  • There is zero chance that tariffs will go away by trump’s own actions in the short term. He’s committed to using them as the method of paying billionaires off with their tax cuts that have us very underwater right now.

Other than those same oligarchs metaphorically smacking him in the back of the head for crashing thier stock market and risking a depression.

At this point, they would have cost them less to elect Harris and pay the taxes.

  • Public funding of all elections would solve SO MANY problems in the US!

Just think, no more negative ads and no more money = speech.

All the candidates get the same funding and they have to use it wisely.

The ONLY other "advertising" allowed is individuals and groups saying I endorse "whoever" and that's it.

  • Nice try

  • If you are less than about 20 the bitter flavor is too prominent for most people. Same reason younger folks don't like unsweetened black coffee. It takes a while to grow out of the sensitivity to bitter flavors we are born with.

It’s Official: With “Vermin,” Trump Is Now Using Straight-up Nazi Talk He’s telling us what he will do to his political enemies if he’s president again. Is anyone listening?

I feel pretty safe in saying that we can now stop giving him the benefit of that particular doubt. His use—twice; once on social media, and then repeated in a speech—of the word “vermin” to describe his political enemies cannot be an accident. That’s an unusual word choice. It’s not a smear that one just grabs out of the air. And it appears in history chiefly in one context, and one context only.

The New York State Board of Elections is opting to wait for the courts to rule on the eligibility of former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, signaling that the board would be open to taking his name off state ballots.

In a November 3 letter, the NYSBOE informed U.S. District Judge Glenn Suddaby that the state agency is taking "no position" in the matter of Trump's candidacy and that it will "abide by any orders of judgements of the court."

House Speaker Mike Johnson has three flags hanging outside his office: the American flag, the Louisiana state flag, and a flag representing a movement that wants to turn the United States into a religious Christian nation.

Is there a setting to always open external links in another tab?

The "expand here"s are working perfectly for me.

I can't remember if open links in a new tab is a reddit thing or a res setting.

Also, is there a "res" for lemmy?

"Exhausting" is entirely their plan. If you can't keep refuting their utter bullshit, every time, forever, they think it means they win.

www.rawstory.com Did Trump let Americans die purely for political purposes?

Kentucky MAGA Republican James Comer, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, has been exposed as basically a con man with his phony Hunter Biden bribe witness. Now he is trying to rewrite the history of Trump and Covid.Comer’s latest stunt to try to whitewash Trump’s role in the unnecessary death o...

Did Trump let Americans die purely for political purposes?

of at least a half-million Americans is to argue — nonsensically — that the virus came out of the Wuhan virology lab and therefore something, something, something Trump is not responsible. He’s doing this with House Oversight Committee hearings this week.

    att usenet provider?

I have an att reseller as my ISP, I just found I have access to newsfarm iad highwinds-media com

I haven't used usenet much since about 2009 or so I do know about indexers and have a newsbin license from way back when.

So the q's are who is providing news servers to att, am I safe using them (considering I have to use my real isp login to access them) and who is a good indexer and backup news service if it is safe?

EDIT: Also, how do I tell if there are any limits on my service, My ISP's help chat person had no idea what usenet is, or that we had access to it.

    Thanks!
