  • You're right, I got heated, and I'm sorry, but if you are genuinely incapable of understanding why people don't like your community and those associated with it, then you are fogged and dense

  • Let's take a look at one of those posts (since you obviously didn't)

The comment in question is in response to a post that says "Capitalism is the root of evil" and says

The state owning the means of production means the people running the state have a shit ton of power. Just takes a handful of bad people to turn that into oppression as we've seen in the USSR and China. If you disagree feel free to explain your reasoning

This person's comment was removed and they were banned from the community, with the only explanation being "Rule 1"

Now the mod who banned this person was Dessalines, who is an admin for .ml, not a mod for the Memes community, so I'm not sure if they are referring to the Meme community's rule 1 or lemmy.ml rule 1, so let's take a look at both.

    Lemmy.ml Rule 1:

No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

I'm failing to see how the original comment relates to any of the listed terms or what this has to with "not being a liberal." If you disagree, please enlighten me

    Memes Rule 1:

    Be civil and nice

I can only see civility in the comment and, once again, nothing about "don't be a liberal"

Is the fog starting to lift yet or are you still going to be intentionally dense about why people don't like you?

  • Very curious indeed. If we take a look at [email protected] (is this how I link communities?) we can see several posts from the last couple hours alone of people getting banned for sane takes and attempts at discussion. Truly, it's a wonder that anyone would be upset by this

  • This might sound weird but the first game that came to my mind was cod. If the goal is only to familiarize her with the controls then you don't even need to play online. Just load up in a private lobby alone and learn how to walk while looking around, add in sprinting and jumping, then figure out how to aim and shoot at stuff (stationary if necessary). I imagine that if she's able to get comfortable with all that then she'll be fine with literally anything else.

Other than that just play games that you're both interested in and the controls will come with it

  • AI sucks

  • Society collectively when, whenever a person or company talks about AI, they're talking about chatgpt, Gemini, deepseek, ollama, or whatever other LLM you want to substitute it for

  • As someone else pointed out when this article was posted yesterday, the legal system doesn't consider it theft, it's considered copyright infringement, though I suspect this doesn't change anyone's opinion on it

  • One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention yet, in this post or the last one, how to you plan on aquiring videos for your server? If you plan on torrenting, you just have to pay for a vpn, Proton doesn't allow you to make p2p connections like that on a free account

  • Obviously they know what they're doing nowadays, but in Minecraft's infancy - particularly when notch was solo developing - the game, at least as far as I remember, had a particularly bad case of spaghetti code that has survived the games entire life, even to today

  • Bedrock has always run smoother than Java. That's just a result of the game being rewritten by more experienced coders and it being in c++. The only thing we can do with Java is mod it but you said you already tried that

  • Started playing through the Assassin's Creed series again but completely disabling the hud, even the minimap. I did have to open the big map frequently at the beginning but you get used to it and it just feels cool having to scope out/explore an area to find and get to your target and deal with guards as they come

I will say the first game feels like it was made to be played this way, but the second game (which I'm on now) and later unfortunately don't feel like that. Still gonna try to get through the whole series like this though
