  • Thanks for saying this a lot nicer than I could. To add to this, the ‘just do therapy and schedules and reminders and and and and’ people hate to hear it, but sometimes all that works is the drugs.

I live in the US and there have been horrible shortages of many of the most effective drugs for ADHD (amphetamines and its variations). My spouse spent nearly 2 fucking years without the medication he’d been stable on for years and it was a nightmare. He was trying SO hard to keep on top of things, have a good sleep schedule, and there was just no way he could do it. Like, borderline suicidally depressed about having his ability to be functional taken away. After his pharmacy started getting shipments of his old medication in again, it was like a switch flipped.

You don’t get like that because you’re a lazy dumbass who won’t get their shit together, and people are way too casual about ignoring that ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder.

  • This is what I imagine those people who go nuts from ChatGPT see when they actually read the shit it puts out, lol

  • Why would rural homeowners be filing a suit about a 10 square mile town they don’t live in?

The population density for Charlottesville is over 4500/sq mile. Nobody there is living rurally.

  • I think it’s a mistake to treat (potentially hypothetical) AI cultists like rational actors, but you’re probably right

  • I’m 50/50 on whether this is a creative writing exercise or not, just because of how many people LLMs have sent off the deep end.

  • When a reusable pad is full you just put a fresh one on, wash the dirty one, and let it dry on its own. If you’re out you just put it in a plastic baggie for washing when you get back home. Putting a wet one down your pants would be horrible, haha

  • I’ve heard two pops and that’s about it… I think most people in LA (at least my area) are still a little too traumatized by the fires to want to play around with fireworks. They’re doing drone shows in a lot of areas now.

  • Question for the sailors out there: if they change the name back will that uncurse it or make it twice as cursed, since the name was changed twice?

Could y’all take a look at this code stuff I don’t understand so that search is working properly for Piefed Blahaj? 🫶

    And thank you Rimu!

Search missing things that have already been federated?

I’m not totally sure if this is a Piefed issue or a Blahaj server issue, so sorry if it’s the wrong spot for this.

I’ve noticed that when I try to search for things, the results I get aren’t as expected. If I don’t select to search a community, post, or comment, I get nothing. Searching for posts or comments also pretty frequently gets me nothing.

Random example: just searching ‘signal’ gets me nothing on both posts and comments, along with nothing if I select nothing. But if I search under communities it gives me a community that is already federated and has threads and comments about Signal.

  • Exactly, let them fight. All they can do is hurt each other.

  • Cuddles and not a riot to get fed? Yours is better behaved than mine 😂

  • If I didn’t have this exact keyboard as a kid, we had one nearly identical to it. So much IMing and gaming time on that keyboard. Nice find!

  • At least human beings get paid to do that and presumably at least some of the people playing the games enjoy the experience.

The concept of a video game also isn’t fundamentally built on consumer deception, either.

  • rule :)

  • 🫵 buny

  • Yeah, straight/heterosexual people didn’t want to be called that, either. They want being cis and heterosexual to just be “normal” and any variation to be abnormal. Fuck that, they’ll do the same thing to whatever euphemism you pick instead.

  • Definitely possible, it’s just a little too consistent for me to think it’s all people meeting their hero and nobody just trying to do their job and getting treated poorly.

  • I’d gone years without being too wigged out about it until now, eugh. Probably doesn’t help that I recently read a body horror novel.

Rabbit hole: It didn’t occur to me before now that the supernormal stimulus aspect of genai also applies to things that trigger phobias or strong disgust reactions (for the people who want to be pedants about the word trypophobia). I wonder if people with spider phobias rate AI images as scarier than real images of spiders?

Edit: omg why can’t I hide a post on piefed 😭

  • I’ve seen elderly people in my community riding around and doing their shopping on these a few times, they always seem very pleased with it. It has to beat dragging around one of those foldable shopping carts, for sure!

  • He has a reputation of just being an unpleasant dick and difficult to work with. Nothing super problematic to my knowledge, just a bad personality.

Metrolink Unveils New Fare Pilot Program With Focus on Affordability

Building on the popularity of the seasonal $15 Summer Day Pass promotion, first introduced in 2022, Metrolink will now offer a year-round $15 weekday fare option, called the SoCal Day Pass, which provides unlimited rides on the day of purchase. On Saturdays and Sundays, the price of the SoCal Day Pass will drop to $10 to match the current weekend rate. Up to three kids ages 17 and under will continue to ride free with a fare-paying adult on weekends.

Metrolink is also introducing a new $5 L.A. Zone Day Pass, available seven days a week, that is good for unlimited single-day travel between eight select stations in and around Downtown Los Angeles, including LA Union Station, Cal State LA, Commerce, Montebello/Commerce, Glendale, Burbank-Downtown and both stations serving the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

I hope these new fares stick, I’m definitely going to be taking advantage and going some places I haven’t been before because the train ticket price felt too much for what was

When we got to the top of the cemetery, we stopped there and they took off their vests because that's where they have the camera," he said. "Then they pulled me out of the car and kicked me."

Reyes says that after repeatedly asking them to check his wallet, one of the officers finally did so. They realized he did, in fact, have his green card, but questioned whether it was real.

"'I don't know, maybe it's fake' … The other guy says, 'No, it's real' … That's when they finally stopped," he said. "They were planning to keep hitting me because they didn't have good intentions. They took me to a cemetery."

    Even so, the threats continued.

"Do you think you're a big shot just because you have a green card? I'll make sure they revoke that green card of yours," Reyes said, recalling what agents told him. "'I'm going to do everything I can to get this paper revoked,' an immigration officer told me."
