I'm not a mod anymore, but downvotes are disabled on beehaw.
I don't feel the need to go into detail, but it was an interaction in the mod discord that changed my mind.
Deciding to contribute regularly, let alone to mod a community, isn't a light decision for me. It's a lot of time and effort to spend.
So for me it doesn't take more than one interaction that feels disrespectful and dismissive to decide that my time and energy is better spent elsewhere. I've been around more than one online community and feel as if I can recognize patterns by now. That's what made me want to take my time and attention to another instance.
If the other party to that interaction wants to weigh in, that's well within their power to do.
@[email protected] Frogman has a good point so maybe we can leave it as-is. I just won't use it.
Still it should probably be fixed before you get a letter from a lawyer about GDPR violations.
My feelings about beehaw as a community changed today, which is why I'm leaving.
But I will give some thought to it. Maybe if the admins don't delete it I can leave it in place and the comments and posts can be of some use to someone.
Thanks
I just locked your post, but I can't remove anymore https://beehaw.org/post/1051360?scrollToComments=true
Yup! I type my password, get logged out, but the account still exists. Also I press "leave mod team" and it doesn't take.
I can't seem to leave the c/news mod team either.
How can I delete my account?
Iβm moving to delete my account. Doing so logs me out.
But the account still exists. I can sign right back in.
How can I delete it permanently?
Benjamin Netanyahuβs coalition wins first of three votes required for controversial changes to become law
In a move that seems to clearly violate the (ostensible) three-way division of power, Netanyahu moves to consolidate more power in the legislative that he controls.
This can be seen as undermining a structure of power usually considered foundational to liberal democracies.
I feel as if I have to remove this because of the source being so non-credible.
If you can find a more credible source than a person on youtube, please repost. But I am removing this with an eye to the following guideline:
Social media should be a source of last resort.
I think a sports community might be a better fit for this. I'm also noting that you're getting downvotes, which are necessarily off-instance since they aren't supported on Beehaw.
But right now I don't find any sports communities while searching, and so that makes me think it can stay here for now. This is related to an international event, even if it is a sports event.
Not every protestor is necessarily prepared to face big jail sentences.

Take some time to think about whether these are positive contributions you're making, or if you're just being argumentative. You're also not approaching my argument with good faith.

It has nothing to do with us.
I think you will find that the liberal-capitalist world order with some semblance of norms like national self determination and resistance to overt nationalistic annexation does benefit the US.
Note that I'm not saying I like this world order, or the US politic. But your assertion looks false to my eyes. Even if there was no moral issue of enabling Ukrainian self defense because Ukrainian self defense is a moral good, the USA benefits from preventing authoritarian regimes from using military force to swallow up their neighbors. And so do the European countries.

Hey, I don't agree with you, but I also don't agree with others here putting words into your mouth. But just like I'm asking others to take a breath, I'm going to ask you the same.
I think you could have been better served here by disengaging instead of escalating. Or maybe, by answering the question posed, and re-starting your view without being argumentative. You're falling into the trap of generalizing the same way a few of the comments below you did.

I don't necessarily think you're wrong in asserting that this is a behavior of the groups you mentioned, but it's important as far as we can to remember the person. In this specific case I don't see conclusively that @[email protected] is expressing any of that.
I understand your emotion, but another time, please try to remember to respond to each person like a person. We're trying to talk to each other here and not take turns stating positions to a crowd. You know? This isn't a warning or anything like that, but I am asking you to try to avoid generalizing when you're responding in conversations with specific people. Before we can assume bad faith we do have to actually establish that the specific individual is acting in bad faith. It's one thing that can help make this community different to reddit.

I'm not falling over myself to clap, but it is still Ukraine's choice whether to use this or not.
Sounds like it's time to destabilize the government and overthrow the presidency.
Maybe the Assembly can't do it, but the people sure could.

If I as a user don't want to interact with or amplify an instance - such as lemmy.ml - for whatever reason
Is there a way to do so? I've been blocking individual communities on Lemmy.ml to avoid amplifying that instance. But more pop up. Is there any way for me as a user to block an entire instance?
Hopefully this won't be too relevant anytime soon
But this community needs content~
