Another aspect is drive and motivation. You work to achieve in your life, and future, however that’s slipping so we are seeing more people say what’s the point? It’s a vicious circle.
The edu system has been sliding towards workforce requirements for a long time. Most people cannot distinguish the difference between learning, education and training.
The problem is a culture of money and corruption created this system that put him at the top, and quite scarily allowing him to stay there. He has done worse things than burned his Allies…and he’s still there.
It’s happed now. And it will happen again because the system has not changed. It’s bolder than ever.
I think that there needs to be education against this. Kids should be aware that it is an addictive product. Our schools should have lessons on objectivity, on how to not have there voices hijacked, on speeding away from the noise of the world.
Cutting it off via a face scan just moves the product. They will still get it. Use culture campaigns.
No gov, no org can have control of this it’s too big until they reign in capitalism. This needs to come from people.
Make our kids better spaces that offer them peace and confidence.
I know this seems like a simple childish comparison but it’s more that for a digital/virtual world we had the choice to build spaces and systems that afforded us real progression. We didn’t. The greedy got their hands on it.
Example - If I was building a church in the virtual world what key elements does it need? Who owns it? What can it give? How does it fund itself?
The core product at the bottom of this is information. People feel information should be free. Corps wanna charge for it. Govs and influentials wanna use it to push an agenda.
I kinda see it like the library. There’s info and there’s the library. Traditionally these were made open to walk in and the library system allowed you access to all the info, peacefully, privately.
Now it’s like library has rooms. Some locked. They are owned by gob$bites some are owned by greedy. They aa regularly steal the open info, change it, hide it, copy it, they hijack the librarians and paint the walls. As they have access to the librarian they can see what I look it.
I think one of the aspects here is you want for drag and drop. Self hosting and jellyfin etc do take time and some resources inc storage and vpn to setup. It’s not as simple as I just want that song.
There is a hunt through soulseek to find the right song. Then there is the making sure it goes to the right place. Then the file name, matching albums covers etc and general library management. Then setting up vpn etc to your phone
It’s a learning curve and then is still not a setup where it’s just find an add. But it’s a step away from big tech.
Fantastic article. Hard to read at times, but an interesting perspective.
