also the neverending stress and uncertainty. The frequent assessments and appeals, you know your only source of income could be stopped very soon. The constant threats from the government to end or cut your already low income. It just never ends, you can never relax.

  • What is the meaning of life?

  • This is not news. Huge numbers of people in this country have had terrible living standards for years. many people, from children to the disabled, even full time workers, going hungry regularly. A housing crisis, many homeless and housing insecure people, the NHS is crumbling so many medical conditions aren't being adequately treated. This is a poor and miserable place to live.

  • Happy birthday!

  • I don't have any optimism. The 21st century seems like a replay of the 20th century, first a depression and pandemic, now the rise of fascism and potentially ww3. I have lost hope that humanity will learn from its mistakes and change.

  • Thanks so much for all your help with that.

  • Thank you so much!

I was thinking of making a post on the 1st of each month until I can get my benefits sorted. But I may need to make one sooner.

  • I've pleaded with both the RSPCA and the vet, neither care.
