  • If you know whose round it is you can be passive aggressive and gain virtue points by asking "is it my round?".

  • Careful, if you make it sound too attractive trump might want to buy it.

  • I hope they allow non driving ID to be registered on the app for all proof of ID purposes. I have a niece who cannot get a driving license due to epilepsy and if they are going to expect digital ID for a lot of services it would be difficult if she could not use it.

  • That could be the problem, I mixed sugar afterwards and ended up with a mud of suspended grounds that would not settle.

How do you make Turkish coffee?

Having enjoyed a wonderful Turkish coffee in a Turkish restaurant in London I decided to make some myself. I bought the fine ground coffee and a cezve I made what turned out to be an unappetising mud! What's the secret of making Turkish Coffee?

    Cragside

Cragside in wet grey weather has a special kind of beauty.

  • True but it does have a sort of utilitarian functional beauty.

  • I'm a bit puzzled by "working age" being classed as 16-64. Is that an admission that a very large proportion of those between 64 and the state pension age (66 increasing to 68) are actually unable to continue in employment?

    A walk above Rothbury, Northumberland

I took a different route to usual up to The Carriageway above Rothbury, Northumberland in the UK. The area of Rothbury below is called Pondicherry though I don't know how it came to be named after the Indian city.

  • Funny thing was it was a Tesco policy that doubled the price, though for the previous two years they were either the cheapest or so close that I didn't bother changing; I think last year there was one policy that was £15 a year cheaper. This year though they were far from cheapest.

Today a walked in Hulne pak

I had to go to a supermarket in Alnwick, but the weather was so nice I decided to go for a walk first. As I only had trainers on I decided walk in Hulne park, as most of the tracks are paved.

The walk starts out with some fine views across the valley.

The paved tracks make this an easy walk, and most of it is easily accessible, though further on there are gravel covered roads and some potholes, meaning it would be difficult for wheel chair users to go the whole distance.

    Ridiculous car insurance renewal quote

I had a car insurance renewal quote that had a 110% increase since last year. That's more than doubled with no claims, accidents, or points.

I went to a comparison site and found one that was 'only' a 50% increase on last year. Insurance prices are ridiculous!

  • Traditionally automatics were much less efficient, giving a significant power loss and substantially worse MPG. In the UK with smaller cars with smaller engines and expensive petrol this was a much bigger disadvantage than in the USA.

However modern automatic gears have improved so it's not longer a big disadvantage.

  • Are we limited to two images in a post? It didn't seem to let me add more after this.
